What's good in M&S right now?

Live quite rurally so don't often get the chance to shop physically - always online. Tomorrow I'm going to a fairly large M&S. Would love to see what, if anything, people rate there. Open to any suggestions.

Me too it is totally crazy and really bloody annoying especially if you order online. I have to buy 12 and 14 in regular and short then send back what doesnt fit. Crazy sizing.

The sizing has gone bonkers. Last year I had some lovely wide leg red jeans. I lost weight though and they no longer fitted me so I sold them on Vinted. Couldn’t get the size down (14) so I waited until the summer stock came in this year. Ordered the pink version in a 14. Couldn’t get them over my hips. I freaked out. Then I found out about the re-sizing thing and realised it wasn’t just me. Just means you have to keep ordering loads of different sizes and cuts now. I’m constantly returning stuff.

I’ve bought some cotton palazzo culottes in both beige and white and they’re fab. I bought the long length so they skim the ankle. Really lovely!

I bought those too. Also a red retro style jelly bag, a red shirred retro style top and a linen swing dress in ivory.

They have changed their sizing recently. Loads of influencers complaining about it on Instagram!

I bought this in the green yesterday (sized up 🙄) which I really love https://www.marksandspencer.com/cotton-rich-tricot-zip-up-track-jacket/p/clp60786049?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share

Please can I ask about sizing?

how much did you need to size up? They have medium (cited as a 12-14) and large (16-18) I am a large 12-14 on top, more of a 14-16 on bottom.

if it comes up small should I be opting for the large size?

Thanks

Nothing, I thought they had improved on their clothing recently but looking at the new season stuff , it’s gone back to being weird . And the search facility is rubbish . I put in dresses, occasion, as I’ve got a wedding to go to and some of the dresses were awful

I follow this stylist Wears My Money, she has great, mainly casual, style ideas; very MN friendly. She has an M&S special this week https://www.wearsmymoney.com/fashion/what-i-am-buying-at-ms-right-now/

(She often has discount codes for other shops .. noticed on her email newsletter she has a link to a bank holiday weekend 25% off discount code for Louise Wade jewellery, which is nice! KATES25 - LouiseWade.com)

What I Am Buying At M&S Right Now - WearsMyMoney

I’ve picked up a few things from Marks & Spencer recently, so I thought I’d share a quick post about what I’m loving from them right now

Love the high waisted wide leg jeans.

I would def recommend trying on different lengths and sizes. I had to buy long length as the crotch of the regular length was waaaay too short and gave me an uncomfortably graphic shape. Long length made the seat/crotch a better fit even if the legs are approx half an inch too long. Size up reg length was too big.on the waist.

I had.to try on each leg length in each colour in 14 and 16 to get my 14 long.

I’ve just bought this top in ivory. I love it. So flattering as can pull the drawstring to give yourself some shape. Gorgeous fabric. I’ve rushed home and ordered the raspberry and chocolate colours too. Comes up big so ended up sizing down.

Im large busted so NEVER find flattering tops so I’m delighted.

The jeans are good and good footwear, loafers, sandals and ballerinas especially.

lazymum99 · 03/05/2026 16:00

I am so glad I saw these posts on the jeans sizes. I bought their boyfriend ankle grazers and I used to fit into a 12/14. Now the 16 is tight on my waist. I bought it because I couldn't bear the idea of going even higher.
I was really down about it. They are lovely soft jeans tho.

Ilovemsrachel · 03/05/2026 16:07

Oh my god thank you for confirming the sizing thing! I felt so bad about not fitting into my usual size 12 that I didn’t even return them, I just figured I would have to lose weight. To be fair I could do with losing a bit but I was very confused about how tight these jeans were, especially as size 12 in new look and H&M had room to spare, while these I could barely zip up. I wonder if the resizing thing is to do with them trying to be more directional/hiring a topshop designer. Seems counter productive though considering their demographic

lazymum99 · 03/05/2026 16:12

It is also inconsistent. The high waisted wide leg jeans were too tight in a 14 and I have to wear a belt with the 16. But the boyfriend 16 are tight. Aaargh

lazymum99 · 03/05/2026 16:13

I can’t buy online anymore and end up with about 3 sizes of each style in the fitting room

I initially tried a small which was a bit tight around the waist so I went medium as I'm a curvy 10-12 with a large bust. Quite roomy in the shoulders but much better around my hips!

I bought this - was trying it on and a passing woman said how great it looked, and it does. Could easily be passed off as leather and much more expensive.

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 03/05/2026 17:42

I'm fed up with having to order 4 pairs of jeans/trousers in the hope that one will fit.

M&S offered collection from home for returns from my previous home, but since moving they don't. This is really inconvenient for me.

Do they still offer it in some places, or have they stopped completely ?

SpiralSister · 03/05/2026 18:03

Dabralor · 02/05/2026 22:44

So much lovely stuff but I am usually a 12 in the trousers but have had to be a 14 or even 16 to feel like I’m not going to burst a seam! It’s so depressing - I never thought Marks and Sparks would make me feel so fat 😢

I keep hearing this about the sizing, but my experience is sizing down! I’m a 12 usually but a 10 in M&S jeans. I wonder if it’s the cut that’s changed, rather than the sizing itself, iyswim?

Wheech · 03/05/2026 06:24

They do a Slim fit cotton top in various colours for £10 which I love so much I have 4 of them. They are great with wide legged trousers (which are also good in M&S) or jeans (ditto) and get an unbelievable amount of compliments for a cheap basic top.

They have upped their game massively recently.

I have at least four of these tops, too. They are so versatile.

Also their wide leg, draw string waist, linen mix trousers. £22 a pair and so much nicer and better fitting than the £38 (or £34, can't remember!) ones with zip and proper fastening from Next. Wore the brown pair to work the other day and lots of people commented on them.

Silverbirchleaf · 03/05/2026 18:40

@PigglyWigglyOhYeah I’ve got those £22 trousers in chocolate brown. Wore them today in fact. Lovely trousers. Think I’ll get a lot of use out of them this summer. Such good value.(and I sized down! )

LikelyLacking · 03/05/2026 19:17

Apart from their jeans, sportswear and basic t-shirts, I’m struggling again to find anything that really appeals - I find so much of it just frumpy and incredibly bland, and all the frills and bows just put me off. It’s beginning to all look like Per Una to me.

Agree with the jean sizing too, so inconsistent - I made a point of measuring 4 pairs of different jeans in a size 8 in store the other week and only 2 were the same around the waist.

That's what I bought. I just thought it was red, I didn't realise it was raspberry! I like the other colours too.
