Do you wear leggings ?

I have worn them in the past with a longline jumper. When I say leggings, I mean the cotton type. Not something like Sweaty Betty lycra type leggings which in my mind are quite sculptured and shapely.

No.

They are children’s clothes to me.

Brelim · 30/10/2025 12:01

I used to wear the cotton ones for yoga, but now prefer a looser style. I have woollen ones that I wear to bed too when it’s really cold.

GardenersDelight · 30/10/2025 12:03

While I know its frowned on by mumsnet. I wear cotton leggings instead of tights as find they fit and stay up better plus no ladders
Wear sport leggings for sport!

clarepetal · 30/10/2025 12:04

I do, I love them and I'm not ashamed.

AxolotlEars · 30/10/2025 12:04

I wear leggings like others would wear tights

Whattodo121 · 30/10/2025 12:05

They are my go to for housework and pottering around doing errands with trainers and a hoodie. Don’t tend to wear them out anywhere else really.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 30/10/2025 12:07

I'm in my sixties and wear them a lot! They much more practical for many activities - I have riding leggings which don't bunch up, I run in leggings when it's chilly (shorts the rest of the time), I garden in leggings because they stretch, and go walking in them for the same reason.

I do usually put on a coat or cover my bum if I wear them shopping though.

MadisonMontgomery · 30/10/2025 12:08

Yes, nice Lycra ones for round the house, dog walking etc, maybe to run errands in occasionally. I love how comfy and practical they are.

TheFlis · 30/10/2025 12:09

Not for anything but exercise or thermal versions under other clothes in winter. They are flattering on very few people.

HansHolbein · 30/10/2025 12:09

For housework, yes. Not out of the house.

TheCurious0range · 30/10/2025 12:10

For around the house or WFH I do. I have some brushed cotton lined ones and they're toasty

DramaAlpaca · 30/10/2025 12:10

No, never. I used to when younger, but not now.

OhDear111 · 30/10/2025 12:11

Sports type ones are everywhere but you need a good body (Betsy on Coronation street!) Seasalt ones with tunics - no. Really look dated.

girlwhowearsglasses · 30/10/2025 12:14

yep.
I'm not ashamed!

Some of mine are iridescent.
In my defence my legs are great, the rest not so much, I'm 51, and so if I want to wear a short dress or mini skirt I wear it with leggings....

Belladog1 · 30/10/2025 12:16

All the time! I own about 10 pairs from Peacocks, all in black.

I wear them with long tops or knee length jumpers. I love them.

Notgoingtooutmyselftoday · 30/10/2025 12:17

I will occasionally wear leggings on a relaxed day but always wear with a long baggy jumper that comes half way down my thighs so that all the clingy bits are covered.

Aside from that they are my go to for Pilates and for hiking

RaininSummer · 30/10/2025 12:18

Yes. Instead of tights under dresses for work as warmer and longer lasting. With tunic tops and boots too. I don't care if they are a fashion faux pas.

aSpanielintheworks · 30/10/2025 12:20

I wear leggings with dresses over as a wardrobe staple.
Occasionally I wear jeans but spend 99% of my time in leggings. When it’s cold I put tights under them.

FIaps · 30/10/2025 12:20

I have heattech leggings from uniqlo which I wear under other clothes for warmth.

89redballoons · 30/10/2025 12:27

Yep. I'm sure not stylish but I don't care. I'm an apple shape with great legs, and wearing leggings with something like a tunic shape top or oversized jumper (something that covers my bum, basically) makes me feel comfortable and confident.

I wouldn't dress like that for work, or for a nice evening out etc, but everything else is fair game.

I'm currently heavily pregnant and living in maternity leggings with my normal tops and dresses. Very comfy. I actually like being pregnant from a fashion perspective at least, as I get a figure that's just an exaggeration of my natural one, and I don't feel bad about leaning into it.

helpfulperson · 30/10/2025 12:28

Yup. Love them. No they don't look stylish on my size 18 body but they are so comfy.

Berlinlover · 30/10/2025 12:28

No, they look lazy and unflattering.

Legomania · 30/10/2025 12:29

I only have sports leggings but I do wear them for housework and gardening as well as exercise. I think the other kind would go baggy/see-through too quickly

The school run has taught me that they're not a great look outside of these areas.

RaraRachael · 30/10/2025 12:29

Yes I've worn them for years mostly in the winter tucked into boots. They're comfy and I couldn't care less about fashion.

MinnieMountain · 30/10/2025 12:30

Not by themselves unless I’m hiking or only going between home and the gym.
