Does foundation or base layer of tinted cream that you can't see exist for older skin?

I'm 48. I look older. I am fair and freckly with wrinkles and visible pores.

I wear either no makeup or just a bit of mascara.

I would quite like a layer on my face that sort of evens up the colour and helps me look less haggard. I won't be doing layers of product, or buffing with a pointy egg shaped sponge.

Does such a thing exist? I tried something but I could see it on my face like a paste. I know it's normal to be able to see foundation, especially on older skin, but I don't want that on my face.

Glossier Skin Tint is very light coverage, but also doesn't look like foundation on. It's your skin but better. Very nice range of skin tones. This is my personal favorite and I've been using it for years.

I like a tinted sunscreen for summer. CeraVe has a nice mineral one, but it only has one shade. I tried the Elf Halo Glow Skin Tint and it was very heavy, more like a full coverage foundation than a skin tint. It does have a decent shade range. I tossed this one, it did not work for me at all. I just got a Beauty of Joseon tinted sunscreen, it is not mineral and very light coverage. It's slightly oilier than the Glossier Skin Tint. There's a range of skin tones, but less than the Glossier.

Definitely visit a Space Nk or Sephora. They sell Erborian, Dr Jart and IT Cosmetics. Then you can try, I bought Erborian as everyone on here raves about it, unfortunately my skin didn't like it.

Dr Haushka tinted day cream is a miracle worker. I mix it with a BB cream for a bit Mir coverage. I’m 59.

You don't need loads of recommendations...you just need Eborian cc cream! Listen us all! It's magic stuff!

Ooh I’m going to try this mixed with my Dr Haushka now!

I'm 53 and wear the Chanel watery tint https://www.chanel.com/gb/makeup/p/158830/les-beiges-water-fresh-tint-water-fresh-tint-with-micro-droplet-pigments-bare-skin-effect-natural-and-luminous-healthy-glow/ which you just brush on after your moisturiser. It really gives you a glow without settling into lines or looking like its sitting on your face

I’ve had this and it’s nice but I think it’s very expensive for what is basically tinted water.

Morepositivemum · 30/04/2026 19:45

Clarins bb cream is amazing but only if you’re lucky with their shades!

WhereAreWeNow · 30/04/2026 19:46

I like Erborian CC.

I swear by the ELF clear primer. About £10, comes in a small pump dispenser. It's the whitish translucent bottle. Blues everything, stays slightly balmy waxy with no shine at all, it's actually a miracle. Works on dry as hell skin as well as greasier patches. It's my one miracle product.

SardinesOnButteredToast · 30/04/2026 19:49

I don't use foundation on top, by the way, literally just the primer.

Trinny BFF. Looks like you on a good day with 8 hours sleep.
I tried the Eborian CC cream before and found it too thick.

I think it's great, it's the only foundation type thing I wear now at 62. It's lighter than any tinted moisturiser, cc or BB cream which is the whole point of it, just makes skin look better but with very very minimal coverage. There's no other product out there like it which is why I'm willing to pay a lot for it.

Victoria Beckham the drops, it’s v expensive though, but it’s the best foundation I’ve ever tried, I’m in my 50s. It sinks into the skin and does exactly what your are asking for, and you don’t need much. My skin looks flawless, bright, glowy and perfect. And you’d not know I was wearing it.

Boots No 7 Pro Artist Weightless Silk foundation. Bloody fantastic stuff.

Actually, looking at the photo of the Victoria Beckham foundation 'drops' above, and going by that poster's description of it, I'd say this No 7 is a dupe of the VB one.

Gently I’ve used them all, from no 7 to Armani, and honestly it doesn’t come close I can’t believe the difference it makes, it looks like you don’t have it on, but uour skin is perfect and dewy,

Passingthrough123 · 30/04/2026 21:02

I'm 54 and use Dr Jart+ colour corrective cream in lieu of foundation. It's green in the pot but smooths on like foundation and gives me such a lovely glow that I don't need anything else on top. I have rosacea but I'd use it even if I didn't!

CarbonArtist · 30/04/2026 21:15

Erborian CC Cream, expensive but so worth it! I have tried dozens of tinted SPFs, and nothing compares. It goes on so easily, just like applying moisturiser - only fingers required. And the finish is so natural, it’s undetectable, like a second skin.

CheddarCheeseAndCrispSandwich · 29/04/2026 19:18

I use this all the time (I’m 62 and VERY pale skinned!!). It’s great 👍🏻

Another vote for Eborian - I use the BB and CC cream - i find the most natural is the CC dull brightening version in the purple tube - v natural and sheer- I'm early 60s with fair hair and freckled skin

madameimadam · 30/04/2026 21:24

Came here to suggest Erborian CC cream. I see I’ve been beaten to it numerous times!!

it’s magic in a tube

Lotsalotsapasta · 30/04/2026 21:28

It Cosmetics CC cream. The coverage is great and not heavy at all.

Quacking4it · 30/04/2026 21:30

I'm 45 and been using Lisa Eldridge but it's starting to feel too heavy and sits in creases... I went to space NK and the girl suggested Refy it's Korean and what a difference it looks amazing. She gave me a little pot to try. Definitely recommend
