Holy grail of lip balms

happygertie · 21/10/2025 21:45

This time of year my lips get so dry which I absolutely hate! I can’t bear dry lips, I have over a dozen lip balms in the go and use laneige lip mask before bed every night but nothing is working right now. I am definitely hydrated so it isn’t that.

I don’t care about the cost, can anyone recommend the world’s most hydrating lip balm?

Burts Bees original (peppermint) flavour every day. The other flavours aren't so nourishing to my lips.
But if my lips have really gone beyond, with cracks and chaps, then I reach for the Blistex original (in the little tube with a red lid)

Pure shea butter in a pot, slather on lips. lasts all day, or night

VikingLady · 21/10/2025 22:20

Honestly, after trying everything I could find, I buy the tiny purple tubes of lansinoh nipple cream and use that. It’s perfect.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 21/10/2025 22:20

Also agree with carmex

Chocolateteabag · 21/10/2025 22:20

Primark aversion of LaNeige is pretty good as an all the time balm

Elisabeth Arden Eight Hour lip balm stick (£9 ish on eBay or Amazon) is great

Hydromol ointment is cheap as chips for slapping on all dry bits and works very much like Vaseline but slightly less greasy

Thanks so much all. I love eight hour cream for other things but can’t abide the taste so don’t use it on my lips. I’m pretty much going try all suggested that haven’t already

they have newer ones out in a lipstick version like with a tint of colour dint taste same and also a bit of colour. I also rate clarins lip balm

Malin & Goetz lip moisturiser is really good

Dr Lipp. I used the pink one at might and on my hands and the black one at work. I've had eczema and dry skin for 30 years and these are the dog's bollocks.

Definitely Dr Lipp

If you like the 8hr cream, really do try Dr Lipp. It's similar but much, much better and has no taste

Chocolatecustardcreamsrule · 21/10/2025 22:27

Clinique moisture surge lip balm. The one in a pink tube is my favourite. It’s always in the free gift bag when you spend over a certain amount around Christmas.

CharlieKirkRIP · 21/10/2025 22:29

By Terry baume de rose. The only comparable lip balm to the sadly discontinued Dior crème de rose which was the best lip balm ever.

mcmooberry · 21/10/2025 22:31

I have tried loads and love the Smooth Ahead lip balm from Beauty pie.

Blossom321 · 21/10/2025 22:32

Aloe Dent - Aloe Vera lip balm
i swear I have tried them all and I buy this year after year and it is truly the greatest lip balm ever made and the only one that actually keeps my lips soft and moisturised all day and doesn’t actually make them worse (like so many others do!!) I can’t believe no one else has suggested it.
you won’t be disappointed! And only £5

GoodVibesOnly21 · 21/10/2025 22:32

So I find if I used the same one for too long it stops working. If my lips are bad then I tend to swap between all three blistex (white tube white lid, wire tube red lid, blue pot), okeefes nighttime lip repair pot and whatever else I can get my hands on! If I use the same one it stops working. Carmex used to work for me but doesn’t anymore. So my advice is change what you’re using every day or two.

thisisalot · 21/10/2025 22:34

Caudalie lip conditioner

newrubylane · 21/10/2025 22:35

Blistex intensive moisturizer, plain white tube. It's more a cream than a balm, and the only thing that seems to work for me.

Homegrownberries · 21/10/2025 22:38

The 8 hour cream that's specifically for lips is brilliant and doens't have a taste.

@happygertie there’s a Burt’s bees overnight mask for about £8 which is brilliant … £7.50 on Prime

Byoma lip oil is amazing and only thing that keeps my lips hydrated for hours!

wanttokickoffbutcant · 21/10/2025 22:57

HermioneWeasley · 21/10/2025 21:50

8 hour cream

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour is the only thing that works for me as my lips gets so dry. Don't get me started on my eyes and cold weather......

princessbear80 · 21/10/2025 23:02

The best one I’ve found is O’Keefe’s lip balm in the orange tube. Not the overnight one in the tub. But the regular shaped lip balm.

KTheGrey · 21/10/2025 23:05

Eucerin for first layer and seal with Carmex. But now v excited about all the recommendations on here and will have to experiment with all of them.

NecklessMumster · 21/10/2025 23:05

Blisteze relief cream.

impostacosta · 21/10/2025 23:09

The only one that ever sorted my sons chapped lips-the type kids get when they keep licking around their mouth and it chaps right to their little noses- was the Clinique moisture surge one in the pink tube. Brilliant stuff!
