Chin hairs

What fresh hell is this. I’m finding little hairs in places I didn’t before which need to be plucked out. In the right (wrong) lighting I can see a few fine hairs. Not enough for a beard by any stretch but this is not a problem I’ve had until recently.

I’m only in my mid-30s, I didn’t expect this for at least another 15 years.

Please tell me I’m not alone and how do you get rid of them!

Same. It starts as just a couple then you end up plucking multiple every day and it’s really bad for your skin. Laser has got rid almost completely. Best to do it before they start going grey.

I’m not sure about the bins but the mirror is amazing. Best present I’ve ever had.

I’m a chin plucker too, but the hairs can be so painful to pull out 😭

I actually have a pair of nose hair scissors, they have a rounded end so you don't cut inside your nose - in theory - in practice, it is still possible if you're clumsy enough... 🙄

I read that you're not supposed to pluck nose hairs - part from the exquisite, eye-watering, sneezing-fit pain, it makes them grow back funny. Which I can believe, having plucked my chin hairs for years and got the scarring to show for it... 😢

In fact, does anyone have a solution or treatment for the chin scarring? I feel I am among friends here...

they are white as snow and coarse.

Apparently certain hair lazer machines can help with the over plucking scars.

Oh, my sweet summer child, @probablyamunreasonable. 30s is a common time for it to start and by 50, with apologies to Shakespeare, it's a case of

"When chin hairs come, they come not single spies but in battalions"

I have the Philips lumea ipl thing which is good on dark hairs if you keep doing every week or two for the rest of your life otherwise they come back but it’s better than tweezing as the growth is a lot slower and for periods there is none at all.
So that’s great for my dark hairs however I also seem to have a problem with grey/white hairs which are sprouting out everywhere and the lumea doesn’t work on so they have to be tweezed. Sometimes I don’t have time to tweeze a full chin jawline and bloody neck of bloody grey hairs so I shave them off

mother nature's sense of humour to send chin and neck hairs along with ageing eyesight. so you can feel the wee fuckers but you can't see them.

get the best magnifying mirror you can lay your hands on and good tweezers.

I finally caved in mid-50s & started monthly electrolysis - it's expensive, unpleasant and a long-term commitment but the liberation from plucking is worth it to me

Wait till you get the white ones that are really coarse like a mans beard hair....🤢🤢🤣🤣 I do my pluck sessions while I'm having a poo 💩 🤣🤣🤣

I had a dental appointment earlier this week and thought I’d been assiduous in getting rid of my beard before hand. Then afterwards I found I had a fuckton of the spiky bristley buggers sneaked through my chin skin.

I have a follow up appointment tomorrow morning and have been stroking, discovering and plucking all day.

It’s one of the best feelings if you get one of the really tricky ones

Hello my friends. Its a sad sad reflection on where I am in life that this thread and the one about being fucked over by perimenopause have made me feel less alone this week. In real life everyones swishing along with their glowiness and hairless chins.

As someone who’s had a moustache since the age of 15 I can empathise to some extent. Other posters seem to have the plucking game down to a fine art. Is waxing an option?

Just don’t EVER shave them, no matter how much of an emergency it seems. My mums workmate made this mistake and was left dealing with a full on beard, just like her husband.

I use my Braun IPL device on mine and I don't shave either. A friend who was a beauty therapist in a clinic that did laser and IPL found shaving wasn't necessary to kill the fuckers. It is usually better if you do because the light needs to go down the hair shaft and it's easier if there is no long hair hampering that but it's not necessary. It does burn them though and I quite like that because it makes me feel like I am killing the fuckers.
I didn't want to shave because no matter what you're told or what you believe, your face is stubbly to other people.
I am French and we always kiss hello and goodbye and my MIL who has shaved for years has stubbly cheeks. I can always tell instantly the ladies who shave/dermaplane.

My problem is I have a lot of white vellus hairs which stick out if I am cold and other than shaving there is no current way to remove that.

Never mind scientists developing new forms of Viagra for floppy dicked men, what about inventing a permanent solution to facial hair for women?

I started off with a Lumea. I had the same thing, suddenly the hair was white and untouchable with IPL. I wonder if the Lumea isn't strong enough to kill facial hair and converts it to white instead.

I got a Braun IPL earlier this year after 8 years of a Lumea and it's so much stronger. But won't touch the white.

This is interesting. It could be that the ipl had turned them white because now the white seem to have outnumbered the dark hairs. But also the white ones are very coarse much more so than the dark ones so maybe it’s changed that as well.

How do you manage to pluck them in the car using the rear view mirror?
I can’t reach it,it’s above by head, probably comes from only being 4’10” 🙁

I use a little Braun facial razor every 2/3 days which works fine.
I’m quite old so my current problem is my eyebrows which look like Denis Healy’s unless I tidy them up every 5 minutes. I think my scalp hair follicles have moved to my eyebrows.
But I no longer have any underarm hair!

I am so glad I have found my people. I have a magnifying mirror that has suckers (tweezerman) and I stick it on the back of my phone with the light on and pull.
