Does foundation or base layer of tinted cream that you can't see exist for older skin?

I'm 48. I look older. I am fair and freckly with wrinkles and visible pores.

I wear either no makeup or just a bit of mascara.

I would quite like a layer on my face that sort of evens up the colour and helps me look less haggard. I won't be doing layers of product, or buffing with a pointy egg shaped sponge.

Does such a thing exist? I tried something but I could see it on my face like a paste. I know it's normal to be able to see foundation, especially on older skin, but I don't want that on my face.

Is foundation for putting under makeup?

Or can I just wear it without other makeup?

If you apply a medium to high coverage foundation without applying and kind of makeup afterwards you’re fairly likely to end up looking pale or washed out.

Which is why most people tend to apply products such as blush, bronzer, highlighter etc. If you find an actual skin tint or low coverage foundation product that works with your skin you probably won’t need to apply those products because your natural colours (rosiness, a little blotchiness etc.) will still shine through.

but as a pp said: it’s really about finding something that works for your skin! So I personally would take some of the recommendations on this thread and get yourself to the your nearest store with a beauty counter (and samples!).

Oh Christ it DOES settle into wrinkles! Avoid avoid for more mature skin.

I don’t have mature skin (yet) and I quite like it when I have an oily skin period. But whenever I deal with dryness or even just non-oily skin? Eh, it’s suddenly surprisingly iffy imo! So I was a bit surprised when I saw it being recommended for mature skin.

But there are various mature skin types (such as mature oily skin) so would might be a factor as well.🤷‍♀️
