Some spoilers for M&S from an article in the Independent:

I bloody hate Percy & Reed and Colour Wow as they have been in everything the past few years. Mind, I just don't like random hair products full stop. Some of the other brands I'd be happy with.

The Mumsnet Roundup of the best and most popular beauty Advent calendars is out on the main page and once again does not include the John Lewis one anywhere, I noticed last year that it wasn't mentioned - which is strange? The piece covers this year and 2024. The JL cal is just mentioned in a list of calendars coming out.

I've previously got candle ones and H&B for the DDs, Degustabox when D1 was in a 2nd year houseshare at university, and I usually get the M&S one to raid for stocking pressies. But I'm wondering about having a treat this year, so possibly JL or the Fortnum's one? I also love the idea and the look of the Rituals ones.

£60 is a lot for the M&S one imo

And those product reveals were so predicatable.

@JulesJules I had the most expensive Rituals one last year. It was okay but as my December opening calendar I wasn't wowed. It got a bit samey and there were a lot of teeny tiny things in it. I like Rituals products but I wouldn't bother again, at least not the one that's around £175. You can sometimes pick up the previous years calendars in the store outlets.

They've just launched an online outlet via the website so I wouldn't be surprised if last years stock appear on there in the next few months.

The one I like best so far is Anthropologie, which I'm surprised and delighted about as it's much cheaper than the likes of Liberty, Harrods etc. Still holding out for Vogue and Astley Clarke before I commit

My Harrods fragrance calendar has just arrived ☺️. I would love to sniff some of them but it’s going straight into the wardrobe until xmas day.

Although after looking in the mirror earlier, I think I need to use some of my stuff rather than stash it 🤔

With 12 day advents, how does everyone do it? Every other day, or 12 days in a row?

Ive always assumed that the 12 day calendars were meant to start on the first day of Christmas, so I start mine on Christmas Day. I ended up avoiding the opening threads last year because people started opening the 12 days of Christmas calendars on 1 December.

Oh you are very good!! I managed to refrain from spraying any - just. I have been back to it though and sniffed a few more 🤣 it's only the Parfum de Marly, rude oud and Bromptons that I've not opened, oops!!

I was planning on doing a pre-advent advent calendar, but my mum told me it was a ridiculous idea, but I really wanted a new perfume to take on my Christmas market holiday at the end of Nov 😕

Do we know how much of a discount LF bb subscribers get on a calendar?

Thank you! I think it's a good idea too. Then you've got a load of fragrances to use in December for parties, nights out, meals etc 🤣 i think I might go back to doing that. Then it's 37 days of presents 😍

Especially with the £35 spend requirement too. It used to be great value but not so much anymore.

Harrods Fragrance has arrived and looks amazing. I have checked it but unfortunately nearly all the perfumes are sealed in cellophane so no opportunity to have a sneaky spray or sniff but looks insane value. Regretting not getting two now and using one just for gifts so I could have looked like the most generous aunt ever

I've already ripped the cellophane off a few, couldn't stop myself 🙈 I think I got too excited. I managed to resist the rude oud, Parfum de Marly and Brompton, but I'm one weak moment away from running upstairs and ripping my way through the rest of them like a feral bloodhound 🤣

I’ve recently managed to finish my third and final 10ml bottle of Floral Street Sweet Almond Blossom and I think I’m going to have to rule out the M & S calendar purely because I cannot face yet another one coming into my life 😆

Not sure I can face ploughing through another bottle of that body cocoon stuff either. Why do they put the same things in every year? I bet there are a couple of bottles of Nails Inc varnish and a L’Occitane Shea hand cream too.
