Do you wear leggings ?

I have worn them in the past with a longline jumper. When I say leggings, I mean the cotton type. Not something like Sweaty Betty lycra type leggings which in my mind are quite sculptured and shapely.

I wear leggings like others would wear tights

Same here. Used to wear any tights, then Wolford, but now hate the feeling over my toes. Couldn’t wear nylon tights anymore.

Summershutdown · 30/10/2025 13:14

yep - love leggings.

Adanola or gymshark are my personal faves, non see-through and good quality.

I did notice on Amazon the other day when I was buying some tights, that they now do footless tights. Just thought I would mention it.

Yes, I bought a few pairs when pregnant with DS and now there only thing I find comfortable and practical. I have a 2.5yr old and a 2 month old, fashion is not at the forefront of my mind at the moment!

Purplecatshopaholic · 30/10/2025 13:19

No. They are for the gym only (proper gym leggings from Sweaty Betty and Lululemon, not saggy cotton ones). Leggings and a longline jumper looks terrible - lazy, unflattering, just no (for me - I obvs don’t care if someone else likes this look).

As long as I've got a long top to cover my bum I'll carry on wearing my leggings.

At my age I don't give a stuff about trends

Same. Do people in their mid 40’s follow trends to the point they refuse to wear something because it’s not “in fashion”? I wear what suits my body shape and I feel comfortable in.

I also wear skinny jeans and the ‘current trend’ on wide legged jeans suits few people and especially not someone my shape

Lampzade · 30/10/2025 13:20

Yes, I wear them at the gym with a longline top or when I am shopping locally

Pistachiocake · 30/10/2025 13:24

You're right to say there's different types-some I only ever wore with a dress, but there's a difference with the ones that aren't see-through.
Yes, I think pretty much everyone wear them now, but genrally people seem to buy "better" thicker ones. It used to be only a few people unless they were at the gym, but virtually every woman I know wears them now (some of my friends and family wear them underneath, for personal choice reasons, so you wouldn't know they're wearing them, but my point is pretty much everyone I know is using them, even if not obviously so).

RaraRachael · 30/10/2025 13:25

@ChessBess my skinny jeans will be making a reappearance soon when I dig out my boots.

I thought the summer trend of wide/barrel/carrot leg trousers looked ridiculous on many people.

I buy what I like and am comfortable with.

Never definitely no no to leggings. The worse ‘fashion’ item ever. They show every lump and bump and are so unattractive. A slovenly way to get dressed.

I don't understand why it's slovenly? I mean, it takes just about the same amount of time to put leggings on as it does any other trousers.

TheAmusedQuail · 30/10/2025 13:28

I do. I know they're not popular / on trend. But they're so damn comfy. I only wear the cotton ones, even for exercising. The others are just too synthetic for me.

I wish I had the will power to avoid them. But I love the comfort!

londongirl12 · 30/10/2025 13:28

Yes I do, and I feel like people shouldn’t be so judgy! How lovely we live in a world where we don’t all wear the same thing 😂

Edited

I don’t follow fashion. But I do like to follow the latest styles. Obviously, I pick and choose what suits me, my body shape, and my age. I’m 58.

I also try and wear clothes that are appropriate for what I’m doing / where I’m going. So I wear leggings to the gym, but not for the office or a night out.

EnchantingDecoration · 30/10/2025 13:33

Yes, gym ones for exercising and black cotton ones under dresses and skirts as a tights alternative, with black ankle boots. At home with just a long teeshirt or sweatshirt for housework, gardening etc too, comfiest thing ever. I think the quality has improved massively over the years you used to regularly see people with them too thin, showing their underwear etc but I haven't noticed that on anyone for years now.

Spiderplantseverywhere · 30/10/2025 13:34

I wear them everyday with a longline hoodie and trainers. My DD17 says they look great, she and most of her friends wear leggings (Nike not cotton ones).

I do have IBS, endometriosis and in peri though so couldn't give a crap if they look slovenly or not because comfort is all I'm after at this precise moment in my life.

BeardofHagrid · 30/10/2025 13:36

I’ve got horrible legs, otherwise I’d love to :(

CocoRats · 30/10/2025 13:36

I wear leggings to the gym and for hiking. I wouldn’t wear them otherwise and they have to be good quality.

jill5676 · 30/10/2025 13:36

Currently living in leggings with a newborn and a toddler - sports style maternity leggings to be precise. Over the next few months I'm sure I'll gradually transition back into other trousers but leggings will always have a place in my wardrobe! I like the thermal fleece ones in winter with boots and an oversized sweatshirt. My priority is comfort and practicality in this phase of life.

GarlicHound · 30/10/2025 13:36

Yes, all the time. I don't kid myself they're a fashion choice, though - they're just incredibly convenient! I do sometimes wear them under dresses, like very thick tights.

Namechangeforthis88 · 30/10/2025 13:37

girlwhowearsglasses · 30/10/2025 12:14

yep.
I'm not ashamed!

Some of mine are iridescent.
In my defence my legs are great, the rest not so much, I'm 51, and so if I want to wear a short dress or mini skirt I wear it with leggings....

Where are you getting your iridescent leggings from?

ninjahamster · 30/10/2025 13:37

It’s about all I wear. I’m really overweight so that’s what fits. That and kind of flowery lightweight trousers.
I’m autistic so I can’t wear anything either tight waistbands for sensory reasons, so no cargos, jeans.

Radiatorvalves · 30/10/2025 13:43

Wearing sweaty Betty leggings now. They look fine but not smart. Great for cycling locally, walking, gym and faffing in house. I’m 55 and a size 10/12. Currently also wearing an old t-shirt and a decathlon sweatshirt.

MondeoFan · 30/10/2025 13:46

They are great with dr martens and a band tee or trainers and sweatshirt
