What's good in M&S right now?

Live quite rurally so don't often get the chance to shop physically - always online. Tomorrow I'm going to a fairly large M&S. Would love to see what, if anything, people rate there. Open to any suggestions.

While millions go to food banks you humble brag about a trip.to an overpriced supermarket. Go and enjoy it without the Mumsnet parade.

People going to food banks doesn’t mean other people can’t enjoy shopping at a reasonably priced high street shop. It’s hardly Hermes or Chanel. And I say that as someone who volunteers at the food banks.

I've got one from Sainsbury's, £25. 'Stone cropped linen shaket' - different colours including that green!

Edited to remove rubbish link.

If that had the pull-in at the waist, it would be very close indeed, but still no good colours for me. If they had, would definitely have tried it to see whether I could add the drawstring myself. Great find though, looks a bargain.

Much pricier (of course!), but this looks lovely.

The absolute best blouson/utility type jackets on the high street though - & a great range - are at Massimo Dutti. Lots of linen, cotton, suede too - & not all in "sludge"!

@DabralorI have the same issue with M&S trousers, discovered it’s not a waist size problem but because they opt for an unusually short front rise which leads to a bad fit on some body shapes.

I’m glad you said this! I’ve noticed the same recently

EvelynBeatrice · 11/05/2026 12:20

The thing about the sizing is M&S isn’t even consistent in the same colour in the same style - two different size 10 jeans in the same style and colourway can be of entirely different fits!

And of course the mumsnet parade is because there are lots of clothes lovers who like hearing about what others have seen or bought ( even if they haven’t bought or can’t buy anything themselves).

The British fashion industry is worth millions to our economy and employs vast numbers. That generates the taxes and government revenue necessary for benefits.

Sorry, wrong thread.

Bumping this thread because I discovered a great top from one of the previous recommendations.

That’s abit cryptic. Which top did you discover?

I didn't mean to be cryptic. A poster further up the thread linked to a white puffed sleeve top. I would never have thought of it, but I succumbed & love it, so wondered if there were any more recommendations.
I have found that M&S can have some good buys, but wish they had more natural fibres.

SpiralSister · 12/06/2026 17:41

I agree. This ‘cotton rich’ business! Actual cotton please, you skinflints.

Always wonder if these repeated M&S messages are an advertising scheme to distract from the fact that it’s awful quality now and the majority is made of carcinogenic recycled plastic.

I just came back from M&S with a pair of their barrel jeans for £30,.Used to be a size 8 in M&S but I'm more a 10 in real life. The size 10 fit perfectly. They look great and the denim is grest quality. Also bought some £16 gold strappy sandals for summer.

Do you have a link to the sandals?
