I’m seeing loads of people wearing them but they still look like old people’s shoes to me! They look super comfy though so may invest in a pair.

They're perennial

TheCurious0range · 03/07/2025 10:39

People wear Birkenstocks all the time they are devoted to them I don't think they ever went away (I find them hugely uncomfortable)

CapaciousHag · 03/07/2025 11:03

Where’ve you been, @GirlPolo? Birkenstocks have been a perennial favourite for as long as I can remember. They don’t need to be in or out of fashion, it makes no difference.

(People have found a difference in quality recently.)

GirlPolo · 03/07/2025 11:12

Oh really?! I had no idea! Off I go to the shops…..

I live in Birkenstocks. I have the clog ones with the sheepskin insoles for Winter and the Arizonas for Summer. I have wide feet so these are the most comfy shoes for me. Enjoy @GirlPolo ❤️

Utterlyconfusednow · 03/07/2025 19:16

Are these comfortable for longish walks?

TimeFliesin2046 · 03/07/2025 19:18

I always thought they were old people too, but I finally caved in and got a pair this year (I’m 38) and, oh my gosh! They’re so comfy.

Overtheatlantic · 03/07/2025 19:20

Birkenstocks will never go out of fashion because they will never be in fashion. They are on their own level in terms of style and comfort.

ScratCat · 03/07/2025 19:20

Where have you been, OP?

People having been wearing Arizonas for years and years.

I’m wearing mine now with short denim shorts. I have several pairs, but also the clog version which is trendy rn.

I think they look fabulous.

Zempy · 03/07/2025 19:22

Never been out of fashion!! I have Arizonas and Bostons. Absolutely love them.

JollyJolene · 03/07/2025 19:23

I thought it was going to be a picture of jelly shoes. I’ve seen a few people wearing them recently.

I find them to be, yes. Walked the dog for a couple of hours yesterday and had no problems. In fact, it was like walking on air!

Thank you! Just what I’m looking for.

Falingoth · 03/07/2025 19:53

Never understood the appeal personally. They're very overpriced, for a start.
I've got some Clarks sandals which have lasted me years and years, and they were way cheaper.

menopausalfart · 03/07/2025 23:28

I had a pair in my 20s. Very comfortable. I'm a sucker for comfort though.

MidnightMeltdown · 04/07/2025 00:44

Those are the shoes of old men and maths teachers

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 04/07/2025 04:55

I would love to be able to wear them
nit the foot bed tray or whatever it’s called doesn’t fit my stupid toes.

W0tnow · 04/07/2025 05:01

I just cannot keep them on my feet without gripping with my toes, no matter how tight I have them.

Gymnopediegivesmethewillies · 04/07/2025 05:23

I find them desperately uncomfortable. My Dh bought me a pair when I had a nasty blister on a weekend away. Bliss because they didn’t rub my heel but it felt like the bumps inside were in all the wrong places. Do you need to wear them in? Don’t think I’ve had them back on except the one day!

I’m old so will only feed into your securities OP! However, I’ve worn them for years and years and just love them. I can walk miles in them even in great heat with zero discomfort..

Utterlyconfusednow, sounds obvious I know but make sure you get the right style and width if you want to do long walks. I bought a narrower width pair in error which look great actually but are not as comfortable.

The last 2 pairs have felt uncomfortable on the soles of my feet for the first few days, after which the most comfortable shoes imaginable. I live in them for 10 months of the year (hot climate).

Doncarlos · 04/07/2025 05:55

I just can’t make them work for me

I think I have odd shaped feet as whenever I’ve tried them on either my toes or another part of my sole feels like it’s rubbing on a ridge.
The fake ones I bought from fat face are more comfortable but I find walking any distance in them a challenge. They just don’t seem to want to stay attached to my feet so I’m clomping around.
And when I do wear them, I feel they just make my already chunky calves look huge. If I have shorts on I feel like my lower half looks the same as my builders.

yours looks good though.
