I hardly post in this topic but read it frequently and thought it would be interesting to see what recommendations you got from here that turned out to be great. I always prefer to come here instead of reading reviews that could be paid for. These are the two I’m forever grateful for

Ancient & Brave true collagen- seeing results after 5 months, will continue

Dermatica- completely eradicated acne that I had for 30 years and tried every blood cream and diet going!

Anyone have recommendations for hyper-pigmentation on the face? I'm currently using the Garnier Vit C cleanser and a vit c oil...Not sure I'm seeing much of a difference.

Felt like I should edit to add some:
ModiBodi and M&S Period pants - boy-short ones
FitVille wide toe trainers (sometimes the mens' are cheaper and my feet aren't sexist)
Those soap jute pouches for the shower - only way I get dd to use the soap as she didn't like seeing the cracks/hairs in dried soap before and now we exfoliate at the same time! Cheap too.

Edited

Retinol at night . I use The Ordinary one in squaline and have no irritation. Must follow with high spf next day.

Just bought some of the short style ones and wore them yesterday under a dress .
Amazing !!-thank you for the recommendation.

I find the material too thick and they roll down all the time.

I made that Pure Magic spray yesterday. It really is good. One spray and wipe and cleaned my internal doors really well. I added some lavender oil as that’s all I had so it smells good too.

Can you explain more about this please?

Oh gawd am I on the wrong thread again?

Tretinoin, THE Uniqlo bag, and Kerastase hair serum.

Hair and me hair tablets. Phillips lumea. Linen everything. Halará stretchy waist band jeans

@notnorman - dyou mind if I ask if you used Hair + Me for particular a hair condition(s), or just to improve general hair health? And, either way, what kind of results did you get? I've got hairloss and had been weighing up signing up, would be great to get some honest insight

How do you make this? Sounds fab

OhDorWheresthesalad · 24/08/2025 09:49

@jeansgenie - I use Skin&Me. I said I wanted to address hyperpigmentation and the formula they sent me sorted it out within a month or so.

Wrong thread . It’s a cleaning product not a beauty one. Sorry!
If you realised that it’s Nancy Birtwhistle’s recipe.

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 24/08/2025 10:12

I’ve been lured in by everyone’s recommendations and ordered dermatica.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/08/2025 10:13

Waitrose Camomile Soap - cheap as chips and nice subtle fragrance

Korean Italy cloths to scrub off all that dry skin in the bath , but as I never have a bath ( that sounds bad ! I use the shoer ) I bought some long scrubby cloths that I can either roll up into a square or hold both ends and do my back easily .

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 24/08/2025 10:13

I ordered dermatica then cancelled my subscription after nearly a month of waiting for them to dispatch my first order. Useless!!

Holidayshopping · 24/08/2025 10:48

The TU no VPL lace top low rise knicker shorts were recommended on here and they were the best knickers in the whole world!

For some unfathomable reason, TU decided to stop making them and I can't find anything that is anywhere near as good! Wish I'd bought 5 packs when they still made them!

Alternativetolove · 24/08/2025 10:49

Uncouth is another skin prescription service, I prefer their formula to skin & me. Haven't tried dermatica.

I love the plamer's cocoa butter retexture moisturiser (the orange one). It's cheap, absorbs really quickly and makes my skin less bumpy.

Another mumsnet recommendation I use daily is the loreal skin tint.

Revlon hair styler, far better than my Big Hair styler although I think that was also a MN recommendation many years ago. 😬

Which styler is it please? I'm in need of one 😁

yellowcupofhappy · 24/08/2025 11:29

On that (foot) note - Vicks vaporub applied daily to nails infected by a fungal infectIon - works 100 times better than the OTC treatment (nail varnish thing).

Ilyoon ceramid face cream - makes my skin SO soft! It feels like a baby bottom! https://amzn.eu/d/iVyNm7I

Optimum nutrition whey protein powder vanilla ice cream - tastiest protein powder.

also fat free ice cream: blend frozen fruit with a scoop of protein powder (or with an egg white) and ta-da! Fat free healthy yummy ice cream!

Oooh love the idea of protein powder and fruit to make an Icecream but need to ask do you have to mix the powder with a little liquid before adding?

Try blending frozen banana . You have to eat it quick but it’s delish! You could add a dollop of Greek yoghurt for protein.

babylone · 24/08/2025 12:19

@TheDutchHouseadd only a splash of milk or water because the frozen fruits already contain water. If using egg white, no need for other liquid. You need a good blender.

Ah! Thanks , just looked it up, but where can I get citric acid from?

cosietea · 24/08/2025 13:11

Also to add that my dermatica prescription also for rid of hyperpigmentation even though I was only focussed on the acne. A nice bonus!

Sweaty Betty Gary yoga pants. I mean it’s typical they don’t make them anymore but I found them in the outlet and loved them so much I went back for a second pair. I’ve lived in them at home over the summer.

GAJLY · 24/08/2025 14:12

A dyson airwrap has been the best thing ever! So glad I bought one, my hair is less drizzy and has actually started to grow! Think it's because it's less hot and damaging.

RomainingCalm · 24/08/2025 17:19

@SunsetIceCream@yellowcupofhappy

This is the one I bought. I was sceptical as it’s not an expensive styling product but it works really well for me, grips well and doesn’t tangle.
