Chin hairs

What fresh hell is this. I’m finding little hairs in places I didn’t before which need to be plucked out. In the right (wrong) lighting I can see a few fine hairs. Not enough for a beard by any stretch but this is not a problem I’ve had until recently.

I’m only in my mid-30s, I didn’t expect this for at least another 15 years.

Please tell me I’m not alone and how do you get rid of them!

Welcome to the rest of your life. They will haunt you forever now!!!!

Right now you can probably see them in a normal mirror. Wait until you get to mid 50s and literally overnight you can't even see the fuckers properly to be able to tweezer them despite having x10 magnification mirrors, with light!

Buy lots of pairs of decent tweezers and small mirrors. Put them all round the house and three pairs in your bag. You can thank me later.

Allthegoodhorses · Today 20:10

Buy a simple human mirror. I spent years with mirrors with lights, mirrors with lights next to them, beauty mirrors blah blah blah. My husband bought me an illuminated simple human mirror and it has transformed my life. You can see EVERYTHING. It is soooo satisfying. Expensive but soo worth it. Oh and Tweezerman tweezers, they get the little fuckers out like no other tweezers. It's the most dreamy combination.

OtherS · Today 20:11

I was early/mid-30s too.

I use a facial epilator for most of them, but it doesn't work on the thick spiky ones. Even my leg epilator doesn't work on them! They require sharp Tweezerman tweezers, a good light and a magnifying glass. Bloody satisfying when you catch it, but god they're annoying until you do. Just why? What possible evolutionary purpose do firmly embedded thick black chin hairs serve?!

I am very glad we evolved to create tweezers, magnifying mirrors and bright lights, would be lost without them.

wait until you get (not much) older

MS advert voice... 'this is not just a chin hair. this is a white, bristly chin hair. a chin hair double the width of your normal hair that glistens in the light, visiblle to everyone on a video call. a white corksrew that grew from zero to 2cm within hours...'

We need the laugh emoji back - in a good way!!

There is nothing worse than discovering the Tweezerman tweezers have disappeared and you have to resort to the free pair that came with a Christmas gift set.

I'm off to Google Simplehuman Mirror. Is it better at being a mirror than their kitchen bins are at being bins?

I have lazer hair removal on my chin, jawline & neck. It's effective for thick black hair. I love a good pluck but I had too much & the constant plucking damaged my skin.

@OtherS can you tell me which facial epilator, I am depsperate to find one that works!

BlackCat14 · Today 20:26

I have about seven or eight now (I’m 37) and I find what works for me is facial hair removal cream, once a week. Usually every Saturday morning. Through the week I spot rogue, dark ones coming through and I pluck them, but the hair removal gets rid of any little pesky invisible ones and makes my chin feel super smooth!

There's a knack to them, if you're used to less sharp tweezers you'll be pressing too firmly. Just line up the hair in the tweezer, and very gently grip it. Hated them when I first got them and couldn't understand the fuss, but can't be without them now.

(PS don't go near your eyebrows until you know you've got the technique down..!)

Fordy33 · Today 20:34

If I find one I keep it in a pinch hold pull and mark it with brown eyeliner, then go find my face wax strip and can find the little fooker, always struggled with tweezers

PrizedPickledPopcorn · Today 20:34

I had facial cream. Then I was shaving for a while- men’s razor style. I tried waxing, but it tends to leave bumps when they grow back in, regardless of exfoliating, and then I pick at them to pluck the hair and get spots.
So I’m giving waxing a couple more goes then returning to shaving. Or depilatory cream. Again.

Wait for the Manchurian moustache. That’s great too.

Giftspread · Today 20:34

I used to be the same, several pairs of tweezers, hair removal cream etc. Then I started electrolysis 18 months ago. Its been a long and painful process, but I'm nearly hair free. No longer do I have to worry about having a beard and tach and being too old to do anything about it!
The electrolysis has been life changing for me.

It's a Braun FaceSpa Pro - Braun FaceSpa Pro SE911 | Face Epilator | Official Braun Store. I've had it years now, so doubt this is exactly the same, though it looks identical. I'm pretty sure I didn't pay anything like that for it though!

@OtherS Thanks! I have the battery version of this but it isn't very powerful, I was looking at the rechargeable one instead.

lmnabc · Today 20:39

I have a One Touch home electrolysis machine. Takes about 15 minutes to do just one whisker but they do stop coming back after a few goes

I’ve just ordered one of these after trying out my friend’s one - v satisfying to use!
