I hardly post in this topic but read it frequently and thought it would be interesting to see what recommendations you got from here that turned out to be great. I always prefer to come here instead of reading reviews that could be paid for. These are the two I’m forever grateful for

Ancient & Brave true collagen- seeing results after 5 months, will continue

Dermatica- completely eradicated acne that I had for 30 years and tried every blood cream and diet going!

Apols, I googled and I think they're these .

Yes - I bought the high waist rather than the cross waist ,

Glaize nails. I read about them on here and thought I'd give them a try.

Game changed 😀. Up until the last five years ive always painted my nails myself. I cannot do nails that need "proving" under a lamp as I have Horners syndrome which means I don't react to temperature hot or cold and iv e also developed Essential Tremor, which means I don't have the dexterity to paint my nails.

Gaize nails I can just about manage.

I’ve looked at these but it seems you have to sign up for a subscription?

user1471453601 · 25/08/2025 22:15

@TuesdaysAreBest no. You get the choice of a "one off" or a subscription. I did the one off for a couple of purchases and realised that the bit that didn't work for me was the width of the mail (I have quite a narrow nail) so eventually went for the the made to measure type.

If really encourage you to use the company. I've found them very good.

Getting a proper bra fitting.

Getting a proper bra fitting.

Oh yes, I was influenced by that one too!

It wasn't a great success story for me. I went to that shop in London (Oxford or Regent St, can't remember exactly where or what it was called!) that everyone on here raved about. Which was quite a big thing as I was briefly visiting from the other side of the world.

I spent a small fortune on 3 bras which are tight and quite itchy. They are all different sizes (even the 2 which are the same brand), so I never did find out my actual size for the purpose of ordering online in future. The bras give a nice shape, but not enough of an improvement over my others to warrant the intense desire to rip them off myself after a few hours of wear.

Wearing a smaller bikini despite my flabby tummy. I saw several threads saying that bigger bikini didn't make you look slimmer

I still wear swimsuits for pools in the uk.

yellowcupofhappy · 26/08/2025 13:57

What is the bha that people recommend for teenage skin?

Catpiece · 27/08/2025 11:02

Sanctuary Spa shower products. Never used them before seeing the recommendations on here. OMG they’re amazing.

Tight-lining instead of eyeliner.
Korean towels for exfoliating.
Using bar soap instead of shower gel for smelly pits.

Yes to tightlining!
Bar of soap instead of showergel
Tinted SPF instead of foundation

Be careful with tightlining: ophthalmologists advise against this as it interferes with the process of producing tears and causes dry eyes and styes.

What do you both use for tight lining? X

Yes , the buttery leggings

I have a couple of pairs but mainly wear them indoors .

Not see-through if you get the right size

Yes! I love those leggings. I struggle to find ones that fit as I have big calves and a small bum (im either cutting my circulation off to my lower legs or walking round with a saggy arse!) but the Amazon ones have the perfect amount of stretch.
Have them in a few colours and they wash well and aren't see through.

Also 'that' Uniqlo bag. Just the right size and so many colours.

Really? I’ve been doing it for 10 years with no problems. I just do it on my top lids and keep the liner up in the eyelashes, so not very different to getting your mascara right into the root of your eyelashes.

@FluffypieceI just use Rimmel Scandaleyes waterproof liquid liner as it has a very fine tip. I don’t like the drag of kohl pencils. I draw a fine line right under my upper eyelashes, into the base of the lashes rather than on the water line. Some people dot it in to the eyelash roots.

period underwear & re-usable pads
total gamechanger for me and my teen.

flannel & bar soap

Hdhdhdfjhf · 27/08/2025 21:17

This just reminded me to replace my mascara with the tubing version. No smudges. Easy to take off.

RampantIvy · 27/08/2025 22:30

If I had been younger I would have bought a mooncup. I had never heard of them until mumsnet, but by then I was past needing anything like that.

Solovair boots
The Next £7.50 scoop neck, rolled sleeve T shirt that is very flattering and (used to) comes in loads of colours.
Land’s End Tugless, long body swimsuits. I recommend them a lot too.
Acai walking kit.

Agree about the Next T-shirts. Wasn’t aware of the swimsuits though, so I’ll definitely be having a look at those!

does the tubing mascara irritate your eyes? I have dry eyes and loads of mascaras make my eyes sore….

I find it is better as it doesn't flake off as much.
