Chic French woman or old man sandal? Help.

I have been looking at these for a while - I think they look "cool French woman"/ a bit Sezane - but do they look like old man on hols?

I'm so undecided, they are quite different from my usual style, which is more feminine and heels - I completely avoided the clumpy DM/sandal thing.

I do like a swedish clog but they can be annoying to walk in.

I have these ones and think they are lush.

Now you've said old man on hols, that's exactly what they are. Please don't buy. They are neither elegant nor clompy. It has to be either/ or.

I like these ones as they look more casual and less sensible/as if they are trying to be smart, if you see what I mean

I went to a convent school and to me they are very definitely nun shoes.

The Cos ones are grim but the first you linked are good OP. The second you linked are too delicate, a bit too pretty.

I've always had a pair of these sandals, sometimes you want no socks but toe coverage!

I'd love a pair of fisherman's sandals but the ones I have actually seen in Anthropologie and OB and other places have plastic soles and I only want a rubbery sole

I think they are quite nice. I'm surprised. Thought they would be awful.

They are all awful. They conjure up a mental picture of my husband's nan who dressed like Nora Batty and wore this type of sandal.

These all scream old man. Or old German man with socks on (I love old German men with socks on just FYI).

I love the Elodie sandals linked to above but annoying the 36 was too small and the 37 too big so they had to go back. Then I bought a pair of these and I love them, very heavy though!

Yes ! My maths teacher at school in the 70’s used to wear them, I have a memory that somehow one of her toes used to stick out of the side🤣. She was quite strange too…
Safe to say that’s one fashion item I won’t be bothering with. It may be a bit dated now but I still love the white trainers and lovely dress thing. Comfy too !

I only see European old men wearing the male versions of these and they tend to be chic.
