I’m broke, what can take the place of Botox?

FloodlightsOnTheSquare · 27/06/2026 21:07

I’ve been getting my 11s, forehead, and crows feet done for about 3/4 years, usually every 7-8 months.

But now I’m broke, and my crows feet in particular are beginning to bother me, and my left eyelid feels a bit droopy and uncomfortable.

Is there anything that remotely compares? I can’t use tret, i have eczema and my skin can’t take it.

Does anyone have any ideas? Please?

Anyway back to the OPs question. I did not get my botox done for about 8 months last year and I only get side of the eyes done not my forehead anyway so I started using 'Versed' products as I read Cameron Diaz uses them and she looks fab and I have only remembered them this morning and going to order more when I remember where I got them but I am sure it was boots or something similar. This is product anyway Smooth Landing

Smooth Landing

Your silence on the topic is an explanation in and of itself. By refusing to answer, you are telling me a lot.

Your posts have been passive aggressive which is bound to invite people sniping back because you continue to wham on and try and shut conversation down.

Not a single person on here would say to another woman "you need a bit of work", not a single one, its none of our business, yet youre here attempting to force your view and trying to somehow blame us for the ills of the cosmetic world. Like you think poor women cant make their own mind up, you need to save us from ourselves.

And inexplicably you believe that makes you the better person.

Lolz.

No I’m trying to communicate to you that your posts are incredibly dull, quite rude, and that I wish you’d leave it now. I was really looking for help on this thread and you took that away and turned it into a debate for your own weird sport.

I’ll leave my own thread now. Thanks for the advice, all of you interesting women who shared your own tips. It was a lovely conversation which I was enjoying very much.

@FloodlightsOnTheSquare dont leave that is letting a bully win. Also see above, versed products. I only remembered the name this morning and currently trying to find out where to buy again but seems almost impossible.

Nooooo dont go op!!

Ive been guilty of engaging when I said I wouldnt but if we ignore the ramblings it can get back on track and that poster will get bored and go on a thread about recipes for chicken and hound everyone why they dont want a beef recipe ☺️

Morning, everyone. We're just popping in to see if we can get this thread back on track. There has been a lot of derailing over the course of the thread. While everyone is welcome to their views on this topic, we'd like to return to the OP's original question of what products might take the place of botox. If anyone would like to have a conversation about the ethics or advisability of botox, please feel free to start a new thread in the appropriate place. Thanks!

Thank you MN!

Thank you Hebe.

Shall we get back to business ladies? What is this Versed mentioned upthread? Do I need it? 🤣

I’ve started using rosehip oil and agrireline from The Ordinary and am awaiting my brand new face 😁

Failing that I’ll have to find the two hundred bucks from somewhere!

Have you looked at those face exercises ?

it ll be tricky to achieve Botox effect without them as they’re both basically working on the muscle ….

FloodlightsOnTheSquare · 07/07/2026 08:00

Oh, no I haven’t! I’m sure I took a screenshot of the advice, I really need to look back at it!

There has been a real eagerness to hurl abuse and call me some awful names instead. They don’t have to do that either. But in almost all replies to my queries, they’ve chosen to deliberately misunderstand my point and deflect through belittling me and name calling. Women who are confident and secure in their beliefs and reasons would usually respond with respectfully replies. So it’s really interesting that they’ve been happy to use their time to bully but not answer the questions.

You have definitely been subjected to mean girls behaviour here. It has been quite embarrassing and immature to witness. Those sharing of mocking emojis etc. And did some fool actually accuse you of DARVO? If they don’t want to engage, they could just not respond to your posts, but they are enjoying keeping the debate going in a mocking manner.

I think on a thread about alternatives to botox, it is perfectly reasonable to raise an opposing view. If people are happy with getting it, I always wonder why they get so insulted and defensive. When I am content with something, challenges don’t bother me at all as I am happy in what I do 🤷🏼‍♀️

FloodlightsOnTheSquare · 07/07/2026 09:52

@ClementingMN have stepped in where that poster is concerned and we are trying to keep it on topic. Please don’t wade into it all again.

OP posts:
GwendolineFairfax8 · 07/07/2026 11:32

Sorry if I missed it, but is there an overriding best alternative to try? Willing to spend but don’t want to have to test them all! Normal (mature) skin.

Toveylove · 07/07/2026 13:12

There used to be a microcurrent device for the forehead lines called safetox. Very good, if you can source ond, and have the will to sit with it in for three minutes a day. Actually come to think of it Foreo have a mini microcurrent for frown lines and upper lip lines, too.
but the thing is.. if it’s so much work to keep the lines at bay, eventually resignation starts to creep in and one just accepts them, and relinquishes the daily faff. Whereas à Botox appt just resolves the issue without increasing your mental load.

FloodlightsOnTheSquare · 07/07/2026 13:57

I think that’s exactly it. Foreo does have a product which someone upthread said was good but no way comparable to Botox. And it’s about £200 anyway, so still not money I can easily find.
