What dresses are you all wearing?

Most of my Summer clothes no longer fit and I desperately need a couple of cool, floaty dresses and some shorts that are not too short.

What have you all bought recently that you’ve loved?

I really need some inspiration.

I've recently bought this dress, it's very fine cotton, and beautifully wafty, it comes in lots of different prints.

I just adore OneHundred Stars clothing!

That is stunning! A beautiful shape. Is the colour on screen accurate? Such an unusual shade of red. Do you think it would work on someone tall and curvy (the tallness being relevant for where boobs sit)

Yes, the dress looks good but I’ve never seen an item so badly photoshopped! Zoom in on the pic….whoever tried to photoshop it needs to go back to IT classes for 12year olds!
Still a nice dress though!

I'm wearing Tallulah & Hope kaftan dresses.
They are viscose & so cool - dont stick at all, just hang beautifully from my shoulders creating ease & breeze. I initially wasn't keen on the front split but its a kaftan game changer keeping air circulating everywhere.

Cotton only options.. these shorts are brilliant for the price

Red side stripe jogger shorts

I know the website describes these shorts as burgundy but they look more red to me - what colour are they in reality?

Cantonet · 27/05/2026 12:04

@PomegranateVase I adore the colour of that green dress & the fact thats its a 100% cotton, even the lining. I wonder whether the front can be sewn up a bit as its a bit low. But then the back means you can't wear a bra anyway 🤔

Are those Asda dresses any good? I WFH so all my clothes are cheap and cheerful at the moment as I don’t see anyone 😝

I have this George dress which is lovely in this weather! https://direct.asda.com/george/women/dresses/black-sleeveless-tiered-jersey-mini-dress/GEM1417948,default,pd.html?cgid=D1M1G20C1

I love George dresses. Find them true to size. Great fabric. Well made for the price. I holiday abroad a lot and they are perfect for me.

I’m wearing this today, but in the multi coloured version. It reminds me a bit of those sheets we had in the 80’s. I love it and it’s very cool and comfortable.

I came here to recommend this dress too (and we were like minded in wearing it yesterday.)

I wore this for the first time over the weekend and so many people complimented it. It's very cool and floaty. And it's on sale. It also comes in a plainer blue colour which I'm tempted by.

Beautiful! I read this thread on nightshift, this dress arrived today 😂 Looks great on- perfect for holiday next week!

I’m tempted, although I do have many dresses…

It’s not that one. I couldn’t find it on the H&M site either. I bought it in store. Please excuse the mess in this pic - it’s in my steaming hook in my laundry cupboard.

That's really nice. Not as loud a green as the one I thought it was.

Don't apologise for any mess - have you seen the background in my photo upthread??!!!

I’m wearing this beautiful blue one from
Sosandar on repeat. It’s very comfortable, and I receive so many compliments.

I’m waiting for this green broderie anglaise one to arrive from H&M, and I’m hoping it fits well as I love it.

I love the colour of the blue dress.

What looks good on you will depend on your shape. I am a size 10 but most of the dresses posted, although looking nice enough in the pictures, would look absolutely hideous on me because I am an hourglass with large boobs so need enough room for those, but it has to be fitted about the waist else my belly looks fat when its not, it's because of how the material hangs. Many dresses seem to cater towards small breasted people as mine would never fit in some of them with specific shaping/styling around the breast area.

It might be helpful to say what size/shape you are so people who are similar will give an idea about what suits you.

I am sick of midi dresses now. I have been working really hard with weights for the last year, and don't feel the need to hide my legs away in a midi dress any more

EleanorMc67 · 27/05/2026 22:34

Thanks for finding it! Might have to try it now ...

Yeah I am hourglass with a shorter torso and long legs and big chest. So many dresses just don’t sit well on me at all.

Yes! Mostly all saints, with a mix of Me and Thee, Norma Kamali and vintage Donna Karan. I don't like the newer Donna Karan New York stuff as it's a bit dull and I am waiting for Urban Zen clothes to trickle down to the second hand market as they are waaaay out of my budget brand new. I used to go crazy for Me and Thee but now everything seems very 70s disco and nothing suitable for day wear. :( I have sifted through them and there is more colour than I thought, but nothing outrageous, mostly copper and orange and gorgeous sage green slinky Donna Karan number that is begging to be taken out to dinner. I do have a lovely terracotta Hush dress that looks like a greek toga. It's quite a silky fabric and no matter how I abuse it, it never wrinkles. I can literally ball it up in my hand and bury it in the bottom of a bag and it bounces back. It's very light and floaty. I really wish Hush would do it again, I would buy it in lots of different colours. Footwear is a real problem for me as I have very weak ankles and like a lot of support so I am thinking of getting a pair of brown cowboy boots. I tend to live in deck shoes but I need something a bit more rock and roll (with support for a fractured ankle that doesn't seem to be healing). Any ideas?!

Didn't know of either Me & Thee or DK's super-expensive Urban Zen range! The latter is gorgeous, but yes - £500 for a silk camisole ... I really like the 70s disco look of the Me & Thee stuff! But then I love that era ... they're very Studio 54?

Do you mean cowboy boots for summer? It's not a look I'm personally that keen on - though I've never felt that I could carry off cowboy boots in a remotely cool way. (I have long wavy hair & would feel like an ageing country & western singer!!!) Plus, wouldn't they be horribly hot & sweaty?

Would a sandal with a well-cushioned flat/flatform sole & straps around the ankle as well as across the foot work? Maybe something with a bit of studding to give an edge? Like a chunkier gladiator sandal? How much support does your ankle need - as your deck shoes wouldn't provide any, would they?
