Recommend me a chunky cosy wool jumper

I am after a brand that does good quality chunky pure wool or alpaca jumpers in neutral colours. I already shop in the likes of Arket and Cos. Also rate Celtic but wanted a bit of an upgrade. I know Babaa have what I am looking for, but ideally something a bit more affordable...Are there certain brands you'd recommend to go for? Don't mind spending more, maybe up to £200

She is an absolute queen. I have many of her jumpers/ cardis/ tops/ socks, and they are so stylist and versatile. A bit of an investment but worth every penny.

DH just got me this Genevive for Xmas 2025 in the sale. I'm on a no buy clothes year so can't buy anything for myself but just couldn't resist this.

It's a great shape, cropped but not too fitted and the mix of pink/lime/charcoal together combines to make a neutral looking colour that's quite unusual. Not a great picture as I'm wearing my PJs.

Just returning to this thread to ask anyone who owns a Babaa jumper have they been brave enough to actually wash it? I have 2 and I wear them on repeat during the winter months but I am terrified to wash them in case I shrink them.

You can wash on the 'wool/silk' cycle in your washing machine - I've never had any problems

I bought a Genevieve Sweeney cardigan recently and am thrilled with it.

RavenhairedRachel · 09/02/2025 08:55

I bought my daughter one for Christmas from a website called finisterre. She researched it and chose it. She loves it and wear it alot. It's sort of a fisherman's rib. She's early 30's

Chalk Clothing make a fab chunky jumper. I have them in navy and Stone . Worn for the third winter.. hardly any bobbles and they keep their shape when washed. I will definitely be buying in different shades as I'm thrilled with the quality. Around £125

My current favourite (and I'm addicted to chunky knits, so it's a fairly crowded field) is my Navygrey heirloom funnel

It's very pale grey, think I got it for about 170 in the Repaired/Renewed section last year. It just feels so good to wear. It's so thick and so soft.

This looks fab! I am going to have to catch that sale. I've been wearing my &daughter jumper and so so happy with the quality, the style and how warm and soft it is. Absolutely fantastic!

Yes it would appear to be the case. They currently have their spring /summer stuff available. No jumpers until the winter

Just checked my Maria Jumper and it's 50%wool and 50%acrylic. Probably not for you by the sounds of it. Good luck with your search

&Daughter stuff is gorgeous as well, I've got a lovely little red jumper from them. You should sign up for emails from Navygrey as they send a mail when new things are added to Repaired/Renewed, and they go pretty quickly. They had a 40% off sale at some point last year, hoping for another one this year.

It's this one: www.genevievesweeney.com/product/alloa-cardigan-lambswool-limepink/

But I'm only 5'2 and small framed.

I got the size small, here's a picture of it.

Navygrey sale is on, FYI - need to be quick, though, as they sell pretty quickly.

Can you post a link, please? I can’t find a sale anywhere on their website.

LunaNorth · 28/02/2025 09:29

Thank you!

Just wanted to give an update. I managed to get a couple of jumpers in the Navy grey closing down sample sale in London and wow the quality is outstanding! I cant stop wearing them, so chuffed with my purchases 😊

I love Marilyn Moore sweaters. I’ve got several in their Handmade Cashmere and the quality is really soft. I saw a slouchy cosy one in their Easter Sale I’m thinking of getting for my trip to Norfolk. Dublin sweater

Coming back to this thread a year later and I have now built up my knitwear collection via various sales and Vinted - thanks for all the recommendations 😃 I have quite a few &daughter pieces, a few navygrey jumpers, a Charl jumper that I fancied and a Margaret Howell one (I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality!). Still no Babaa. The quality of these compared with what I used to buy on the high street is unparalleled (I can't quite believe it still). I got rid of all my Cos and Arket knitwear, and I really love my collection and truly treasure every piece, knowing that it will likely last me many years (with proper care). I am really pleased with the result - not bad for one year! I still have my eye on Bosie and maybe maybe Genevieve Sweeney and another Charl 😂
