What dresses are you all wearing?

Most of my Summer clothes no longer fit and I desperately need a couple of cool, floaty dresses and some shorts that are not too short.

What have you all bought recently that you’ve loved?

I really need some inspiration.

This one

Although it does seem to fit differently on me than it does on the model in the picture

I love my new white stuff Leah jersey dress. Perfect in every way. In face I have ordered another one!

theKingismyFather · 30/05/2026 13:25

I’ve got several of these, £22-£24 each. They are very nice, stretchy, cool, and have washed well so far. I wear a uk 18-20 and got an XXL

I am looking for something floaty but with upper arm coverage and found this Roman one but it is too big and out of stock in a smaller size. Does anyone have anything similar they have found, any colour would do except green?

Thanks

Anything from here: https://www.chandnichowk.co.uk/fashion

Cool, ethically made and incredibly beautiful. I just recommend going up a size!

I love their pin-tucked shirts.

I was tempted by 3 linen dresses that were reduced on the Woolovers website. They offered an extra 20% off everything for the first May bank holiday weekend so I ordered all 3 of them.

I've been living in the during the hot weather, they are so cool and comfortable. The ones I ordered have sold out, but they do both the button down version and the pocket tunic dress in several colours and patterns. https://www.woolovers.com/womens/linen-dresses

@PomegranateVase I adore the colour of that green dress & the fact thats its a 100% cotton, even the lining. I wonder whether the front can be sewn up a bit as its a bit low. But then the back means you can't wear a bra anyway 🤔

It arrived and I tried it on with a strapless bra. The top line of the bra strap was visible at the back of the dress so I pulled it down a little lower and the dress covered it. It is low in the front though - I was hoping to get away with it at work, but there’s no chance of that!

Today I wore a Louche purple flowered summer dress with a blue background, button through with a collar and pockets and a swing skirt. A little bit 1950’s with blue pumps and a purple cross body bag.

RobinEllacotStrike · 01/06/2026 16:15

I'm wearing a red cotton sheersucker dress, also lined in a lightweight red cotton - This Is Unfolded.

It feels great on, good choice for a warm but not hot day. As is often the case with long sleeves the arms are a bit short on me - I might adjust them.

CluelessAboutBiology · 01/06/2026 19:19

@theworldisadarkplacethanks for the tip about Mountain Warehouse, I went in there yesterday and bought two dresses for £26.

EmiliaBassano · 02/06/2026 12:38

Today, an Orla Kiely print dress that is supposed to be midi length but being 5'1" it is actually a maxi.

I love dresses, just so easy to wear. Currently wearing a cream linen dress from Free People. From last year but looks like this one.

Also love All Saints dresses, including this one

I LOVE these!!

blueshoes · 03/06/2026 11:54

These 2 dresses from M&S. I am 5ft nothing and size 6. They are maxi on me.

The first one is lovely for hot weather. Other than the straps, the linen cotton dress floats around and does not even touch my body. Like I am wearing air.

@Nervousb2b I just came on to thank you for the Chadni Chowk link! I loved shopping in Anokhi in Khan Market when I was in Delhi (and in Chadni Chowk for fruit/veg/spices etc!)
When East closed it was almost impossible to find Anokhi stuff in the Uk and you've now solved my problem 10 fold. 💐

Thank you so much- that’s a great price for me+em - just ordered!

I really want this but it’s sold out in every size apart from 16!

BeGutsyGoldMoose · 05/06/2026 23:04

Cotton Traders have some nice shirt dresses and some lovely maxi dresses.

BadSkiingMum · 06/06/2026 08:24

I am interested in a few new clothes.

For a long time I only bought on EBay for recycling reasons and don’t technically need any ‘new’ clothes, but do you ever get to the point where you just feel that you need an update? Or rather that I should regularly invest in a few new items to avoid looking entirely outdated, which matters a bit more as we age.

Thoughts welcome!

Quick question, what is the ‘double cloth’ referred to by various retailers? The White Stuff dresses include some examples. Does it still wash ok or do the two layers start to head in different directions due to shrinkage?

I wore this for the first time over the weekend and so many people complimented it. It's very cool and floaty. And it's on sale. It also comes in a plainer blue colour which I'm tempted by.

www.whitestuff.com/p/7750/kate-short-sleeve-midi-dress/BLUE_MLT

It’s absolutely causal and beautiful with all those lovely colour patterns.Sadly I can never afford £60+ to spend on a dress.

@petitdonkey , how did you find it? I find the quality of the material and cut fantastic,

I have a couple of these, one in navy one in olive, which doesn’t have the buttons at the front. I also have a jersey strappy version in olive. They are very comfy on and cool.

I love that style of dress, got a couple from Next last year and they are doing them again.

I also have a sewing pattern for the same kind of style and am going to cut one out this weekend - navy, but the skirt will be linen not poplin.

Thereasonwhynot · 06/06/2026 20:00

Bought this for my daughter last year, she’s curvy and looks lovely in it. Aspiga Riley dress in pink.
