I'm currently looking at my wardrobe and what I might want to update it for autumn.

I'm mid50s, 5'7" and size 14.

I'm currently looking at these:

Boots

@quirkychick the tartan skirt sounds gorgeous!

@CointreauVersial the length is everywhere at the moment, I need to try it as I’m thinking it would be longer on me than the model. With the right boots I think it could look really elegant.

For those loving the TU black kilt, the Maje kilt that it was a copy of does pop up on Vinted for a good price. I have it and it’s amazing, very excited to wear it again.

I want dungarees but it’s hard to find the right pair for my body. I do not like Lucy and Yak. I saw a woman in Carharrt ones the other day and they were stunning but they cost bomb and I can’t afford them!

I’ve just got this jacket/cardigan - super pleased with it! Over a t-shirt vest for now and add extra layers as it gets colder

Where is that from @speakout , I love it. Need somebody to get married in the autumn now so I could justify it...

I had the idea of an embroidered duster coat for a while, I could see it in my mind's eye,so generated that image using AI to make my search easier.I did find some lovely garments, but ££££ expensive.
So I bought an identical chocolate brown velver duster- or opera coat from Shein for £10. I wasn't expecting much, but it is lovely, generous in size, good heavy fabric. I then bought some embroidery applique trim from ebay and nearly finished sewing it - I am so happy with the result. Total cost for the coat and trim was less than £20.

Waves to @speakout would velvet Mary Janes work? I have some which are Tai Chi shoes from a hippy shop - very cheap!

@BangingOn that Next skirt is very similar to mine! The tartan on mine is green and black on a white background.

This is the skirt I have (I inherited mine free)

I have my eye on this skirt but it is very expensive for what it is.

@TemperanceWest if you could forego the lace M&S have something similar in pinstripe.
im lusting after the M&S silk circle skirt, but not sure where or how I would wear it.

Hi quirkychicki need to think about footwear-I am so difficult with my shoes ! I will have a look at the ones you suggest.

Love that green check Next skirt @CointreauVersial
@BangingOn I wore box pleat skirts (with cream tights, bare legs were never allowed😱) when I first started working in London in 1983!

I love autumn winter dressing and always have a wish list. I am selling (and buying) lots on Vinted and trying to do ‘one in one out’.

So far I’ve bought this cape back jumper from Dissh:
https://dissh.com/products/daphne-black-knit-cape-top

and this sheer panel Argyle cardigan from AllSaints:
https://www.allsaints.com/women/knitwear/bern-wool-blend-argyle-cardigan/W007KF-5.html?utm_campaign=google_surfaces&utm_content=googlefreelistings

I am on the hunt for interesting skirts to wear with black knitwear and boots. I quite like this from Cos but might go for a vintage equivalent from a heritage brand via Vinted instead:
https://www.cos.com/en-gb/women/womenswear/skirts/midlength/product/box-pleat-checked-wool-midi-skirt-beige-checked-1342913002

I also have a few Comme Des Garçons skirts in my favourites, all with interesting shape or drape. The Vinted algorithms have been dangerously good for me recently.

That All Saints cardigan is fabulous 👌

A silk circle skirt? Where? Do you have a link please?

I used to have a black one and wore it until it fell apart, they're really easy to wear.

I have very clear mental image of this in my mind! I was wearing the 10 year old girl equivalent, cream tights and everything.

I was picturing it with a sleek black polo neck and long black boots that go above the hemline, but it’s possible this only looks good in my head.

Oh lord this thread could spell financial disaster because I too love that next skirt @CointreauVersial !

CointreauVersial · Today 17:15

I love that lace-trim skirt, @TemperanceWest . A refreshing change from all the slippery satin around at the moment....but yes, pricey.

To be honest, if you are handy with a needle/sewing machine, and have a regular skirt you could buy some broad lace and sew it on underneath the hem. I did this recently with a Uniqlo sleeveless top that had become rather too cropped in the wash. I found some lace on Amazon, and it was transformed.

What's the weirdness going on under the boobs of the top? Is it AI?

I've bought 3 pairs of these jeans from M&S. Harper Cigarette jeans I was so happy to see a straight leg.

I didn't notice the odd boob thing- does look a little strange Yes the image is AI

Cantonet · Today 19:25

@anon2022anon I have the dark green version of that beige fringed coat. It's lovely and fits really well.
