The regulars on the thread mainly discuss luxury BAC and this dies down by September when everyone has purchased and forgotten the contents. Then it goes into discussion on what’s selling out, what hasn’t and what deals and discounts to be had on ACs in the lead up to December. Then in December we move onto AC opening threads!

Thank you for the new thread! Glossybox sent me the July box for free with August which arrived yesterday and I am happy to have subscribed now, got a few useful and fun bits and as DD is becoming a Tween if I don't want something she probably will. Have also cleared up my dressing table and ordered some used up bits. This time of year advents do help me think about what is missing and what I would like and help give me a beauty boost. Haven't been ordering that much in terms of edits etc for a while as have had a big renovation project which is ending now in terms of decorating at just short of 3 quite intense years. Have not had much room or spare cash but it is nice to get to better than the old normal. All done for big building etc domestic projects for the rest of my life, no kidding. Now to tackle the minis in the bathroom before advent season starts, for that reason I can't see GB continuing. Hoping for H&B this week and then will be done I think but loving the thread and want to be in the Real Houswives of Beauty Advent. December is a massively busy month for me and an advent really helps me keep my humour

I’m still waiting and considering the Fenwick one IF (and only if) there’s a good GWP it stacks with. Potentially also very interested to see both what Jarrolds and French Pharmacy will offer.

If the Fenwick one doesn’t go as per my plan then I think I’ll wait and see what edits come about before Christmas and perhaps do a few of them.

Anyway it's Cult Beauty release day and incredibly I have decided not to buy it.

I've decided to make my own this year by filing up last years liberty box as none of the reveals have really grabbed me so far. So far it's good fun coming up with the list of contents, I've picked a few bits up on Vinted already.

I’ve gone for the Cult Beauty one today. This year, for the first time, I checked all the contents of every calendar, whereas in the past, I’ve kept is as a surprise. Unfortunately I’ve had so many products in past calendars that I just wouldn’t use, or simply don’t like. The Cult Beauty one, seems to be the only one that has products in it that I use now and I know I would buy again and products that interest me and I’m excited to try. Hopefully it will be here before the weekend.

I agree @BakeOffRewatch - I only buy make up or skincare off eBay if something is sealed or - like the HG palette from last year -obviously unused. (It’s very obvious with powder if it’s been touched).

Professional business sellers, ime, are far less likely to have touched stuff - but you do have to watch out for fakes.

I'm glad you'll enjoy it. I do think it's a good calendar overall if it has plenty of things you will use and enjoy. With the gift card plus £10 in points credit it's not badly priced compared to some.

I've made peace with not buying it after being paralysed with indecision for about a week. 😂

I pick up quite a few bits from the advent calendars on vinted, the key for me is seeing the calendar (or a glimpse of it) in the photos so I know that's where it's coming from. I also tend to look at when stuff was listed and match it against the door number if it's in December.

Thankyou, yes, hopefully I’ve made the right choice. I think I’m at the stage now ( I’m getting old!) where I know what I like and while all these calendars are great and have many lovely things in them, if half of them end up not being used or given away, which I’m very guilty of, it’s just not worth it. I hope you find the right one for you in the end.

I’m hoping to buy the LeLabo Eucalyptus perfume from the main HN calendar from Vinted. It’s one of the nicest fragrances I’ve ever tried. I’m also going to look out for the new Granado fragrance from HN. I’ll be waiting with my finger poised to buy the HN fragrance calendar when it goes on sale 😆

I also check sellers other listings, if you see a number of items from the same calendar it's a reasonably safe assumption that's where it came from.

I don’t think I’ve seen the Naturisimo calendar mentioned yet this year. Last year’s looked really interesting. I think they’ve changed their name to Ohmycream, but there’s nothing on their website yet.

As per my post on the last thread about the Lancome AC. They have released a holiday beauty box. Not a GWP but it costs £90 when you spend £50 - like the Estee Lauder one. Assuming this stacks with the AC if that was your purchase.

Hi all! Just coming over from the last thread and the discussion about whether demand is lower this year. I do think we're unusual on these threads in being so interested in calendars so early. August only just ended. Lots of people won't think about buying an advent calendar until the autumn, even those willing to spend on beauty calendars. And there are all the partners who will get them as presents who won't think about it yet! The big sell outs in the past happened when things were released much later - eg the early Cult Beauties were October.

To add. The palette in the box looks like the popular Idole Cafe Crush release from earlier in the year. That's supposed to be a very nice palette. It's £64 bought separately.

Not to put a downer on the thread, but none of the calendars this year really appeal to me, so I’m going to wait to see if they are reduced.

if not, I will make my own, from a previous LF calendar box that I kept

Still deliberating - tempted by Harrods and SNK but may just get the f&m tea and biscuits to share with dd and CB edits…

To add this palette is gorgeous, I have it and it is my all time favourite and use it most days.

I bought the Harrods calendar on 9th Sept last year and my mum bought it a few weeks after me so I think it could be too early to tell if demand is less. I do think all the main multi brand ones will sell out, I know more people who are buying beauty advent calendars now. I am secretly hoping that they don't though and they all get reduced 😈

Gosh what an unfortunate name they've chosen. Not a fan of that at all. Interested in the contents of the calendar though. There's also Niche Beauty, that was quite pricey last year though.

It’s a game of chance though - you’ll only really know if demand is down if there is still advent calendar stock left by the cyber Nov offers.

i can’t see it, although they were better value in the early days, the companies doing this have mostly gotten very good at what sells for advents.

I'll likely sell the mac lipstick from mine. I usually swap the items around in my calendar if i don't like the item in day 25 or I want something earlier in the month 🤣 like last year I wanted the setting powder on the 1st Dec 🙈

Last year there was a lot of talk of the CoL affecting sales, driving discounts etc. And none of it happened - everything sold out eventually without anything really dropping in price.
