What dresses are you all wearing?

Most of my Summer clothes no longer fit and I desperately need a couple of cool, floaty dresses and some shorts that are not too short.

What have you all bought recently that you’ve loved?

I really need some inspiration.

Didn't know of either Me & Thee or DK's super-expensive Urban Zen range! The latter is gorgeous, but yes - £500 for a silk camisole ... I really like the 70s disco look of the Me & Thee stuff! But then I love that era ... they're very Studio 54?

Do you mean cowboy boots for summer? It's not a look I'm personally that keen on - though I've never felt that I could carry off cowboy boots in a remotely cool way. (I have long wavy hair & would feel like an ageing country & western singer!!!) Plus, wouldn't they be horribly hot & sweaty?

Would a sandal with a well-cushioned flat/flatform sole & straps around the ankle as well as across the foot work? Maybe something with a bit of studding to give an edge? Like a chunkier gladiator sandal? How much support does your ankle need - as your deck shoes wouldn't provide any, would they?

Yeah, I am probably asking too much from a sandal! Getting x-rayed soon, so hopefully we will get closer to fixing it. I am in Scotland, so not as blistering hot as down south so would probably get away with the boots for some all day events. Black biker boots are not very summery!

If you like Me & Thee, they do good sales. Although I am not keen on the new fabrics, I do recommend the cut, they are very flattering. I have a triangle shape with big boobs and a meno belly but they always make me look va va voom!

I know this is meant to be about dresses but I really love this jumpsuit! Has anyone bought from Massimo Dutti? I could find a bra to suit that low back, couldn't I? Asymmetric draped jumpsuit · Blue · Dress | Massimo Dutti

There’s some lovely designs here!
@Nervousb2b - what size are you normally if you don’t mind me asking! And what do you order from here?

I'm a size 10 normally and tend to get a M or 12 from here - I also don't like things super snug/others seeing my podgy bits attempting to gasp for air!

I save and get one thing at a time - all of their pieces last and I genuinely love how ethical it all is. There's some incredibly educational/heartbreaking documentaries around on how horrific the fashion industry is, but ever since I watched Udita, arise (YouTube) I've been unable to wear anything unless it's from a charity shop or shop that has high ethical standards.

Happy shopping!

I wore this Whistles one to work yesterday and got quite a few compliments. I'm short so it's just above the knee on me. It's great for hot weather as it's very light material, no waistbands and doesn't crumple.

I love this / does it come up big or small? Thanks

Thanks, I will look out for their sales! In Edinburgh myself, & very glad it's not as boiling as down south ...

I'm in the Scottish Borders! Can't bear the heat and I do a dying swan routine if it goes about 24 degrees. Today is plenty hot enough!

Yes - I really like their clothes. And their bags/footwear. It's a sister company to Zara but less trend-driven/more classic, a bit dearer but better quality.

But I hate complicated bras (low backs/halternecks etc) - so although that is lovely I can't advise on the bra!

Didyousaynutella · 28/05/2026 18:51

I’ve become obsessed with halara recently. They do great elasticated shorts that are really flattering.
lots of dresses too.

MustardBear · 28/05/2026 18:57

Thanks @EleanorMc67 I’ll check those recommendations out & thanks @Nervousb2b for the sizing info - super helpful!

EleanorMc67 · 28/05/2026 18:58

@JanetheObscure The tucking detail on the waist is similar to the Jigsaw one? Comes in black too. Too full in the skirt?

I also love this dress from Roman. So flattering and comes in lots of different colours/patterns

I used to be a tomboy when I was younger. I never had the confidence to wear dresses. I changed all that a few years ago and I wear dresses now a lot of the time. I only wear cotton or natural fibres. Thank goodness I changed my ways. It was so hot yesterday and I wore a maxi dress with shorts under it to help with chafing. I experienced a breeze under my skirt a few times and I was so grateful. I now love dresses.

Stillwearingskinnies · 28/05/2026 22:00

Thanks @EleanorMc67 I will have a look at the Aspiga dresses.

I've also found this one on the Baukjen website which may be the right length on me (personally I think it's a weird length on the model)
https://www.baukjen.com/products/bella-organic-cheesecloth-midi-dress-bright-emerald?variant=58017767555453

And this on Eleven Loves
https://elevenloves.co.uk/products/dana-balloon-sleeve-cheesecloth-dress-navy?_pos=6&_sid=a67fb1f72&_ss=r

Also this
https://www.albaray.co.uk/products/red-cheesecloth-dress-ss26?_pos=1&_sid=47bbaffd7&_ss=r
which might swamp me

Lastly this,
https://www.hush-uk.com/maeve-cotton-cheesecloth-shirt-dress-vibrant-red/015132-1039.html?srsltid=AfmBOopOihkzWfB26aA9OLLD2FTm2LCG-u2XtXmYT4cu693yTGxac-pQPfw
but Hush quality is unpredictable.

Anyway, for anyone else that is looking for cheesecloth, not sleeveless, midi/maxi, plain dresses, and likes the Me & Em ones but feels they're a bit spenny, hope this helps!

Impressive sleuthing!!

The Baujken one looks quite similar in shape to the first Aspiga one, & is a great colour. Looks too short for me, sadly (I prefer a longer midi/maxi), so it might well be the perfect length on you!

I like the Eleven Loves one too - good for summer evenings.

Undecided about the Albaray one - the waist/hip seam looks as if it might divide the body in two?

Hopefully one of them suits! It's such a useful type of summer dress ...

willowstar · 28/05/2026 22:24

@krustykittens perhaps not your vibe at all but I wear these and my buggered crappy ankle is happy when I do. I wear with dresses. I wear custom orthotics and summer is a struggle. I have never found candles that support my flat foot and knackered ankle enough

Thanks, @EleanorMc67 I feel as though you’re my personal stylist! I like this one. A bit more than I’d rather pay, but it’s good inspiration.

I've got more separates now, but I still like and wear a Boden linen swing dress with lemons on, on holiday, also one which is just a glorified long yellow tube vest really from TU, a short cotton short sleeved dress from TU last year with a sort of leaf print, and a short white shirt dress with a pastel print from Oliver Bonas.

The last one is the only one I can find online now.
