What dress are you wearing for Christmas dinner?

I know there's are loads of threads on 'find me a dress for xyz' but I would love to hear what the ladies of S&B will be wearing for their Christmas dinner.

We walk to ours so for the last few years I've favoured trousers and a top and boots and wrap wool coat but I fancy a midi with long sleeves this year, and silk base layers because the hall is bloomin freezing . Just starting to look but id love to know what you've gone for.

Full styling details if you're willing; shoes, tights, jewellery, hairstyle?

Trying not to be smug, but sorry, I can't help it - I'm so happy and excited.....

Will be wearing a sundress, or shorts and T shirt. I will not be celebrating Christmas at anyone's house nor will I be in the UK. No dress code where I'm going! Bliss.

BangFlash · 07/11/2024 21:53

That does sound exciting, imagine sun in December!

I hope you really enjoy yourself!!

but I spent many Christmases in a sunny climate and for me it just felt SO wrong, no atmosphere, just another sunny day.

@BangFlash if I had the confidence, in a bikini! I'll be at my friends house and they have the windows closed and the heating on and I melt! In shorts & t-shirt. 🥵

I’m wearing a pair of silk velvet wide legged cropped trousers from Poetry and a cashmere sweater from Brora. Suede boots and pearl jewellery. Will be travelling by car so a short wool coat.

Me too @Havalona can’t wait. Bathing suit for the first part of the day’s proceedings and then maybe a sundress or shorts. It’ll be my first Christmas home for around 25 years.

@PassTheWineAndCrispsPlease

That looks lovely!! The sequins would drive me mad but it's really nice.

I have a velvet t-shirt dress from next that about 5 years ago. It's this one and it's much nicer in real life

That is a lovely colour. Very Christmas but not novelty!

Someone pointed to that jacket on another thread and I laughed when I first saw it (looks just like something dd had when she was 2) but actually it looks lovely. I think I'm to old for the bows but it's made me consider some sort of jacket to go with my still-to-find dress.

That sounds so luxurious.

I ordered that earlier tonight. Hope it’s nice on, I’m thinking of wearing it to my works night out with black trousers, gold heels and gold clutch bag.

@BangFlash you’re never too old for some sparkly and bows. I’m 48 and ordered it. Hopefully I like it on. I’m not really a dress person.

loropianalover · 07/11/2024 23:59

Love seeing all the nice bits you’ll be wearing!

We don’t dress up for Xmas dinner so I’ll be in my Skims pants, a plain tshirt and slippers! Can’t wait.

Floranan · 08/11/2024 00:04

I’ll be cooking so I will do what I do most years, a comfy pair of trousers or decent jeans with a Christmas t shirt, then just as hubby / daughter carry the food through I nip to the bedroom run the brush over my hair touch up my lips and change into a nice top. I’m still comfy but fresh and a little more dressed up.

anyone wanted to have a quick 5 minute change, I bought a heated table top warmer, it’s a life saver and just gives me those few minutes

Silvertulips · 08/11/2024 00:07

Ermmmm getting dress in our house is optional!

I don’t even look at the Christmas clothes.

It’s not even financial. It’s just never been any different.

Particularlyconceteved · 08/11/2024 00:10

Oh I love wearing a nice dress on Christmas Day, it's special! Not the beach for me though, did it once and was utterly miserable, it's just not right

2chocolateoranges · 08/11/2024 00:10

Meant to add, we don’t dress up on Christmas Day, we spend it at home and my mum visits. I make an effort when we visit friends for drinks over the festive period but not on actual Christmas Day,

I’m in dresses all year so I’m the opposite 🤣 get so excited for my new comfy sets on Xmas.

Tarkan · 08/11/2024 00:17

I'm hoping for the dress that Dawn French is wearing in the M&S ad but of course it's sold out in my size (and the one down as I'm between two at times in M&S so I would take the risk). I've got it set up for email reminders but I'm checking constantly too. DD is off to Glasgow on Saturday so I might ask her to look for me there.

If not I have some black velour trousers (nicer than they sound I swear) and a satiny M&S blouse I treated myself to recently so I do have a nice back up plan at least.

DancingNotDrowning · 08/11/2024 00:32

This Massimo Dutti dress. Not with flip flops

I've always worn my gorgeous Oasis black with gold thread shift dress until a couple of years ago when it seemed to have <ahem> shrunk in my wardrobe. Last month I was having a charity shop peruse and there it was in the next size up! The volunteer told me when I went to pay that it had only come in that morning. It was meant to be.

EconomyClassRockstar · 08/11/2024 01:10

People really know what they're going to wear for Xmas Day on November 7th?! My mind is officially blown! I haven't even started doing winter shopping yet because it's too bloody hot here!

TianasBayou · 08/11/2024 01:23

Casual here - favourite wide leg indigo jeans and my sequinned Christmas jumper probably. With Uggs and duffle coat for a blustery beach walk, and obligatory deep red metallic nail polish.
