What dresses are you all wearing?

Most of my Summer clothes no longer fit and I desperately need a couple of cool, floaty dresses and some shorts that are not too short.

What have you all bought recently that you’ve loved?

I really need some inspiration.

I wore this for the first time over the weekend and so many people complimented it. It's very cool and floaty. And it's on sale. It also comes in a plainer blue colour which I'm tempted by.

Damn your eyes, @CharlotteStreetW1 ...I went out and bought this yesterday on your recommendation. I never wear dresses, but this is perfect - cool, floaty, flattering. And now I am poor (again). I must stop reading these threads.

I like t shirt style or loose dresses...I don't do heat! And yes, these are all from Shein, I'm on a budget and shop where my budget allows!

I have a linen dress from Cos which is huge. I’m quite tall so it does swamp me too much. It’s a kind of oversized shirt dress. I have a few of them which I’ve got from Vinted. Very comfortable and airy.

How tall are you and what dress size.

hellswelshy · 28/05/2026 08:27

I have 2 versions of this dress from H&M, bought last year - the black floral and leopard print. Lovely dresses, need ironing but hey! I'm size 14-16 and 5 ft 5.

I recently got this dress from Tesco F&F, so comfortable.

What looks good on you will depend on your shape. I am a size 10 but most of the dresses posted, although looking nice enough in the pictures, would look absolutely hideous on me because I am an hourglass with large boobs so need enough room for those, but it has to be fitted about the waist else my belly looks fat when its not, it's because of how the material hangs. Many dresses seem to cater towards small breasted people as mine would never fit in some of them with specific shaping/styling around the breast area.

It might be helpful to say what size/shape you are so people who are similar will give an idea about what suits you.

I am sick of midi dresses now. I have been working really hard with weights for the last year, and don't feel the need to hide my legs away in a midi dress any more

Another size 10 hourglass figure here and I’m looking helplessly at most recommendations on this thread because they would look just awful on me. Case in point: I’ve just returned this dress. Top half suited me, bottom half is so voluminous (more so than in the photos) that it made my hips look huge. Shame, because otherwise it’s a lovely dress.

Anyone got any hourglass friendly suggestions?

RobinEllacotStrike · 28/05/2026 11:09

not a dress but this bamboo jumpsuit is deliciously cool even though its black - great basic, very soft & swishy. I'm getting a lot of WFH wear out of it.

That looks very similar to a H&M dress I got before covid but in navy dark blue with floral large print with red, beige, white flowers on. Surprisingly cool.

Thank you to whoever recommended White Stuff. I didn't realise they do petite sizing and am eagerly awaiting the arrival of this dress as a 5 foot nothing lady:

Didn't realise Roman also do petite and am very pleased with both of these dresses which arrived very quickly after ordering them online.

It's a nightmare isn't it. The dress you posted looked like it should have worked really well.

I recently bought this dress https://www.sherpaadventuregear.com/en-gb/products/womens-sajilo-dress-black

It doesn't look much, but it's actually really flattering. I am a 32E and bought the small. I think anyone with a larger cup size would struggled in the small, but it fits perfectly for me (I have quite high boobs and wear structured bras). It has drawstring waist so you can make it as small as you like. As soon as I tried it on I immediately wanted more in different colours because it looked so much better than it did on the website, but I'm not a fan of the blue and pink print. I will certainly be looking to see if they do different fabrics in the future.

The Sajilo Dress is a lightweight, stylish shirt dress. It features a flattering silhouette with adjustable drawcord waist for a tailored fit.

I would have thought that this, posted above by a PP, would work well? Though if you're short, maybe not as I think Jigsaw suits those on the taller side generally.

Thanks, great dress and in theory it should suit me. I tend to be in the anti-pockets minority as they over-emphasise my hips, but this does look very well cut.

I love the Jigsaw one, & am tall - but not an hourglass shape so I'm hesitant it will suit me! Ditto with this, which I really like but not sure if it will suit my tall-rectangle-with-fat-stomach shape ...!!! Though I realise handkerchief hems aren't for everyone.

Also, there are lots of shirred waist top & skirt coords around. As the elastication fits the body, it's flexible enough to suit a lot of body shapes & gives the appearance of a dress? Or jumpsuit if it comes with culottes.

Like this? I think though - like the dress that you tried, which should have been perfect but wasn't - it will depend on seeing it & trying it on. As just a difference of a few cms in narrowness/fullness can make all the difference between whether it will work on you or not.

@MustardBear If you like these, you might also like dresses from both these brands. I have a few of the printed fine cotton voile dresses (bought on eBay), & they are very cool & comfy.

@EleanorMc67@MrsSmithyLane
Thank you so much, that's helpful. It sounds like they would be too long for me, which is a shame. I might try a the short version but tbh I prefer my dresses calf length.
I may scour Vinted and perhaps chance it with a second hand one. If it's not right, I could always resell it.
I'm surprised they don't offer petite sizing.

Hi, @Stillwearingskinnies - I've just been looking at this brand & spotted that you can search for their cheesecloth dresses specifically. They're not as fashion-led as Me & Em, so I think most are probably not what you're after. But this one might well be a possibility as the cut is similar to the ones that Me & Em have issued for the last few years! And it's midi & will almost certainly not be cut for the tall only!!!

No black or navy, but I like the white & red.
