Does foundation or base layer of tinted cream that you can't see exist for older skin?

Oricolt · 29/04/2026 18:49

I'm 48. I look older. I am fair and freckly with wrinkles and visible pores.

I wear either no makeup or just a bit of mascara.

I would quite like a layer on my face that sort of evens up the colour and helps me look less haggard. I won't be doing layers of product, or buffing with a pointy egg shaped sponge.

Does such a thing exist? I tried something but I could see it on my face like a paste. I know it's normal to be able to see foundation, especially on older skin, but I don't want that on my face.

Touche eclat. You can put it on with a brush. Its very light and looks great on. Doesnt settle into wrinkles or dry skin out.

Twattergy · 29/04/2026 18:52

L'oreal serum foundation is very light in texture but provides great coverage (for me!). Try applying it with a big foundation brush for even more blurring. You can use it sparingly and build as needed.

Bryonyberries · 29/04/2026 18:54

I like Nivea tinted moisturiser. It feels light and evens the skin tone. I usually add some face power over the top to finish.

I also use this, it’s light but gives enough coverage to even things out without being cakey / obvious. I get the one with plumping / peptides

Oricolt · 29/04/2026 18:55

Is foundation for putting under makeup?

Or can I just wear it without other makeup?

OP posts:
Iloveeverycat · 29/04/2026 18:56

CC or BB cream is great for very light coverage doesn't cake and evens out skin tone.

Oricolt · 29/04/2026 18:58

I'm googling. Is Touched Eclat a 'radiance perfecting pen'? That's what's coming up on Google.

Hi! I am a makeup artist - Finding that 'invisible' finish is all about the compatibility between the product formula and your skin's natural chemistry. To provide an accurate recommendation, I’ll need a bit more detail regarding your skin type. Knowing whether your skin requires a water-based or oil-based formula is essential to ensuring the product integrates seamlessly without sitting on the surface or breaking up throughout the day. Are you currently experiencing any specific concerns like dryness, dehydration, or excess oil?

CMOTDibbler · 29/04/2026 18:59

I'm 53 and wear the Chanel watery tint https://www.chanel.com/gb/makeup/p/158830/les-beiges-water-fresh-tint-water-fresh-tint-with-micro-droplet-pigments-bare-skin-effect-natural-and-luminous-healthy-glow/ which you just brush on after your moisturiser. It really gives you a glow without settling into lines or looking like its sitting on your face

Raera · 29/04/2026 19:00

If you are freckly/fair skinned (like me) you may want to consider one which includes SPF?
I use Clinique CC

CC or BB cream is great for very light coverage doesn't cake and evens out skin tone.

It was bb cream I tried, but I could see it on my face. It didn't look bad. It looked just like all my colleagues. But I could see it.

I use this: https://www.superdrug.com/skin/sun-care/face-sun-cream/garnier-vitamin-c-uv-brightening-fluid-glow-spf50-40ml/p/839961?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21718485800&gbraid=0AAAAADp4mz-8TNH1ljUg72QrdbuFBl03S&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2MbPBhCSARIsAP3jP9zY0_cPxDsRlMWBEfEDqyWxcofP_vvxrLv3rVVZzA7ORZ9HqJt7c-EaAhn7EALw_wcB

And if I want a bit more (i.e. when I'm looking extra haggard) i pop a bit of this on top: https://www.boots.com/garnier-vitamin-c-wonder-tint-spf50and-40ml-10375983?traffic=paid.shopping&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21096115648&gbraid=0AAAAA-AdmwRFXXP0XDhyT6JJ80JnDIpog&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2MbPBhCSARIsAP3jP9zd1bXM-1rG0uO3pWfoP8by9tnqp9DXVANU34_la_u9EAkxj5UNtR8aAhYYEALw_wcB

Also - use this a few times a week, it makes a massive difference: https://www.lookfantastic.com/p/st.-tropez-self-tan-purity-face-mist-80ml/11648200/?affil=thggpsad&switchcurrency=GBP&shippingcountry=GB&affil=thggpsad&kwds=&thg_ppc_campaign=20544267089&adtype=pla_with_promotion&product_id=11648200&cq_src=google_ads&cq_cmp=20544267089&cq_con=&cq_term=&cq_med=pla_with_promotion&cq_plac=&cq_net=x&cq_plt=gp&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20548249894&gbraid=0AAAAAD-fXiogGew-bgnML-qqnm-gsFjS1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2MbPBhCSARIsAP3jP9y_OtpS0d1lG-JotqyAo8CS_u14047G98un-wI_3Iu3PY5KGV-fLzsaAvkFEALw_wcB

Whoops75 · 29/04/2026 19:03

I would go with a tinted SPF
There’s loads available for every budget.
Shades from fair to dark so if unsure go to a shop that has assistance available.

Hellinnnnn · 29/04/2026 19:03

I’m quite a bit older (58) and recently got a Vichy moisturiser for 60+ skin called Rose Platinum. I never wear makeup really, for similar reasons to you, but this makes my skin look incredible. Sort of less lined and rather glowy. You need to add your own SPF as it’s just a moisturiser, but I think it’s incredible.

SisterMaryImmaculate · 29/04/2026 19:07

Erborian CC Cream. Similar skin to yours and it works a treat.

dfitesh6753 · 29/04/2026 19:12

It’s expensive but I bloody love Clinic Care’s tinted SPF. It’s taken years of trying what felt like every BB cream under the sun.

Nitgel · 29/04/2026 19:12

Nars Pure radiant tinted.moisturisers are lovely. Very light but just enough coverage.

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 29/04/2026 19:13

Bare Minerals complexion rescue

Oricolt · 29/04/2026 19:15

OK. Lots of suggestions. I think I'll go to a shop and see if there are testers or samples.

I use L'Oreal magic bb cream.it comes out of the tube white but changes colour as you apply it. I just use my fingers and put it just where I need it. It has a kind of blurring effect and it seems to last well.

Oricolt · 29/04/2026 19:16

Thank you, for the suggestions.

Erborian CC Cream. Similar skin to yours and it works a treat.

I use this all the time (I’m 62 and VERY pale skinned!!). It’s great 👍🏻

almondflake · 29/04/2026 19:19

I love Oskia nutribronze , it’s a sheer tinted serum that brings a lovely glow to my skin . I just use 1 pump on a brush, it stays pretty much all day . More than 1 is too dark for me as i have quite fair skin .
It’s not the cheapest but you can find it on offer on various websites .

maftaz · 29/04/2026 19:19

I'm a good bit older than you OP and honestly I've given up on foundations and tinted stuff, and I've tried many. On me most of those products just slide off my face or make me look odd. Yep, I know many get great results from such stuff, but not me!

I discovered matt powder foundation applied with a big brush, topped with a flick of bare minerals, touch of powder blush and off I go. It just works for me and is light, doesn't sit in the lines (of which I have many...) and lasts all day. If I told you where I get it and how much you'd laugh. I'll see if I reveal all later.
