Holy grail of lip balms

happygertie · 21/10/2025 21:45

This time of year my lips get so dry which I absolutely hate! I can’t bear dry lips, I have over a dozen lip balms in the go and use laneige lip mask before bed every night but nothing is working right now. I am definitely hydrated so it isn’t that.

I don’t care about the cost, can anyone recommend the world’s most hydrating lip balm?

I've used most of the products recommended here (but not the Nuxe because it was just too expensive) as I have very dry cracked lips and also react to a lot of lip products. The one had been the game-changer for me is CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment. It costs around £12 for a big 50ml tube.

Elizabeth Arden intensive lip balm. Every time I try something different I always comeback to this. Boots also currently have 20% off

Dr Sams. Great dermatologist on harley street that has her own line. I have used her for years and she transformed any major skin concern I have had. Her lipbalm is around 13 pounds I believe, lasts a long time. Have used every other one under the sun from super expensive to cheap but this one is the best one. https://drsambunting.com/products/flawless-lip

Have just purchased. Hoping this answers my chappy lipped prayers.

LANIEGE Lip Mask or Nuxe lip balm

Purplepepsi · 24/10/2025 19:00

The best thing I've found is also lansinoh nipple balm! Cheap for a massive tube too. I use Dr paw paw in the day, or lanolips. I find if I use most lipstick it dries my lips out.

diamondsandrose · 24/10/2025 19:08

My lips get very sore and feel “burnt” when they are very dry/irritated. It is hard to describe but they go red and almost like a sunburned feeling. It’s very difficult to find something to soothe them. Does anyone else have this issue ? It’s hard to explain. Lip balms tend to feel like they sit on the surface rather than penetrating or stopping the uncomfortable feeling

Livpool · 24/10/2025 19:12

The W7 mask lip mask is lovely

Moirasgirls · 24/10/2025 19:20

Another vote for Nuxe Reve de Miel. Yes, it's expensive but it's been the only thing that actually works for me. It also lasts ages and feels like a lovely luxury when I put it on each morning.

Titasaducksarse · 24/10/2025 20:44

I got addicted to Burts Bees coconut and pear after using it on a long haul flight. Literally just packed it as flying tomorrow. It's amazing.

JeansJeanies · 24/10/2025 21:47

Burts Bees hand salve....I've been using on my lips and it's better than any other dedicated lip balm I've used.
Actually didn't realise it was for hands, never looked at tin properly until today 😳 - a happy accident :-)

Lansinoh nipple cream on lips at bed time. That’s it. Nothing else is needed.

This is the answer, OP. Lanolin, basically. I also use the Laniege sleep mask during the day as it's lovely and glossy and plumping.

Bepo77 · 24/10/2025 22:21

I actually find the fancier/richer ones I buy, the faster my lips dry out. Just can't beat vaseline.

Francestein · 25/10/2025 00:13

i can’t go past Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. I use it at night and once or twice during the day. Lasts all day, and my lips are plump and moisturised. I have a couple next to my bed, one in my handbag, one in the car and one in my work bag. Addicted much? This is absolutely the right time to grab a holiday set no matter what you choose.

ThatMiddleClassFood · 25/10/2025 00:30

Lanolin is the only thing that helps mine and my kids super dry lips. I have a lanolips for in my bag and lasinoh nipple balm for in the house.

Didn't know this, but generally it's better to avoid SLS toothpastes as it can cause ulcers and also that (sorry gross warning) thick slippery coating of dead skin on your inner cheeks.

OMG this happens to me! Some toothpastes have my inner cheeks shedding and I never connected that my lips also dry out when this happens ! Thanks for this tip. It tends to be the whitening ones that do this to me.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 21/10/2025 22:11

I use Laneige sleeping mask overnight and find I usually don't need anything else in the day unless it's dry and windy, in which case I use Nuxe reve de miel (glass jar, I haven't tried the stick version).

My favourite flavour Laneige is vanilla, but the matcha is pretty good too. My first choice would be unflavoured, but they don't seem to do that.

Have you tried the new pumpkin pie flavor? It's divine!

ElizabethVonArnim · 25/10/2025 22:10

Best I’ve found is Elizabeth Arden 8 hour in a little pot. Bought this in March this year and it has been great, but hasn’t been put to full winter test yet.

tumdedum · 27/10/2025 08:24

Another vote for blistex in the tube here. If my lips get sore because I've had a cold or something it makes them better in no time.
I also love the 'Bee Kissed' lip balms here: www.numbereighteensuffolk.com/product-category/natural-skincare/
I've got the peppermint one, it's just gorgeous!

sanitygirl · 27/10/2025 21:00

Dr Paw Paw overnight lip mask (the dark blue tube). You can get it in tk maxx or from Amazon. I’ve made many many repeat purchases - nothing beats it

Livpool · 27/10/2025 21:04

I love the Laneige but also the W7 - best ones

Slacktacular · 27/10/2025 21:20

O’Keefe’s in the orange tube. I’m never using anything else now. I used to preach Lansinoh but this is better - not as sticky but stays basically all day, doesn’t make my lips drier if I don’t keep using it. Knocks the spots off Burts Bees for me too - I’ve never understood the fuss about that stuff

Lisajane47 · 27/10/2025 21:45

My lips use to split they got so dry if it was cold, I've had everything, cheap and expensive. The best thing for me, is Tallow lip balm and tallow whipped cream and raw honey. I use the balm during the day cream at night, on.my face as well. Love it
