What dress are you wearing for Christmas dinner?

I know there's are loads of threads on 'find me a dress for xyz' but I would love to hear what the ladies of S&B will be wearing for their Christmas dinner.

We walk to ours so for the last few years I've favoured trousers and a top and boots and wrap wool coat but I fancy a midi with long sleeves this year, and silk base layers because the hall is bloomin freezing . Just starting to look but id love to know what you've gone for.

Full styling details if you're willing; shoes, tights, jewellery, hairstyle?

I'm wearing this with gold sandles and bangles. Will wear my hair up with gold dangly earrings. Have requested some Chelsea peers pyjamas from my OH so hopefully will be home and in them by 8pm 😅.

My sister in law will wear a disaproving look on her face

That's quite a popular look actually in lots of houses on Christmas afternoon.

@Parker231 those kitty PJs are fab! Where are they from please?

TunipTheVegimal24 · 09/11/2024 07:54

Pyjamas here too, but fancy pyjamas. Got a few satin pairs from Their Nibs which I adore. Will pair with a bra on underneath and make-up, so comfy but still nice.

I got them last year from Anthropologie in Toronto but think they were available online.

Probably a gnome Lady V Lyra. I haven't bought a new one this year as haven't seen one I like

We have a family PJ competition for Christmas Day - three generations and taken very seriously with scoring sheets devised by my BIL. Will be about 20 of us. Last year I bought these so need to start looking for this years pair.

OMG, they are brilliant

ProvincialLady24 · 09/11/2024 10:18

I'll be wearing a forced smile as my mil will be here.

Hedjwitch · 09/11/2024 10:23

God knows. Whatever is clean and comfy. If we weren't having an additional non- family guest coming, I would spend the day in bed grieving for my mum.

Oh I am sorry, last year was the first Xmas without my Mum and it was very odd.
I spent it with DH and the DC and didn't really want to see anyone else.
A good friend gave me some great advice when she lost her brother in their 30's, on any significant days she used to do something she thought he would have loved - so on the Mothers Day a few months after she died I went and visited one of her favourite places for example.
I hope you manage to find some peace x

Waiting to hear what the theme is for this year so I can start looking!

Attelina · 09/11/2024 10:58

I like a nod to the 1950s at Christmas.

I may change my mind but at the moment I've got a vintage pale blue tweed pencil skirt and a pale blue cashmere twin set and the cardigan has mother of pearl buttons. It's a very simple but classic outfit for indoors.

I will have to don my all weather gear when we take the dogs out and a large group of us go out for a long walk.

Sorry wrong thread!

Shakatak · 09/11/2024 11:55

I think people dressing up for a meal on Christmas Day is a bit naff

Anothernamechane · 09/11/2024 12:08

First year of Xmas at home with just me and my daughter. Our choice- we normally go to family. We'll be in matching onesies

Why don’t you keep your opinion to yourself on this particular thread?

Vettrianofan · 09/11/2024 12:46

PJs and dressing gown 😊

This Massimo Dutti dress. Not with flip flops

Well, wear a smile when you're at it unlike that model 😂

Why?

drhf · 09/11/2024 13:38

A green velvet mini dress from & Other Stories. It's a few years old now, but Christmas is the perfect time for it! I'll wear it with black boots - and plenty of thermals underneath.

What dress are you wearing for Christmas dinner?
Shakatak · 09/11/2024 13:39

Unless you’re in downton abbey, sitting at your dining table in taffeta and slippers is just weird

minipie · 09/11/2024 13:45

Hadn’t thought about it but probably this skirt which is smart but with an elasticated waist. Win win.

With a cashmere jumper and some kind of silky t shirt under. Slippers as I won’t be leaving the house.
