Forgot we were getting to the end of thread 4 - anyway here is thread 5. Well into autumn with christmas on the way and a few fragrance advent calendars already released, what will the next few months bring?

I have Ganymede on today, from the Harrods fraggy cal. It's saffron heavy which is one of my favourite spice notes, with a fruity finish. Love it, the only thing I don't love is the 10ml dab on bottle with the massive opening, so you have to be really careful not to pour the whole thing out.

Hello 👋
Sotd 4160tuesdays Amberama (sadly, now discontinued)
Gorgeous amber raspberry

MiaN · 08/10/2025 17:48

I have forgotten how much I enjoy Ellis Brooklyn Myth. It's so gorgeous - I wish it lasts longer

IDontHateRainbows · 08/10/2025 19:08

Playing with perfumes tonight, have made a gorgeous rose cherry combo using Miller Harris Sherzo and phlur cherry stem.

My DS's friend is looking for a good dupe of Creed's Original Vetiver: does anyone here have any suggestions? Perfume Parlour don't do one, and the rest of the suppliers seem to be outside the UK.

JoRaRaRa · 08/10/2025 22:03

SOTD today is Guerlain Ambre Samar, it's spicy and rich, feels warm for autumn, it has plum notes woven into the amber, giving a fruity sweetness and keeps the amber and wood from feeling too heavy. It is glorious and so perfect for this time of year 😍

OvaHere · 08/10/2025 23:16

Missed that there was a new thread. SOTD was Kayali Boujee Marshmallow, spritzed in a rush so no particular thought went into it - it was just close to hand.

Sephora have released a fragrance set £79

Not one I'm interested in but i do have the Merit Retrospect and it's a lovely scent. I think it's quite unusual and I don't really have anything else that's similar.

I don't need any more temptation so I'll pass on that.

There will be many SOTD for me today as im wfh but right now its Herrera Very Good Girl. Lovely fruity slightly zingy cherry, this is my zingy level as im not usually into zesty or citrussy ones, this is quite subtle but has the yum smell your hand again factor

Miller Harris Secret Gardenia today. My go to perfume for sunny, warm autumn and spring days.

@IDontHateRainbows What’s Phlur Cherry Stem like? I’m tempted to blind buy it (but really shouldn’t).

I'm interested in Cherry Stem. I do like Phlur as one of the more reasonably priced brands. I was disappointed it wasn't in SNK fragrance, I really thought it would be. It was in the BAC though.

IDontHateRainbows · 09/10/2025 15:41

Cherry stem is lovely, its quite boozy and a bit of citrus so not a standard Cherry. Quite sweet but not sickly. You can buy 8ml size so not a massive commitment.

I didn't' like Cherry Stem, and I usually like cherry

MiaN · 09/10/2025 19:31

I am really baffled by how much I enjoy La Bomba (at home) as it is so not my type. However although it is super sweet to my nose it's fruity/juicy sweet with hint of almond. It's not something I will spend much money on but if at some point I see amazing deal I would buy a bottle. The bottle is also so pretty - it's just a happy scent to my nose.

I went to sniff this in the perfume shop earlier this week after seeing you talk about it. The woman in the shop told me it's very musky, not sweet like the others. Not to my nose, it's very sweet and purely smelt of almonds/marzipan. This is on a tester card, I've not tried it on the skin. I don't think I would buy it but wouldn't mind if I got a 2ml sample to try out properly.

MiaN · 09/10/2025 19:44

That's what I told my husband, to my nose it's juicy fruit and almond/marzipan. He said to him is hint of coconut and sweet fruit. It's not something I would wear in work or out and about but I find it lifts my mood on a dull winter day when I am working from home. Maybe I will wait to finish my travel. I didn't like it initially at all, but I do right now. I will make sure I am done with what I have in case I change my mind again.

MrsSchadenfreude · 09/10/2025 19:49

@IDontHateRainbowsI love Ganymede. I got a sample from Les Senteurs. SOTD was L’eau du Sud because I am off to Provence this weekend and am clinging to the idea that it is still summer!

@potato08I have a bottle of Amberama that I probably won’t use if you want it.

Maybe I just need to give it more time. I like all the 'good girls' but for some reason it didn't gel with me. Then again I like Cherry Stem and you didn't.

I think I appreciate that it also does not remind me of any other perfumes. There are so many new perfumes that just a tiny little different to another 10 or 50 perfumes already out there. Ihe initial spray is very intensely sweet and fruity, and if you tell me you find it too sweet I would believe you, it is sweet. Give it another try and see if you like it more in 30 minutes on the drydown - or maybe it's one we don't have the same opinion on. I usually like smoother, more polite scents

Splcam · 09/10/2025 20:46

Hey a perfume thread - fabulous! Not sure how i missed 4 previous iterations of it 🙂.

I love the scent (and flavour) of cherries but sadly they turn very medicinal and detol-y on my skin. So I tend to swerve them.

Today I've been wearing Le Labo The Noir: figs, woods and tea leaves felt very autumnal. Other early(ish) autumn picks this week have been Twilly, Angelique Sous La Pluie, and 4160's Brackenbury.

daddysgirlnot · 09/10/2025 20:48

I got an email from Antonia’s Flowers recently informing me they’re producing Tiempe Passate again, although the formula has changed slightly. It’s only on sale in USA at the moment, don’t think they ship. But I’m excited… have missed that scent. Can anyone suggest an alternative to Balenciaga Florabotanica?

IDontHateRainbows · 10/10/2025 07:57

Miller Harris Scherzo today. Getting into this, which is unusual as im not usually a rose fan. It has a touch of oud in it which combines well with rose.

Also: crivelli safran secret. I love saffron and thos one doesn't disappoint. Smells of steam somehow,a saffron scented steam!

Hoping HN fraggy cal lands today, ordered on next day delivery yesterday.

Dang and blast - due to a problem with the DPD network both my HN calendar and fenwick are stuck in transit!!! What's a girl to do!

Working from home again (been unwell this week) so I may have to work through my little collection of minis most of which were from the perfume shop advent calendar, although I have listed quite a few for sale and they aren't shifting.

I do have La Bomba which was in there and isn't shifting, probably because I've priced it a bit high, but I am tempted to try it again following @MiaN 's recommendation - maybe it's a grower.

I'm sworn off getting any more advent calendars right now but closer to christmas I can see myself being tempted by the Herrera one. actually there are two, one at £145 and one at £295, bit pricey to be fair but I seem to have developed a bit of an obsession with this brand.

HN Frag calendar arrived - very pleased with it although haven't opened anything up yet. Intrigued to try the holy ficus auto fragrance.

Scents of the day have been - brompton immortals by ex nihilo. Becoming a fan of this house. This was in the Harrods AC as a fb. I'm also a fan of the fleur narcotique and spiky muse that were in other calendars. They seem to be in everything this year - a bit like Byredo were last year.

Also special mention to Mumbai Noise and Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan. And I finished off the last spritz of vanilla planifolia by chloe. Quite a scenty day.

I’m holding fast onto no HN calendar but I do keep going back as I loved it last year…

SOTD Wild Rosinda from a liberty sample. It’s a grower and smells different today than 3 months ago.

I’ve no suggestions for the gucci or vetivier alternatives- but I did smell the Malin + goetz vetiver perfume and it’s lovely. Quite balanced. I’m not a fan of the brand but that and a face cream was very nice.

For those Grid Charnel fans- have you tried the hair perfume? I have a HN voucher ( small one) and wondering if it’s worth a punt as I can’t justify the main perfume ATM
