Recommend me a chunky cosy wool jumper

I am after a brand that does good quality chunky pure wool or alpaca jumpers in neutral colours. I already shop in the likes of Arket and Cos. Also rate Celtic but wanted a bit of an upgrade. I know Babaa have what I am looking for, but ideally something a bit more affordable...Are there certain brands you'd recommend to go for? Don't mind spending more, maybe up to £200

I have this in black and red and it's excellent. They restock in new colours every so often.

Not read thread to see if anyone else has already recommended Finisterre and their chunky yak wool jumpers. I have two and when I wear one with a thermal base layer underneath I don't need the heating on, even in the current weather. They are also beautiful and bloody expensive

Those sound great, but I couldn't find them in the Finisterre site...could you include a link to one?

I bought the absolute jumper of dreams from Ralph Lauren recently. If you have a decent vintage shop near you it's also worth a look as some of the older ones are beautiful and you can see how they wash (and they're cheaper!).

Not massively impressed by my white company jumper which bobbled almost immediately.

EllaPaella · 11/01/2025 22:20

@Randomusername37258 same - I was so disappointed when a cashmere jumper I got from The White Company in September bobbled badly after two wears. I'll never buy again from there.

I've just bought this from Celtic to replace an absolutely identical one which I've worn out (I've worn it A LOT, it aged well) and I love it - their geelong wool is lovely, very warm and extremely soft, and wears well:

I particularly liked this one as it is longer, and I don't like jumpers riding up and have quite a long body although I'm not particularly tall. They do other geelong jumpers, too.

Supersoft V Jumper

The deep V neckline adds a feminine nod while lending itself to the layering trend: try it over stripes to inject a nautical vibe. Then just add your go-to jeans and toastiest boots and you're good to go. Sun's out? Pull on trusty denim cutoffs and let...

Sheep.inc. 🐏🐑 I’m a little bit obsessed with the AI and blockchain on this website but the knits are pretty good too. sheepinc.com/

This thread just cost me money! A Celtic and Co jumper in the sale.

MeandEmLover · 12/01/2025 00:05

WHY did i open this thread?

Now I can't live without the Genevive Maud Cashmere in Plum with my initials hand embroidered above the cuff 😭

Sorry if that was me! But I also got it in the sale, and as I loved its older brother (now sadly retired) I'm very chuffed.

I bought a fabulous wool jumper in Ireland. I’m very petite so managed to get an extra small made up which is also shorter than normal. Toasty warm! I can’t recall the name of the supplier but can post back once one of their emails comes in! They do ship worldwide. Cost was around 150 euros I think. What style are you after?

dreamingofpalms · 12/01/2025 07:26

I don't know how much of an upgrade you're after - but Pringle are my favourite. I've bought mine from the outlet shop in Hawick for years, but here's the online shop and there's a sale

I love Toast but don't think their knitwear is in the same category as some of the brands mentioned up thread. The best I came across was &daughter geelong jumper. Unfortunately it was too large so it went back but the quality was so good I even made a point about it on the returns label!

Erm ... what's that got to do with jumpers
?

Bluelagoondrmr · 12/01/2025 08:46

To get us back to jumpers.... just to say this has been a great thread to read. Feeling inspired!

Lentilweaver · 12/01/2025 08:53

I am feeling inspired but so many of tje expensive jumpers seem to bobble and stretch just as much as the other ones?

I bought a Community Clothing jumper after numerous MN reccos and am happy with it, but not washed yet. I know, not as luxury as many on this thread, but it's an upgrade for me!

The only two jumpers I’ve bought that haven’t bobbled are from NavyGrey and Finisterre.

All the others have - even Toast, at their prices!

Lentilweaver · 12/01/2025 09:05

I am just going to buy that Philips debobbler. Strangely some of my really basic lambswool jumpers from Uniqlo have not bobbled.

I really like the Finisterre ones.

Start a new thread @ForRealShaker.

I am petite, so cropped/short length actually works best for me

I have some lovely cropped Alpaca jumpers from Everlane

Howmanyroses · 12/01/2025 11:26

This looks very good, but I think I am looking for a somewhat different style. I do have another jumper from Community Clothing which I would consider a very good reliable basic
