Annual Style and Beauty Advent Calendar discussion thread. First AC reveal this year was 23rd June. First luxury reveal was 2nd July.

Thread 1: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5360770-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion

Thread 2: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5388836-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion-spoilers-thread-2

Thread 3: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5396898-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion-spoilers-thread-3

The regulars on the thread mainly discuss luxury BAC and this dies down by September when everyone has purchased and forgotten the contents. Then it goes into discussion on what’s selling out, what hasn’t and what deals and discounts to be had on ACs in the lead up to December. Then in December we move onto AC opening threads!

There’s a separate thread for GWP, discounts and other deals here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5389635-beauty-chat-freebiesgifts-with-purchaseoffers-thread-four

A thread for the Liberty Beauty Drop here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5253698-liberty-beauty-drop-spoiler-from-the-despatch-date-part-9

MN has a great Christmas board for deals and early gift buying here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas

It is a lovely set!

It's nicer than the Estee Lauder one. I didn't like the look of that this year.

IlovePond · 03/09/2025 22:52

I agree @OvaHere - the EL set used to be fantastic and now it’s not really worth the money, (especially as I no longer use their palettes).

I almost didn’t get it last year, but cracked when EL dropped the minimum spend.

I use the ANR serum and eye serum every day, though, so will be doing the maths to see if it’s worth it for those alone. (With all the special offers/sales on at times, I am guessing it won’t.)

OvaHere · 03/09/2025 22:55

@IlovePond there's usually offers on ANR all year round. I saw they had a new eye serum out that's quite pricey. Will be interested to try it at some point as I really like the ANR eye cream.

I've bought one for £76.50. Bargain! Well not really but it's only slightly more than the cost of the palette and I've had my eye on that for a while. It's being put away for Xmas though.

Thank you! I've just bought this. At that price with the code and the samples, I couldn't say no really. I hope they honour it 🤞

OvaHere · 03/09/2025 23:41

The code WELCOME15 also works on the Lancome AC taking it down to £187

So many options I’m starting to lose the plot a little bit!

Does anyone remember seeing Allies of Skin in any of the calendars? I thought I saw a peptide cream but now I’m wondering if it was a dream!

It also looks to have a Hypnose in it, which are over £30, so those two items alone are more than you paid. What a bargain.

Was it the Mintd advent calendars? They are barely AC's though, more like edits.

One has the AoS cleansing balm and the other the peptide firming day cream.

In case this is a glitch, maybe interested parties should buy it now?

I remember last year something similar with Elizabeth Arden. For a short period their blockbuster set was available to buy with any small purchase and stacked with multiple other offers.

EA honoured a lot of the sales, then knocked it on the head, if I remember rightly.

That was a good glitch!

Edited

That was me that found that glitch! I change username alot. I felt bad posting about the glitch, then felt bad for those who didn't get the orders. I did get mine although I still haven't used any of it!

That's another product I've wanted to try for ages. Super happy with this (still unnecessary) purchase. 😁

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 03/09/2025 23:50

Thanks for the new thread @BakeOffRewatch

The Lancôme BAC looks really good & if I still used the Génifique serum I would probably get it. But I've moved on to using Elemis Pro Collagen serums as I think they give better results (well they do on me)

The EL blockbuster imo loses its shine every year. I got my first one in 2007 as an Xmas pressie from baby DD (still remember her playing with the make up brushes 🥰) & the EL contents were excellent - a massive eye palette, lots of lipsticks, glosses, lip & eyeliners etc. I still have & use the big gold case it all came in & the 2 powder brushes are still going strong 18 years later!

Anyone started dreaming BACs yet?
I have. Last night I dreamt I bought Liberty at Sainsbury's but when I got home I found one in the oven???? 🤔😵‍💫

No idea what that means 😂
Unless it's my subconscious telling me not to worry about getting Liberty at the end of September after my next BD payment going through.

Are you thinking of Caroline Hirons latest kit? Their peptides & antiox cream is in that

I wear the hypnose (that or estée lauder depending on the bargains to be had), I also wear la vie est belle a lot so it'll be good to have another travel size. I've also been wanting to try the serum ant the palette is so pretty. So for me, this is a great buy, if they honour it of course. I've already decided that I'm going to use the case to house my growing collection of miniature perfumes 🤣

I think this may have been it! Whoops, getting my beauty boxes and advent calendars all mixed up! Thanks so much for solving it @TempleBra

mrspk · 04/09/2025 06:57

I think I've decided to make my own this year using last year's Space NK box so I'm on the look out now for items to fill it. The Lancome box looks interesting but I can't see any sizes for anything, are the creams 15ml?

daisyboo1 · 04/09/2025 07:12

@OvaHere thank you for spotting that! I've purchased one at that price - not the JL price! I think you're right, that's probably the "worth" value but for some reason JL have set it as a selling price and no mention of having to buy anything else to qualify for purchase. Will be interesting to see if that changes over the next few days! Anyway, I'm very happy with £76.50 as a price, so thank you!

CorneliaStreet · 04/09/2025 07:26

I’ve just ordered the Lancôme beauty box too. You lot are a nightmare 😂

ACAC2023 · 04/09/2025 07:29

I am tempted just because it looks so beautiful but I don’t wear makeup 🤔

TreesinthePark · 04/09/2025 07:43

I spent last night trawling through Beauty Detectives advent page and now have my dream Vinted/ebay shopping list. Mainly new things for me to try but also a couple of staples like the Laneige Lip mask and CT setting spray I can hopefully save on.
I really could have added 80% of the Sephora calendar to my list so if its still available at end of the month pay day I might consider.

Here's my list, I find it do interesting how we're all attracted to particular products!

Beauty Detective site originally said it was a £50 pre spend which makes sense as that's how Estee Lauder do their big holiday bag (are they the same parent company?)

I do wonder if @IlovePond is correct and it's a glitch/error. So anyone deliberating getting it, it's possible the terms may change. If that's the case hopefully they will honour the orders!

Not sure I have 24 items but could add a sweet/chocolate to each of the empty drawers.

I could make several. Hundred. 🤣

Have to say that I really don't like Gruum. Their soaps went slimy very quickly when I bought them last year. Reminds me of Dr Botanicals who say their soaps are £12.99 then stick them in the sale for less than two quid each. I also think I've been guilty in the past of buying 'bargain' advent calendars looking at you Nivea which are only worth it if you like all the products. I guess the same can be said of all of the AC's.

I wasn't keen on their soaps. Always get an offer of offcuts. Refused it as like you wasn't impressed. 👍
I'll use the oils on my hands if I'm not keen. 🤣

I ordered last night. Very impulsive but looks good and lancome are a good brand so i can gift or sell on what i don't want. The dreaded red lipstick! 🤣
If it gets refunded back no worries. Theres so many offers about I'll find other bits for my DIY advent 🤩

OvaHere · 04/09/2025 08:26

Miss Boux unboxed Selfridges. She really liked it but it confirmed that I don't. All that lash stuff, whilst probably expensive, is not for me.
