I like both. My instinct is that the Whistles ones have a bit more chunkiness and now fashion cred, but the Hobbs ones might have more longevity precisely because they are a bit less overtly of the moment.

Love these. I have several pairs of Ecco boots; they're always very comfortable.

I prefer the slimmer leg on the Whistles' boots but the actual foot part on the Hobbs' boots. If you were planning to wear them with skirts I'd have said Whistles, but you're not so my vote is Hobbs.

They don't look anything like DMs. They're just combat boots. DMs don't have a monopoly on the style.

Personally I dislike the stitching on DMs, as well as the roundness of the toe and how it's angled up. I also dislike the stiffness and finish of the leather.

@Jaehee , I like the 'DM' boots as it's a classic style but they are a fashion brand these days. There are prettier boots.

Exactly. I don't hate DMs or anything, but they have some distinctive style details that I'm not particularly into. And not all black combat boots are DMs just because DM make black combat boots (in their particular way).

I think I must bite the bullet and order both. And then post a photo. There is something about the Hobbs boots, I don't know what. I never normally buy that brand but they compelled my attention when I saw them (on wearsmymoney). I'll be able to walk miles in any flat black boot that fits me, that doesn't worry me.
