I’m broke, what can take the place of Botox?

FloodlightsOnTheSquare · 27/06/2026 21:07

I’ve been getting my 11s, forehead, and crows feet done for about 3/4 years, usually every 7-8 months.

But now I’m broke, and my crows feet in particular are beginning to bother me, and my left eyelid feels a bit droopy and uncomfortable.

Is there anything that remotely compares? I can’t use tret, i have eczema and my skin can’t take it.

Does anyone have any ideas? Please?

You will know plenty of people who have Botox.
You will like and admire those people and they won’t ever tell you they get it.
Just like many women shave their legs, dye their hair, whiten their teeth, get rid of varicose veins, get teeth braces, get their nails done, pierce their ears etc, have breast reductions, get tattoos.
They want to feel better about themselves.
You obviously don’t feel the need to do these things and there is nothing wrong with that either.
The great thing is we can do as we please as we live in a country which allows us to do so. It’s really not a big deal.

I think it is a big deal. See my last post for reasons why. I respect the fact you don’t think it is a big deal, but there are many women like me, who do.

Great.

Can any 9 year old girls on this thread piss off please? The grown ups are talking.

Thanks.

@rapid3874greekyoghurt It seems very odd to latch onto the thread of one particular lone woman than just to start your own thread debating the topic - probably in the feminists area or even AIBU if you wanted to get a big audience. There was no need to target one particular random poster for asking a question about alternatives to Botox.

Should probably start a thread about it love! Instead of relentlessly derailing a thread and getting posts deleted that you don’t like.

Your post got deleted for abusive name calling, personal attacks and inappropriate language, in an attempt to shut down and bully.

It’s really interesting to me that as of yet no one has responded to any of my reasonable questions. A lot of replies have been one words insults and aggressive phrases. Denial, rage and abuse. I’ve been subject to constant belittling, abuse, name calling, minimising, personal insults. I’ve remained calm, polite and respectful in the face of continued hate. What I’ve learnt from this experience is that beauty is definitely more than skin deep. There has been a lot of ugliness on this thread. I am proud I haven’t used such awful derogatory names towards other posters and it’s certainly opened my eyes to the personalities and behavioural issues for many women who feel the need to use Botox to feel worthy. Good luck women - I think you are going to need it.

It's fascinating how strenuously people will assert their right to have toxins injected into their faces isn't it. Fascinating but desperately sad.

Overtheatlantic · 05/07/2026 20:53

I should go to bed; I have an early Botox appointment in the morning.

Ok.
But appreciate you have no right to criticise other women, unless they are harming others.
i had some for the first time last year at the age of 59. My grown up daughters haven’t even noticed!
I have told no one.
Smoking, alcohol, drugs, pollution, etc are all poisons in our body.
Botox has been used in medicine for a long time. So it’s pretty safe, if used by qualified person.

FloodlightsOnTheSquare · 05/07/2026 21:57

@lovecotswoldslivingi sat through a rant from my own mother about how Botox makes people look frozen and ridiculous, then told her I’d had it done a month previously 🤣 She had no clue.

But we do have the right.

Apparently we don’t have the right to a chat about it without constant interruptions but never mind.

What on earth did she say?
My Mum is no longer here, but she probably didn’t even know it existed….

No one has to 😂 It wasn’t a debate topic. If the OP had posted a debate topic about the pros of Botox, why she thinks it’s great etc, that would’ve been fair enough but it’s not the point of the post. No one is under any obligation to address anything you’ve asserted.

She wasn’t impressed that I got it, despite it not being as entirely deforming as she claimed 🤣

Also there’s are threads on Botox weekly, if you fancy a debate

Why is it sad? People have toxins injected into lots of different areas of their bodies for various medical reasons. Do you find that sad too or is that acceptable in your eyes?

There has been a real eagerness to hurl abuse and call me some awful names instead. They don’t have to do that either. But in almost all replies to my queries, they’ve chosen to deliberately misunderstand my point and deflect through belittling me and name calling. Women who are confident and secure in their beliefs and reasons would usually respond with respectfully replies. So it’s really interesting that they’ve been happy to use their time to bully but not answer the questions.

Your silence on the topic is an explanation in and of itself. By refusing to answer, you are telling me a lot.

Rondayvu · 06/07/2026 09:13

The constantly nit picking at the OP's posts are what is bullying. You just cannot leave her to her thread you have to take it over so its all about you instead of leaving the posters to discuss a topic instead. Other people are allowed opinions, yours is not the only opinion to go by and trying to force it down peoples necks is bullying behaviour. Honestly just let people talk about what they want to and find another thread to take over instead.
