I hardly post in this topic but read it frequently and thought it would be interesting to see what recommendations you got from here that turned out to be great. I always prefer to come here instead of reading reviews that could be paid for. These are the two I’m forever grateful for

Ancient & Brave true collagen- seeing results after 5 months, will continue

Dermatica- completely eradicated acne that I had for 30 years and tried every blood cream and diet going!

@Placeithere I have see a definite reduction in the finer lines around my eyes. Really noticeable. The slightly deeper lines don’t look as deep. My skin just looks nicer, a better colour (!) in that it’s not dull, has a glow.

@Mondaybluez it’s an online prescription service where you send in photos and they send you a personalised formula. They increase the strength as you tolerate more. I used it for a year, the acne disappeared after about 6 months and I continued to use it for another 6. I stopped using it a year ago and not a single breakout has reoccurred.

This M&S red dress - I bought it late at night having seen it on MN and it’s been sold out ever since. I have had lots of compliments on it and it was only about £30!

This one isn't red and isn't tiered but similar vibe I feel. Only £20, lovely crisp poplin, pockets and high ruched waist. Sooo flattering and expensive-looking. Also available in blue and ivory prints. Sorry if off topic but feeling the need to share this treasure https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E477526-000/00?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=18136598764&gbraid=0AAAAADM0H6jyiZnLF2lgJSfl3H1qka9nm&gclid=Cj0KCQjwh5vFBhCyARIsAHBx2wzvl-VVCewUqT58ocnzu-Cv81iueeyW1xuyC6wo4xhIqm-xPZq0J_IaAqJOEALw_wcB&colorDisplayCode=09&sizeDisplayCode=003

If you wear red knickers and bra under white they don't show. I tried and it works!

This very much did not work for a woman I was walking behind a couple of weeks ago.

Of course it doesn’t work unless your skin is red or black skin with warm tones.

TheCurious0range · 23/08/2025 19:41

The soft buttery leggings from Amazon! WFH staple last winter with slipper boots a vest, shirt and a big cardi for between meetings

Darkdiamond · 23/08/2025 19:47

Another one for Paula's Choice BHA

babylone · 23/08/2025 19:56

Would the Paula’s choice BHA be suitable for a very spotty 15yo child?

Lndnmummy · 23/08/2025 20:21

Yes my DC uses it.

Anyone have recommendations for hyper-pigmentation on the face? I'm currently using the Garnier Vit C cleanser and a vit c oil...Not sure I'm seeing much of a difference.

Felt like I should edit to add some:
ModiBodi and M&S Period pants - boy-short ones
FitVille wide toe trainers (sometimes the mens' are cheaper and my feet aren't sexist)
Those soap jute pouches for the shower - only way I get dd to use the soap as she didn't like seeing the cracks/hairs in dried soap before and now we exfoliate at the same time! Cheap too.

ZenZazie · 23/08/2025 22:33

Alpha-H Liquid Gold. Got rid of some acne scarring for me.

DoctorMartin · 23/08/2025 22:40

Tretinoin. Thank you very much!

deeahgwitch · 23/08/2025 22:58

Retinol can be bought over the counter in pharmacies in Spain.
L’occitane almond shower oil. Gorgeous but expensive.
Mitchum stick deodorant.
Aveeno Cream to oil almond body lotion.
Palmers Coconut Body lotion and hand cream ( not the Cocoa ones with the ghastly scent ).
Lidl’s dupe of L’occitane Shea butter hand cream. Great stuff. Cheap as chips.
The Inkey List Bakuchiol face cream. A natural alternative to Retinol.

Just bought some of the short style ones and wore them yesterday under a dress .
Amazing !!-thank you for the recommendation.

Emma330912 · 24/08/2025 06:42

Another one for Dermatica, my son used it for his acne & it completely cleared it! Oh & not "worked" but recommended, a Blakely hoodie, so snuggly

tallwivglasses · 24/08/2025 07:01

Flexitol foot cream for keratosis polaris. Thank you to whoever recommended this years ago - it works!

babylone · 24/08/2025 07:25

On that (foot) note - Vicks vaporub applied daily to nails infected by a fungal infectIon - works 100 times better than the OTC treatment (nail varnish thing).

Ilyoon ceramid face cream - makes my skin SO soft! It feels like a baby bottom! https://amzn.eu/d/iVyNm7I

Optimum nutrition whey protein powder vanilla ice cream - tastiest protein powder.

also fat free ice cream: blend frozen fruit with a scoop of protein powder (or with an egg white) and ta-da! Fat free healthy yummy ice cream!

Oh yes, these are really fab. I have in the dark blue and keep trying to decide if I need black as well.

what is so good about them?

greengreyblue · 24/08/2025 09:10

I made that Pure Magic spray yesterday. It really is good. One spray and wipe and cleaned my internal doors really well. I added some lavender oil as that’s all I had so it smells good too.
