What's good in M&S right now?

Live quite rurally so don't often get the chance to shop physically - always online. Tomorrow I'm going to a fairly large M&S. Would love to see what, if anything, people rate there. Open to any suggestions.

I’ve ordered this top and trousers for holidays, and it’s either going to be fantastic or dreadful😂. I have a fair few black and white linen separates so would hopefully get a lot of outfits by adding these
https://www.marksandspencer.com/linen-rich-drawstring-wide-leg-trousers/p/clp60774902?intid=mobileapppdpshare…I’ve no idea why it’s linking to paisley pattern, I’ve ordered the polka dots

Starting to think I should just have all my wages paid directly to M&S. Have just been on the website and bought another two pairs of trousers because of this thread.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/05/2026 09:33

I find it depends on the store the way they arrange things. The store in Oxford Street (Pantheon) had loads of white/cream dresses at the front but looking for black trousers they were dotted about the store . I know it's to give you the this skirt would work with these tops ideas .

If I go looking for something specific, I will never find it . If I cut through our local one , I find something . Often not my size so I order online having seen IRL

My DD gets loads of her workwear there as they do a long/extra long trousers leg

I bought a couple of nice pairs of jeans recently (high rise flare and some straight legged) but they seem to have messed about with their sizes again. I’ve had to size up in every thing that I’ve bought recently and size up twice in a couple of things. I saw a couple of people on Instagram saying the same thing too. Definitely worth trying on if you can’t get back there easily.

Me too. I used to be a 10 regular. Now Im a 12 short and I havent put any weight on or shrunk.

I’ve just bought some wide legged blue linen trousers, quite wide, and they look fantastic much to my astonishment given I am a short arse (DH approved). Also will be ordering 2 more premium white cotton T-shirts that seem to have a bit of stretch in them. www.marksandspencer.com/cotton-rich-premium-t-shirt/p/clp60774475?color=SOFTWHITE#intid=pid_pg1pip5g4r2c3 Obviously they have billions of white T-shirt options to choose from. And got this https://www.marksandspencer.com/cotton-rich-pocket-detail-knitted-jacket/p/clp60781031?color=DARKKHAKI#intid=pid_pg1pip48g4r1c4%7Cprodflag_srp_ts_QP_24 Which is really really nice.

Do you have a link to the trousers please @LadyGardenersQuestionTime ?

I follow this stylist Wears My Money, she has great, mainly casual, style ideas; very MN friendly. She has an M&S special this week https://www.wearsmymoney.com/fashion/what-i-am-buying-at-ms-right-now/

(She often has discount codes for other shops .. noticed on her email newsletter she has a link to a bank holiday weekend 25% off discount code for Louise Wade jewellery, which is nice! KATES25 - LouiseWade.com)

I follow her too, & like a lot of her recommendations. She's much more "street" than me - trainers & jeans variants feature heavily! But there's still enough to like & that works with my own more eclectic style.

Apart from their jeans, sportswear and basic t-shirts, I’m struggling again to find anything that really appeals - I find so much of it just frumpy and incredibly bland, and all the frills and bows just put me off. It’s beginning to all look like Per Una to me.

Agree with the jean sizing too, so inconsistent - I made a point of measuring 4 pairs of different jeans in a size 8 in store the other week and only 2 were the same around the waist.

I've always hated the Per Una stuff! Hippy bag lady IMO - & I actually like a bit of quite boho stuff! Lots of the items look like they've been put together from the offcuts swept from an Indian factory floor ...

I'm really surprised there are so few Autograph recommendations or purchases! More expensive I know, but worth it IMO.

EleanorMc67 · 04/05/2026 21:01

I've neither seen these in the flesh, or purchased any (yet! Keeping an eye out on Vinted/eBay & waiting for the sales).

They're all from the Autograph range, & are pieces that would slot well into my wardrobe: Leather collarless jacket; wide wool-mix trousers; high-rise wide indigo jeans; white full cotton skirt; fitted denim jacket.

Also Autograph: linen jacket; wide silk trousers; lace shirt; striped T-shirt; satin slip dress.

And their Jaeger range (which I now count as M&S as they own it). Three dresses I think I'd get quite a bit of wear out of - & burgundy-brown wide silk trousers & a lace-trimmed skirt.

I've realised that almost everything I've posted is styled to look like very polished, smart office/casual wear - when in actuality I'm freelance & work from home, & my footwear is often wellies for site visits! I also have wavy big hair not a sleek chignon, & am yet to wax my legs this year ... so if I buy any of these I will immediately un-polish the look! 😁

So much lovely stuff but I am usually a 12 in the trousers but have had to be a 14 or even 16 to feel like I’m not going to burst a seam! It’s so depressing - I never thought Marks and Sparks would make me feel so fat 😢

I had exactly the same experience over the weekend. I actually put everything back and left. I know the size on the label ‘doesn’t matter’ but when you’re actively working on losing weight and have to go 2 sizes up to get the jeans over your thighs/bum it’s not good for the self esteem.
I went into another shop and got pretty much the same jeans in my usual size 🤷‍♀️

Beyondamountainandoverthesea · 03/05/2026 09:02

Me too it is totally crazy and really bloody annoying especially if you order online. I have to buy 12 and 14 in regular and short then send back what doesnt fit. Crazy sizing.

I’ve been doing the same with trousers, and in some cases sending all 4 back as none fit. So not ordering any more.

and the tops are out as well. I’m a 16-18. But the ones I’ve bought recently are a 20.

Yes, its one thing when I am an 18 just in case my stomach feels bloated, which already made me a bit down!, versus having to get a 20 in M&S. I just cant bring myself to do this.

growinguptobreakingdown · 05/05/2026 11:00

I just came back from M&S with a pair of their barrel jeans for £30,.Used to be a size 8 in M&S but I'm more a 10 in real life. The size 10 fit perfectly. They look great and the denim is grest quality. Also bought some £16 gold strappy sandals for summer.

Viviennemary · 05/05/2026 11:24

I went a few days ago. Didn't like a lot of the stuff. Bit too many bows and frills. There was a nice black skirt with white polka dots. Not many skirts at all. And most were maxi with frills. I was disappointed and didn't buy anything.

Gettingbysomehow · 05/05/2026 11:30

Sorry but I can't stand all the high waisted trousers - all that sweaty fabric right under my boobs in summer. I have a very short body and long legs so it doesn't work.

Crunchymum · 05/05/2026 12:53

itsnothingoriginal · 03/05/2026 10:11

They have changed their sizing recently. Loads of influencers complaining about it on Instagram!

I bought this in the green yesterday (sized up 🙄) which I really love https://www.marksandspencer.com/cotton-rich-tricot-zip-up-track-jacket/p/clp60786049?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share

I have just been in to collect some trousers (incidentally I was collecting the linen trousers mentioned in this thread but I had already ordered them) and I can confirm this green track jacket is absolutely gorgeous. It looks miles better in real life than in the picture too and feels lovely.

They only had it in a small - my size - but I was in a rush so didn't try it on. If it's there tomorrow it's mine.

I have about a grands worth of stuff on my wish list at the moment - although due to losing weight and not being sure of my size some things I have are in two sizes. I will need only really be ordering a few bikini sets but I am in love with almost all the Nobody's Child dresses.

This one in particular is spectacular - https://www.marksandspencer.com/pure-lyocell-printed-midi-skater-dress/p/clp23059800?color=YELLOW but I am only 5ft 1in so it will be too long for me.

Also love https://www.marksandspencer.com/pure-cotton-v-neck-midi-waisted-dress/p/clp23059861?color=YELLOW and am excited to see this comes in petite sizing - https://www.marksandspencer.com/pure-cotton-midaxi-waisted-dress/p/clp23059752?color=PINK (can't really be paying £90 for one dress though!!)

You'll be relieved to know that low-slung trousers & skirts have taken over on the catwalks & fashion pages ...

My stomach is not ready for it & will NOT be participating ... 😬!!!

I was jeans shopping this morning. I’ve been a size 12 in their jeans for a while and still am, they don’t seem to me to have messed about with the waist/hip sizing at all. ConfusedThey seem to have sorted out their short length which for a while was far too long, it’s now a little longer than ideal for me (5’1”) but ok. I got black and mid blue straight leg Sienna - the wide styles don’t look good on short people unless they’re skinny IMO. I tried on some Mom jeans - I’ve got some from a few years ago which are perfect for my shape (pear) but a tad short. The current ones are perfect length but far too baggy.

I had a vague look at tops but nothing caught my eye except in a wtf sort or way.
