What's good in M&S right now?

Live quite rurally so don't often get the chance to shop physically - always online. Tomorrow I'm going to a fairly large M&S. Would love to see what, if anything, people rate there. Open to any suggestions.

the one jacket I liked the look of was the per una suedette one liked to near the start of the thread but of course the sleeves were far too long.

Thank fuck it’s not just me on the sizing. I’ve been really down this last week having tried squeezing into several jeans/trousers in there in my usual size…

Yes, I was thinking the same. M&S sizes were always kind to me… Not anymore!

These are amazing if you have the right build. So much linen and such nice thick fabric. I really don't know how they manage to sell these at this price.

I don't know if anyone else has chimed in on this but I've got the black ones and 'sand' ones in these as they're just so gooooood. They're so wide so they're a bit like a skirt almost but with a better cut around the waist, if that even makes sense. I've been dressing the black one up for events and have the sand ones for our summer holiday. So versatile, flattering, and comfortable! Fit wise I'm in between and sized down as the back is elasticated.

Oh, I love really wide palazzo-style trousers! And they come in navy AND black - AND in long! Thanks for that - I may have to investigate further ...

(Though it was 8 degrees here today ... 😶)

You'll be relieved to know that low-slung trousers & skirts have taken over on the catwalks & fashion pages ...

My stomach is not ready for it & will NOT be participating ... 😬!!!

Thank goodness 😆

I’m 5’3 with short arms and the arms of this jacket hit my wrist bone… rare but true in this case

I have just been in to collect some trousers (incidentally I was collecting the linen trousers mentioned in this thread but I had already ordered them) and I can confirm this green track jacket is absolutely gorgeous. It looks miles better in real life than in the picture too and feels lovely.

They only had it in a small - my size - but I was in a rush so didn't try it on. If it's there tomorrow it's mine.

I have about a grands worth of stuff on my wish list at the moment - although due to losing weight and not being sure of my size some things I have are in two sizes. I will need only really be ordering a few bikini sets but I am in love with almost all the Nobody's Child dresses.

This one in particular is spectacular - https://www.marksandspencer.com/pure-lyocell-printed-midi-skater-dress/p/clp23059800?color=YELLOW but I am only 5ft 1in so it will be too long for me.

Also love https://www.marksandspencer.com/pure-cotton-v-neck-midi-waisted-dress/p/clp23059861?color=YELLOW and am excited to see this comes in petite sizing - https://www.marksandspencer.com/pure-cotton-midaxi-waisted-dress/p/clp23059752?color=PINK (can't really be paying £90 for one dress though!!)

Edited

Vinted has LOADS of Nobody’s Child dresses for £10-30. Loads.

I ordered this, but it wasn't as nice a yellow in person (my opinion) so sent back

*Tinned soup (yes - seriously)
*Plain chocolate digestives - nice light and crunchy base and extra thick chocolate compared to the big brands and supermarket own brands
*Ready mixed cocktails in cans - best ever
*Red pepper and feta lattice pastry - yummy
They need to do more work on their bread offerings - the artisan breads they sell are good if you get them very fresh but they give them too long a shelf life and you can end up buying stale/dry loaves that are days old and past their best but still with in their given "best before".

Me too.

Im glad people are saying M&S sizing has changed, I thought I'd 'filled out' when I had to size up!

You are on the style and beauty thread -unless you intend to wear all that :)

The link I clicked was simply stated as "whats good in MS right now" - no mention of clothing but I can now see that it is within the style and beauty domain. No - I don't recommend wearing any of those.
My view on M&S is that the clothes offering is unappealing - I never buy them. I just buy food and drink there. I would not be bothered if they gave up on clothes and became a grocery store!
Its odd how they are good at one thing and poor at another (IMHO).

keepincool · 07/05/2026 14:19

I had a bit of a splurge in M&S yesterday and purchased shorts, trousers and tops. I already have some of their cotton midi skirts from last year, which are really comfortable and light.

The cropped jeans are really nice and can be dressed up or down. The shorts sit nearer to my knees as I've got short legs, so look a little dressier - I got them in blue denim too. The brown top is lightweight and the sleeve length is good. I'm quite happy with my haul - I can find things that I like in M&S even at the grand young age of 60 😊

I've got these linen trousers in the polka dot. I'm a beefy size 20, so I didn't feel that the coordinating top would be my friend. I felt really happy and confident in the trousers whilst in Spain last week, though, and even my (usually completely ignorant) DH commented on them!

I shouldn’t open these threads, I ordered these as click and collect, went down to try them on and wore them straight out in the evening. Bought the shirt too. They are beautiful as promised!

I've ordered the trousers but couldn't find the shirt for love nor money, would you be able to link to it @trainedopossum ?

Thechateau · 08/05/2026 19:28

I can see it in the stripy brown, perhaps that's what you mean. I'd like it in navy and I don't think that exists

CautiousPoster · 08/05/2026 21:33

Nothing in M&S is as good as their new Gluten Free Colin the Caterpillar. I might buy 25 and make the boxes into an outfit. Does that count

Yes, I bought the striped brown version. I guess they didn’t do a matching top for all the colours, which is a shame, navy would’ve sold well I’d have thought.

I’ve ordered the cream trousers in the longer length too, going to collect those tomorrow.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 09/05/2026 00:29

I was in a huge M&S today and very little tempted me. Considering that I almost bankrupted myself last December as there was so much gorgeous stuff on the rails, I can’t quite believe that this is the same shop. Dreary, dreary, dreary and if it isn’t dreary it’s frilly and ruffled.
