I’ve had my eye on this bag for a while since the zip broke on my River Island cross body bag.

Basically I want a cross body bag with the wide strap as they are really comfy to wear.

I do like the colour/style, but I’m a bit unsure about the logo. I’ve never bought a bag with that price tag, always just River Island or Accessorize.

Yes it is.

DearGoldBee · 19/07/2025 18:12

Yes

I've held out camera bags for years partly because I don't like the stripy straps and tassels a lot of them have and I have the Uniqlo ones for the same use, casual, small holds a lot. But I have now found myself fancying the Fat Face one as I am a bit bored of the Uniqlos. A little concerned about the datedness thing though, they have been ubiquitous for a few years now but then maybe that's because they are so practical.

Not massively. Pretty run of the mill, inoffensive and the kind of bag I see lots of middle aged mums wearing.

Is there any need for ageism??

londongirl12 · 19/07/2025 21:01

Nothing wrong with it. Have a look at Katie Loxton. Similar price range but I think are a bit nicer.

Absentmindedsmile · 19/07/2025 22:04

Lovely bag. The colour means it’s quite understated, despite the logo. Worn with basics / plain stylish clothes - gorgeous!

abracadabra1980 · 19/07/2025 22:47

Oh bless you - you sound quite young and like others, I was going to say I wasn't keen on the wide strap, but I'm probably decades older than you so ignore me. I think it's lovely - not tacky at all, and certainly not half as tacky as those who need to be seen trotting through the airport with, LV luggage just to prove they earn over 50p. If you like it, you buy it. Life is short - enjoy!

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 19/07/2025 23:23

I like the wider straps too . They are comfortable. I have that style of bag in khaki green.

Italianqueen · 18/07/2025 17:15

Less of the middle aged thank you 🤣

Why. What’s awful about being middle aged?

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 19/07/2025 23:31

If you are in your twenties, it’s ancient!

FreewomaninParis · 19/07/2025 23:34

Just op posted a very boring bag then acted faux shocked when someone thought she was the age that bag was probably designed for. Although you can wear whatever you want whenever you want. And being middle aged isn’t an embarrassment

Gowlett · 19/07/2025 23:40

I’d only pay for a leather bag.

Blinky21 · 19/07/2025 23:46

Not tacky but quite frumpy, might just be me but I really dislike wide, removable strap bags

SiameseBlueEyes · 20/07/2025 05:36

I think it's a bit dowdy and I'm old. Also won't that colour get very grubby quickly?

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 20/07/2025 06:49

I’ve just bought the Whistles Bibi bag. Small, nice soft leather, and when you pay a tenner for it in a charity shop, very cheap.

Actually though, I have a v. low spending limit on bags, and would pay the £100 it seems to be costing in the sales.

CoffeeCantata · 20/07/2025 07:11

I don’t like logos or labels on anything. I prefer absolutely plain bags.

Sam9769 · 20/07/2025 08:08

The logo on the strap makes it look a bit tacky. Sorry!

TweedleDumbAndTweedleDeeeeeeeee · 20/07/2025 08:13

If you like it then surely that’s all that matters? Who cares whether other people find it tacky or not. They probably own stuff that you might find tacky and that’s ok.

Italianqueen · 20/07/2025 09:59

Those saying that the bag is frumpy/dowdy/dated.

What style of bag do you use?

Genuinely, because this is the style of bag that I see a lot of women wear. I’m a interested to know what bags aren’t frumpy.

Please explain how my post was ageist.

Sandyoldelbows · 20/07/2025 10:04

Italian - I think nearly all bags look a bit twee or frumpy. I mainly use my pocket. I have a few bags for when I really need one but I don’t think any of them are amazing and I find them annoying. I don’t think ££££££ ones are any better. I think cross body bags are unflattering on the tits for nearly everyone, and more so the bigger the boobs.

Yesterdaytodaytomorrowagain · 20/07/2025 10:05

I like it, I find the wider straps more comfy. End of the day, if you like it - buy it!

I am inclined to agree with this actually.

But I hate having everything in my pockets, so a bag I can live with is a must. I need something that holds my phone, purse, sunglasses and tissues 🤣

I have a small natural leather one with a short strap from some German company. I like flattish bags tucked under the arm rather than flapping around. Also have a hideous nylon one for airports / trains with many pockets.

CalamityGanon · 20/07/2025 11:18

Not tacky at all. To me bags only look tacky if they have chains. They always manage to look cheap even if they’re genuine Louis Vuitton which always manages to look tacky chain or not. I like that style very much but wouldn’t really want the visible ‘Kurt Geiger’ branding.
