WWW's 10 year younger thread: the devil's own drivel - all welcome

WideWebWitch · 15/06/2008 19:13

Hello everyone, anyone is welcome to join.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times - REALLY mean this now summer is here.
  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

However, some of us (me and Suzywong) are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are doing the having-four-children-and-livestock-to-manage. LoveandSqualor is trying to put on weight

Anyway, we do a lot of chatting about life and everything on this thread but amongst it all we often post how we're feeling and what we ate and it acts as a conscience. Some of the time

Happy shiny new week everyone.

arfishy - not one of the camper lot yet, it's been eleven years since the last time and never with a three year old so I'll let you know on Sunday! I've been spending the morning unpacking and repacking the car to try and avoid having to use the box thingy on top. It hasn't worked. How can we need so much stuff just for one weekend? We need a camper van. Now that would be fun.

eemie · 20/06/2008 16:50

Worked a half day today so was inspired to take puppy with me to drop off car seat and keys with child minder then go to park.

She piddled and pooped before we left, so I thought we'd be okay. Didn't change as we're going to a concert later (Stile Antico for those who are interested).

So - she was fine going to childminder's but piddled and pooped in crate on the three-minute trip from there to park. I managed to clean up while holding her lead, then took her for walk.

At home she had drink then went in her indoor crate. I got dh to pull car crate out for me to clean properly. Meanwhile puppy threw up lavishly all over herself, bowl and crate.

At this point I had the sense to change my clothes (and considered buying some boiler suits) before hosing down both crates, puppy, dishes etc. She dashed off and dug up some geraniums in the middle of this so we both got muddy too.

Can't believe how many memories of dd's infancy this all brings back. But I did get a walk out of it

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 20/06/2008 17:17

Well done all you losers! (including myself here for a change as I seem to have shed a couple of pounds myself)

dh on the other hand has shed forty - walked away from the cash machine without siad cash. Dur! Having just had to shell out for a new electric shower and the fitting it's not been the best of days.

Ticks for exercise, no booze and water. Poor show on the food fromt as I seem to have been grazing in front of the fridge for most of the day. I'm sure it's a greedy cow hormonal thing.

Hope dad is continuing with his good recovery Marina. Thinking about JJ too - hope Jr is painfree.

Toes sound very colourful Arfishy.

Ureb - did dh get the hatrick?

moonshine · 20/06/2008 17:31

Trousers of Truth are indeed fab but I cannot lay claim to their invention, although I do own several pairs.

And I have 2 dcs btw.

Arfishy - well done on 9lbs despite the jeans we shall not talk about. I am actually convinced, after a week of no exercise and 4.5lbs off, that exercise being good for weight control is a big fat lie! Today I did quite a bit, weighed myself out of curiosity and I am already heavier (and it ain't muscle).

Batters - how lovely to be complimented - enjoy being lulled.

Fanella - just the thought of camping sends shivers (and not of pleasure) down my spine. But I'm sure it will be a great trial experience and fun!

WWW - does that mean no drinking tonight - and how many bottles of that champagne have you got through?

I am looking forward to a glass tonight, especially as I intend to try and get out of going to the party tomorrow (not as exciting as it sounds: day time affair with none of my friends there and kids to watch while dh no doubt gets pissed and ignores us)

dh and I decided that we may as well make our iffy finances a tad worse. We went to our local 'country pub' lol (in Stoke!) for tea. We abandoned the kids to their own devices; I even had a glass of wine. On the up side we did walk there and back and there is all uphill and I mean 'in first gear' uphill so the wine doesn't count

unknownrebelbang · 20/06/2008 22:01

There's a country pub? in Stoke? rofl.

What do you think about DH? Course he did! As ever, he then made me feel guilty by working a 13 hour shift (instead of 9) dealing with all sorts of horrible stuff.

TGI Friday, even if tomorrow is going to be manic with the school fete in the morning, a sports thing in the evening, and lots inbetween, because work has been absolutely draining this week. Looking forward to a nice lazy day on Sunday though.

Happy weekend everyone.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 20/06/2008 22:32

Well - tis right on the very, very edge of Stoke. You could mistake it for Staffs Moorlands; fab view.

tortoiseSHELL · 20/06/2008 23:05

Goodish day today and yesterday. Yesterday, had some raw fruit and veg, but then chinese in the evening - however, didn't have egg fried rice, and just a small helping of beef with green pepper and black bean sauce. Also 1.5 glasses white wine. Walked to school and back, so 1.5 miles.

Today - had 1/2 satsuma and couple raw carrots, then roast chicken (no skin), sugar snap peas, roasted vegetables (mushroom, red pepper, carrot). Plenty of water. No wine. Took ds2 swimming this morning, then walked round Asda (got to count for something), then to school and back, so a bit of walking.

bamamama · 20/06/2008 23:44

morning all - huge tent veil to be drawn over the whole week. Booze every night and more cake than even Nigella could shake her hair at. Ah well. Now feel rather hungover and sugary. Will strive to do better over the weekend. Also strangely depressed. Think it's just the booze.

Enjoy your weekends everyone, I'm now off to catch up with the thread.

WideWebWitch · 21/06/2008 06:13

Hello all
We drank 1 bottle of Champagne and half a bottle of Chablis last night. Oh and some white that was left in the fridge from last Saturday. Came in from work and ds threw an ALMIGHTY tantrum, a whole hour screaming and threatening, all because he had to do an 11+ ten minute test and he didn't want to. I ended up on the bench outside drinking wine and crying by 7.30. He apologised etc but at the end of a long week it was just what I didn't need. Amazingly I kept my temper and was calm throughout but oh how wearing it was.
Then I woke up at 4.30am and have been looking at spreadsheets and messing about ever since. May go back to bed shortly for a couple of hours.
We are going to a friends tonight and I'm driving so no wine for me but it'll be nice.

arfishy · 21/06/2008 06:24

Good Morning WWW. How nice to see you here on Aussie time. Sorry about the masive meltdown, sounds a corker. DD also had one this morning about hairbrushing. I had to threaten to put the Wii in the cellar before she would stop screaming. Now she's vanished because I told her to do violin practise and the parrot is circling menacingly (he likes to eat expensive wooden objects].

Hope you get some more sleep. I'm off to prepare for a barbie [stereotypical Australian afternoon emoticon].

Bama - I think I need to send Evil Victoria (TM) your way. She'll sort you out with her 5.30 am sessions. If you've ever done a stairmaster at max speed with EV screaming that your heart rate isn't high enough (ie close to death) WITH A HANGOVER, you'll never, ever, EVER want to drink in the week again.

[goes off in search of meat products]

WideWebWitch · 21/06/2008 06:35

Hi Arfy, enjoy your barbie. we're going to one tonight although it's raining here. OMg at EV with a hangover, can't imagine anything worse, eww.

OP posts:
Prufrock · 21/06/2008 09:37

Arfy, after yesterday I am borrowing your trademark and re-christening my lovely trainer as EvilJanice. She made me do a bodypump class. I can hardly move this morning.

I also sinned with coffee in the afternoon,3 pieces (small) of chocolate cake, huge plate of spag bol and 1/2 bottle wine. It is amazing how quickly my body becomes disused to alcohol - after 1 glass I was feeling tipsy, after 2 I went to bed to watch TV, and I only managed to drink 1/3 of teh 3rd glass before I fell asleep!

V busy weekend - dd has gym display today,my mother is coming up, though I've cancelled dinner out as ds is a bit ill, and tomorrow I have to go to Nottm to say goodbye to my dsis who is off to SA again. And I'm writing copious lists so dh can cope without me on Tuesdaywhen i go to have my norks reduced and uplifted. Please DON"T ask if I'm getting nervous, because I'm not, but people asking makes me think I should!

arfishy · 21/06/2008 13:35

Oooh Tell me more about Evil Janice (TM). Does she make you wear a heart rate monitor? I had to point out to EV that I AM NEARLY 40 as she tried to make me work out for 60 minutes at a heart rate that was inappropriate to my age and inclination to exercise ability.

WideWebWitch · 21/06/2008 18:04

Will be thinking of you on Tuesday Prufrock, stay not nervous, you're going somewhere v good aren't you, it'll be fine!

had bacon and eggs for lunch
about to go out to Indian restaurant where will probably have tandoori mixed grill
and will drink wine

I have thought of some of the other things I want to do over the next 6 months/year so will post them here, feel free to add yours:

teeth bleached (have wanted this for YEARS)
am bookng a personal shopper, prob in John Lewis, once I am the size I want to be so maybe around October
Botox. I am seriously considering it, esp for my decolletage. I could cope with not on my face but am seriously peed off with wrinkles on my chest
And I may get my hair dyed back to its natural colour, which is fairly dark brown. Went to the hairdresser today and had my roots done and it looks fine and everything but I think maybe my blonde is a bit woman of a certain age ish. Where I live is swarming with v well groomed ladies who lunch and 2 of them were in the hairdresser having their blonde re blonded. There the similarity ends, obv.

We got it wrong with friends and were on way there when friend claled to say no, it's a few weeks time so we turned around and came bakc again and are about to go out to dinner (with children) instead.

where di you get teeth done www? (did phoen in on cosmetic dentistry on thurs)

good luck to you & your norks pru, xx

yoyo · 21/06/2008 21:50

DD is home and had a fab time. So relieved. It is lovely to be together again. DH is away tomorrow and I intend to snuggle on sofa with DC eating ice cream and watching some corny film.

WWW - I have a list of stuff to do but will post it another time. Enjoy the meal out. DH needs company or it'll be another cheese'n'onion, wine, papers evening.

unknownrebelbang · 21/06/2008 23:34

Have lost 2 lb!

That was before I ate, drank and became merry, lol (summer fete and sports presentation...fatal combination!).

eemie · 22/06/2008 08:38

Morning all.

Had another 5.30 start with puppy and it's a sunny morning here.

Worked socks off getting house ready for a viewing yesterday and we have another one this morning...fingers crossed...in the tidying frenzy I found my step counter but don't think it can be working right (hah!). Can it really be only 178 steps to go all round the park?

Discovered that Clarins day lotion (multi-activ) is spf 15 so trying that.

WideWebWitch · 22/06/2008 08:39

Yoyo, glad she had a lovely time!

Well done on 2lbs unknown

Bundle, no idea where to go tbh. Ideally I'd like veneers but at £1k ish a tooth it's not going to happen, there are a LOT of things in the queue for £ before that. I will probably end up at local dentist. What was the verdict on your phone in? Anything I should be careful about?

Another thing to add to my list: getting a proper bra fitting. I must do this esp as dh says they've got smaller (I hadn't noticed) so I must take a trip to M&S sometime and get properly fitted.

Had chingri sagwalla (prawns and spinach) and mushroom bhajee and Chablis. Started to drink the complimentary Baileys without thinking and suddenly realised I 100% absolutely am not allowed it so gave it to dh. Weighed myself and I haven't lost anything but neither have I put anything on so I can live with that.

I want to get to my next goal by the 2nd Aug which is my next hairdressers appt - at the last one (6 weeks ago) I swore by the next one I'd have lost a decent amount and I had achieved it by the time I went yesterday. I go every six weeks so it's realistic.

Hope everyone's had a good weekend so far, will start a new thread later. Dh has just brought me bacon and eggs in bed, wearing my Cath Kidston apron and just pyjama bottoms, hmm, not sure it's a good look.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 22/06/2008 09:05

lol www - have a look at my profile - you should get him the apron my dad is wearing

WideWebWitch · 22/06/2008 09:20

lol at your dad in that apron. It's dh's birthday in July and I've orderd him a butchers apron amongst other things.

tortoiseSHELL · 22/06/2008 09:29

Hi all - hope you've all had a good week. yoyo, glad you're dd is home and had a good time.
Evil Janice sounds as menacing as Evil Victoria!
Yesterday wasn't great bootcampwise, but have extenuating circumstances - namely ds1's birthday party - 20 7 year olds requires alcohol afterwards! The party was really good - they all came as pirates, and we had hired a POTC bouncy castle (in the church hall), did a few games, then hot dogs and cakes. But I was EXHAUSTED by the end! And did sample the hot dogs and the cakes I'm afraid. Oh well.

LoveAndSqualor · 22/06/2008 11:14

hey all, sorry for absence - crazy coule of non-sleeping days at home and now down at a friend's in somerset - just sneaking on her computer. will catch up properly when back in london, but just wanted to wave from the west country. good luck on tues, prufrock!
