Advent is a serious event in the liturgical calendar for Christians and if you’re saying you’re traditional that means a candle or a simple picture advent calendar with religious scenes. Beyond that, whether chocolate, cat food, Lego, beauty or jewellery it’s piggy backing off the important season with those feelings of tradition and anticipation of the birth of Jesus. So I think words like “butchering” applied to a box of £££ products that the retailers start planning and marketing the September 15 months beforehand, negotiating with brands, and marketing and selling is a bit unnecessary and extreme.
I’m the same as PP, I’ll only buy one I want and open it in December for the festivity but I have absolutely no judgement for people who do buy and use and sell - I think they’re much smarter than me in this commercialised world.
I think it was novel 10 years ago but the BAC market is becoming saturated - which means it’s a lot more competitive. That Face of Future festive edit is amazing. I think that’s why these threads are fantastic. You can see what is actually of value and what is hype. Especially as many of us have been watching beauty for 2 decades plus now.
The next event getting the Christmas treatment is Easter. Trees, wreaths, decoration, gifts have already become a thing. So I’m sure we’ll have BEC Beauty Easter Calendars soon. Though technically, should be called BLC Beauty Lent Calendars.
