Sloppy French oversized cardigan?

OneWorthyLemonCat · 26/02/2026 21:45

I'm going to be spending the summer in France.
I have a good capsule wardrobe, but want to add one item - a big, oversized, sloppy French style cardigan. Maybe in tan? I'll wear it over jeans, a cropped tshirt, and either Sambas or Espadrilles, with big sunglasses.
Has anyone seen anything that fits the bill?

Just wear shorts and flipflops from Decathlon, Bergerac and a t-shirt like the rest of us!

Kittylala · 26/02/2026 21:49

Trust me, you do not need an oversized cardie in June-august..

OneWorthyLemonCat · 26/02/2026 21:54

Sorry, its a nonsense to say I'll be there for the summer. More like April and May! The North, the Loire Valley, the area around Bordeaux and Brittany.
I usually wear jeans or jean shorts and a Uniqlo tshirt.

Just chill. Be relaxed. No one cares what you wear.

Vintage. By French cardigan do you mean the sort of heritage / classic with gold buttons sort of thing. Slightly long cut / oversized? Normally tan or navy blue.

If yes search on vinted or eBay for ‘vintage gold button cardigan’ . Other keywords you could use nautical vintage cardigan / granny chic button cardigan
have a nice hol! Xo

Ps) I don’t know why you’ve got some shitty replies. You’re entitled to ask about a cardigan 😂

@Kittylala im not sire why you’ve bothered to reply to the thread if you think it’s a waste of time etc… there are many threads asking for help finding various items.. easy to not respond to threads that aren’t of interest to you

From sezane. Don’t know if this is what you mean. Or if it’s too casual/ chunky. It’s certainly French

I didn't say it was a waste of time, you did.

This is S&B. The whole point is to get overly invested what cardigan a total stranger should wear on holiday in a couple of months.

Great minds eh?!

Nitgel · 26/02/2026 22:20

I have one of these too. They're big tho

Tortephant · 26/02/2026 22:56

Aligne, Sezanne or Kit and Kaboodle

Maybe I'm in the wrong spot on MN to be commenting, but I would always look on vinted first. So much more to browse, and a chance to get something actually vintage or just a little bit unusual, but there are plenty of classics on there too. And you can search for pure wool if that's important, too.

The OP cares what she wears. She isn’t asking what other people will think of her.

And how the hell are jeans, a t-shirt and an oversized cardigan not ‘relaxed’? It’s about the most chilled, relaxed, comfortable outfit possible.

BastardtheCat · 27/02/2026 06:03

Do you mean chunky or lightweight?
