What dress are you wearing for Christmas dinner?

I know there's are loads of threads on 'find me a dress for xyz' but I would love to hear what the ladies of S&B will be wearing for their Christmas dinner.

We walk to ours so for the last few years I've favoured trousers and a top and boots and wrap wool coat but I fancy a midi with long sleeves this year, and silk base layers because the hall is bloomin freezing . Just starting to look but id love to know what you've gone for.

Full styling details if you're willing; shoes, tights, jewellery, hairstyle?

Probably wide leg jeans and a cashmere jumper. I bought this it month which feels a nice, festive colour: www.jigsaw-online.com/products/cloud-cashmere-eldon-jumper-red

I do quite fancy a swishy silk or satin skirt and have my eyes on a khaki silk skirt but that very much depends on the pre Christmas finances.

Rocknrollstar · 08/11/2024 07:09

Christmas t-shirt and leggings. Ugg boots for walk on the prom.

henlake7 · 08/11/2024 10:28

Comfort over style for me so probably a pair of thermal leggings and a nice christmassy jumper dress.

Sandwichgen · 08/11/2024 10:35

Im not cooking this year so will probably dress up a bit.

thinking sequin midi (really almost maxi) in a column shape with a cashmere polo on top.

zara has a skirt like this in a choc brown with a slight hint of burgundy in it

My Mum is having surgery and won't be up to cooking or travelling, and my Dad doesn't cook, so I'm doing dinner at their house.

I'll be wearing whatever outfit I can find in the wardrobe that looks vaguely presentable and try not to get too much food on it whilst cooking.

Chipsahoy · 08/11/2024 15:43

I always get dressed up even though we stay home. I think my black sequin skirt and a black soft knit top. Or my red corduroy pencil skirt and a black top.

We have a family PJ competition for Christmas Day - three generations and taken very seriously with scoring sheets devised by my BIL. Will be about 20 of us. Last year I bought these so need to start looking for this years pair.

I have a pewter metallic long sleeved and v neck dress which I’ll wear with a black cami under it (done this before with this dress and fine) and either silver metallic cowboy ankle boots or silver sparkly court high heels. Or maybe just nice black trousers and a sparkly top.

Doggymummar · 08/11/2024 17:32

Christmas Day is all about pajamas in our house. I gave red tartan Christmas Eve ones I wear on Christmas Day.

People really know what they're going to wear for Xmas Day on November 7th?! My mind is officially blown! I haven't even started doing winter shopping yet because it's too bloody hot here!

I have a Christmas sweatshirt and two Christmas sweater dresses so it will be one of these.

No shopping required!

Hoppinggreen · 08/11/2024 17:47

I am eyeing up a green velvet dress from Discokids.
Looks comfy
I will wear some sparkly tights and black heeled boots that I will take off when we get to SIL house, also I have some classy (ish) xmas tree earrings i will be wearing.
I will probably have to take dog walking gear too though

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 08/11/2024 17:52

No idea! It's always just normal smartish casual for us. Nothing fancy, but definitely not pyjamas or leggings and a t-shirt. I have a nice navy textured-knit wool dress (thin wool, so not too hot!) - I might wear that.

I ordered that earlier tonight. Hope it’s nice on, I’m thinking of wearing it to my works night out with black trousers, gold heels and gold clutch bag.

@BangFlash you’re never too old for some sparkly and bows. I’m 48 and ordered it. Hopefully I like it on. I’m not really a dress person.

Edited

I've just taken delivery of a very similar one from Mint Velvet, high neck though. Has the sequins though and the two back bows, obviously a thing this Christmas.

Tomatocutwithazigzagedge · 08/11/2024 18:19

I've bought that one in both black and burgundy. I couldn't decide which one to pick and I love them both!

I'll dress the black one down slightly with a bardot style fluffy black jumper, and chunky military style patent boots from Ravel, and wear with my leather biker for a few Christmas events coming up. I have the Arden jewellery from Fossil to wear with it..

www.fossil.com/en-gb/search/?q=Arden&lang=en_GB

Then the burgundy one with a short black jumper for Christmas evening, NYE etc.

I love this 🤣 we are moving to our “forever home” in 2025 all going to plan so next Christmas will hopefully be our first hosting! And I might just have to copy this idea

BangFlash · 08/11/2024 18:30

So many people in PJs, I never buy really nice ones but this seems a good excuse!

I ordered a navy velvet dress from Next today. Knee length long sleeves with kind of lace details. No sure on shoes yet

BangFlash · 08/11/2024 18:31

I went IRL browsing when I had an hour to kill today. I'm not impressed at what's in the shops but online looks much better.

A black top and leggings with sparkly mules as I'm the cook for the day.

B by Ted Baker have some lovely ones, you can buy on Next.

I got these last week. I have a few weekends away where I'm sharing a room, and also for Christmas eve/Morning. They are absolutely gorgeous.

Ermmmm getting dress in our house is optional!

I don’t even look at the Christmas clothes.

It’s not even financial. It’s just never been any different.

Um I'm quite literal minded and I seem to have taken this in a way others haven't.

Getting dressed is option.

Nudists Xmas dinner??

😂

I'm imagining them round the table taking the picture for next year's Christmas cards.

I love the casual "it's just never been any different" as if not wearing clothes was completely the norm.

Id be nervous about spilling gravy. Or anything really. And I'm not sure my relatives are hwo I'd choose if I was going to have a meal in the nuddy...

I've been thinking about this too much now 😂

StampOnTheGround · 08/11/2024 18:52

Another one who will be in Christmas pyjamas 😍
