I’m broke, what can take the place of Botox?

FloodlightsOnTheSquare · 27/06/2026 21:07

I’ve been getting my 11s, forehead, and crows feet done for about 3/4 years, usually every 7-8 months.

But now I’m broke, and my crows feet in particular are beginning to bother me, and my left eyelid feels a bit droopy and uncomfortable.

Is there anything that remotely compares? I can’t use tret, i have eczema and my skin can’t take it.

Does anyone have any ideas? Please?

I'd like botox on my 11s but can't afford it and tbh it's a bit scary.

So I got a fringe cut in instead - it's worked wonders! 😂

It baffles me honestly that we are living through awful climate crisis as a result of over consumption and people are not even rethinking their lifestyle choices on the level of ‘probably don’t need to inject poison in my face to look younger.’ What the hell is it going to take for us to STOP?!

FloodlightsOnTheSquare · 27/06/2026 21:29

I look ridiculous with a fringe unfortunately

Perhaps a thread about Botox isn’t for you 🤷‍♀️

None of them work really. If they did then nobody would get Botox

This is true.

Workquery1 · 27/06/2026 21:34

I’ve not used them but ‘frownies’ are supposed to be good whilst sleeping (can use generic brand silicone scar tape too)

HelenHywater · 27/06/2026 21:36

Well given you can't afford it, you have no choice but to accept it do you?

I found that after about 49 my eyesight deteriorated so I could no longer clearly see any blemishes or wrinkles and after the menopause, I no longer cared.

Whataflippincircus · 27/06/2026 21:36

FloodlightsOnTheSquare · 27/06/2026 21:17

Well I don’t get it for other people so that’s fine

I refer you to my previous answer then, hide your mirrors.

Good for you 👏

I’ve been shortsighted since I was a kid and yet I care 🤷‍♀️

Tretionoin is the strongest face cream you can use. Only available online in UK. Maybe worth looking at.
You could also try a strong retinol cream and see if it helps.
Or you could do as I do, work on a Saturday, to get treat money, which means I can pay for things without feeling guilty. I am older than you, but have just had some Sculptra treatments for marionette lines.

If it's that important to you, maybe get off your phone. Mobile phones are absolutely awful for the environment.

Well a second job may yet have to be found, but it would be to pay for the kids Christmas. Treats for me are off the table, thanks divorce!

Makes notes.

I have no idea what age you are but as an ex Botox lover, I’m so glad I gave up at 54. My friends who have continued at the same age can’t hide all the other signs of aging and have that moon forehead that shouts BOTOX

lightreflectingonwater · 27/06/2026 21:47

Drink lots of water
Stay out of the sun
Eat healthily

All the rest is just companies feeding your insecurities

I don't even wear make up, and just wash with water. People keep saying how young I look. I think Botox actually makes people look older in a weirdly creepy way

Well at least you’ll have less to frown about now 😉

I have a ridiculous amount of wrinkles and hate them . A few weeks ago a guy who I dated over 30 years ago recognised me at a tennis club. I absolutely adored him and heartbroken when he dumped me . Anyway he said I looked amazing for my age ,we spent ages chatting…this meeting beats any Botox / anti aging treatment.
I now look in the mirror and recognise me !

Yes, I do think about that - I’m not in my 50s yet, who knows when I’d have stopped but I would rather it was not right now.
