Annual Style and Beauty Advent Calendar discussion thread. First AC reveal this year was 23rd June. First luxury reveal was 2nd July. Thread 1 here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5360770-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion

The regulars on the thread mainly discuss luxury BAC and this dies down by September when everyone has purchased and forgotten the contents. Then it goes into discussion on what’s selling out, what hasn’t and what deals and discounts to be had on ACs in the lead up to December. Then in December we move onto AC opening threads!

There’s a separate thread for GWP, discounts and other deals here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5338957-beauty-chat-freebiesgifts-with-purchaseoffers-thread-three

A thread for the Liberty Beauty Drop here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5253698-liberty-beauty-drop-spoiler-from-the-despatch-date-part-9

I clicked- it’s a lot of minis!

IlovePond · 15/08/2025 13:07

And lash serum 🙀🙀🙀🙀

MrsBnow12 · 15/08/2025 12:58

My link didn’t post but it’s Beauty Calendars on YouTube

At least one looks to have a fair bit of K beauty. The other a full size DE peptide cream which I do like. Promising.

OvaHere · 15/08/2025 13:14

Cult Beauty is a no. Which I'm sort of relieved about.

Arrearing50 · 15/08/2025 13:17

Well booooo re cult beauty - there are only two products I really want there (medik8 and bader lash). Two mists??

if it was £200 I’d probably buy it.

that denona palette would be of use for world book day dress up or something, otherwise…

I am liking the skincare one so far as is a contender depending on all of it.
Cult beauty is a no for me as well, so many products have been in edits this year

OvaHere · 15/08/2025 13:29

@MrsBnow12 that's always the issue with CB. Their edits are better than the AC.

IlovePond · 15/08/2025 13:33

Just noticed that Boots have a variety of a/cs available now:

https://www.boots.com/christmas/advent-calendars?

I wonder if they will do 3-4-2 on them at some point as they did last year.

Some of the children’s ones have 10% off.

Its full of too many minis and like you only two products appeal so going to give it a miss this year. Just wishing Space NK hurry up and reveal their calendar now.

psuedocream3 · 15/08/2025 13:45

Cult beauty is a no from me, mostly because the shades of everything seem just so random, and unflattering for many.

For those wanting to know the Kilian perfume, it appears to be Kilian Smoking Hot which is a tobacco based perfume.

Arrearing50 · 15/08/2025 13:46

Agree - maybe they all think they’re going ti end up selling a lot with linked discounts and that’s why they’re adjusting the offfer.

CB did great edits around Halloween time last year

Addictedtobeauty · 15/08/2025 12:06

Struggling to think of a demographic over the age of 5 that would like that palette. Very strange choice.

Me I’m over 5 😂but I have under 5yo maybe my tastes are skewed by the people I hang out with 😅

Same actually. Just Space NK, JLP and Sephora I'm interested to see now but I think the only serious contenders so far are Liberty and possibly Harrods.

Evergreen21 · 15/08/2025 14:12

I'm not too sure on Cult beauty now. They did say it would have more of a focus on makeup but I don't see that. I appreciate it's difficult with makeup to suit everyone but the shades they've included won't work for me. In terms of skincare I still prefer Liberty. I feel much better about Selfridges now although I still think last year was better at least in terms of makeup.

If Glossybox can include a full sized Natasha Denona palette and another palette(i think another poster mentioned this) then a quad from Morphe (in the Selfridges calendar) is a bit lacking as is the one in Cult beauty in terms of a makeup offering. I appreciate the skincare items are likely much more pricey in the Cult advent. There is a lot of competition in calendars between £100-200 and I think we will see more raising their game.

Hicupping · 15/08/2025 14:17

Cult beauty is disappointing. The PTA blush is terrible colour for me, the eyeshadow pallete seriously.... There's a few things I like but not enough to make it worth £250. I'd try the k18 mask £70!, the Paula's choice, and the Medik8 which is the stand out for me. This Gisou lip is a nice too. Everything else is at most nice to have but not excited. Liberty or Selfridges are probably stand out but Elle is looking like a definite for value and content.

MidnightMeltdown · 14/08/2025 22:58

Selfridges has a scalp brush FFS. Is this the new jade roller? I bet Look Fantastic will have a scalp brush too. They love filling doors with stuff like this.

There was one in H&B last year. I was sceptical but I really like it.

Edited

The Morphe palette makes me a bit more interested in Selfridges. Poor reasoning because it's only a £16 palette but I have one of them in different shades and the formula is very nice. I almost bought the pinky one that's in the calendar at the same time but decided to make do with one.

Yes, the skincare one looks good based on that clip.

First Boots Spoilers are out, the premuim is £150 and skincare one is £70.

That’s a 50% price rise. I didn’t mind paying £99.
My 25 yr ds has decided he’s going to uni after all and got his first choice. In the middle of the countryside and no transport. So now he’s googling intensive driving courses. This might be an expensive few months for me. Sigh.

owlexpress · 15/08/2025 17:10

The £99 Boots calendar didn't tempt me, the contents were too small for my preference. Yes £150 is a big jump, but it looks like they've upped their game. A 50ml DE cream is about £50 and that's just one of the items.

BakeOffRewatch · 15/08/2025 17:38

Oh wow ok just signed up to the Boots wait list. www.boots.com/beauty/luxury-beauty-skincare/waitinglist They seem very generous on full sizes. I am very anti mini/deluxe/travel size. Christmas treat+stocking up for the year is my aim. Might get both £220 is less than the other luxury beauty advent calendars.

I looked at the Liberty AC contents and found them very disappointing. A lot of travel sized perfumes and not much else.

Same here. Then they really lost me with Elasticizer.

No mention of that one on the Irish site. I hope they do it in Ireland again as it looks good based on what has been revealed. And presumably no makeup.
