Chin hairs

What fresh hell is this. I’m finding little hairs in places I didn’t before which need to be plucked out. In the right (wrong) lighting I can see a few fine hairs. Not enough for a beard by any stretch but this is not a problem I’ve had until recently.

I’m only in my mid-30s, I didn’t expect this for at least another 15 years.

Please tell me I’m not alone and how do you get rid of them!

feeling for chin hairs whilst driving and then getting home, shining a
light whilst plucking is my hobby

Car tweezers. Keep tweezers in the car. The lighting in the car and the angle of the mirror make it the prime chin hair spotting position. I do my chin plucking on the driveway or in supermarket carparks 😆

This, I’m constantly feeling for them. I have a magnifying mirror set up next to a bright light so I can see the buggers and pull them out. I’ve come to quite enjoy it.

They appear from nowhere and once spotted (or felt) will drive you mad.
good tweezers and a stable hand… I’ve also trained one of the kids up to get them

RedGlassHeart · Today 19:53

Mid 30s is exactly the time the beard starts to sprout.

(wistfully remembering when I only had a couple of chin hairs)

I'm in my 40's now and have had the same for sometime. I read an article which said if you can feel 1 chin hair, its not just 1, but a cluster of them growing at multiple times 😱

I have a head porch which I angle from each side to check, mirror and good tweezers. 😩

Favouritefruits · Today 19:56

I love plucking my chin hairs, I’ve got really dark hair so they are obvious too. Enjoy the next phase of hair growth 😁

Yes you are not alone 😂

Absolutely this. She’s now 28 and I relish her visits home for more reasons than one. We have a new arrangement, I support the baby’s bottle whilst she plucks away 😁

mynameiscalypso · Today 19:57

I’m another one who loves it too; if I ever write a post on MN about my mysterious hobby, you can assume I’m talking about plucking out my chin hairs.

Northernladdette · Today 19:58

Use your torch on your phone to spot them 🙂

CheeseWisely · Today 19:59

Wait for the spiky ones! I can feel one emerging right now, must remember to pluck it when I go brush my teeth.

Likeiloveyou · Today 19:59

I have multiple pairs of tweezers as I cannot risk not having a pair to hand at all times.

I read that they grow long under the skin then unfurl as they exit 🤮🤮🤮

That makes sense. Sometimes I swear to you my jawline is silky smooth when I leave for work, then I’ll go to the loo about 10am and under the harsh light find one rogue blighter about an inch long Blush

yup! I think I started aged 30.

Bluebellsintheforest33 · Today 20:02

I've been getting them since mid twenties :(

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · Today 20:04

I have one rogue chin hair. I'm quite thrilled when he grows back, I like to touch it for a couple of days before I give in and pluck it. Then I like to keep and inspect him for a little bit. Saying goodbye for another few weeks is difficult.

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · Today 20:04

I’m 56 they definitely appear overnight. I’ve made DD promise to keep them at bay if I become demented or incapacitated.

beigetriangle · Today 20:05

wait until you get (not much) older

MS advert voice... 'this is not just a chin hair. this is a white, bristly chin hair. a chin hair double the width of your normal hair that glistens in the light, visiblle to everyone on a video call. a white corksrew that grew from zero to 2cm within hours...'

Oh my days this makes so much sense.

Ballooney · Today 20:06

I have PCOS so have had chin hair since my teens, not just a few either! I tried everything but gave in a few years ago and just shave every morning. All good except when I have been unexpectedly away with no razor! If i just had a few plucking sounds quite satisfying.

BatsInHibernation · Today 20:07

Buy cheap strong reading glasses from the supermarket and then check in bright lighting.
It's a bloody shock sometimes. I think I'm in the clear and then BAM three sizeable black ones in the mirror.

Disturbia81 · Today 20:07

Why would nature do this!?

corblimeymlud · Today 20:08

They grow rapidly. One day there is nothing and 2 days later they are 4 inches long usually found when you are out in the car or in the cinema 😂

Hello, is this the chin hair pluckers' support group?
