What dress are you wearing for Christmas dinner?

I know there's are loads of threads on 'find me a dress for xyz' but I would love to hear what the ladies of S&B will be wearing for their Christmas dinner.

We walk to ours so for the last few years I've favoured trousers and a top and boots and wrap wool coat but I fancy a midi with long sleeves this year, and silk base layers because the hall is bloomin freezing . Just starting to look but id love to know what you've gone for.

Full styling details if you're willing; shoes, tights, jewellery, hairstyle?

😂

I'm imagining them round the table taking the picture for next year's Christmas cards.

But all with the Christmas cracker paper hats on!

This Christmas we've booked dinner at a local restaurant. I'm planning to wear the Joe Brown maxi dress that I bought last year and havent worn yet, its called the Glorious Golden Leaves dress

Do people really actually get dressed up to eat a roast dinner? 🤣🤣
No different to every Sunday dinner 🤣

Wide leg velvet trousers with elasticated waist that I've had a couple of years and this gold sparkly top. Fortunately DH does the cooking but I will be in driving duty collecting and dropping off elderly MIL

I've just ordered these cord jeggings

https://www.marksandspencer.com/cord-high-waisted-jeggings/p/clp60682521?intid=mobileappppdpshare

That I'll wear with a gold sparkly top I bought from Mint Velvet last year but ended up having covid.

I'll probably add a conker Boden cashmere cardigan and Sézane loafers but will decide on the day.

We don't do Sunday roast, couldn't actually tell you the last time we had a roast dinner and Christmas is always something more special than that for us anyway. We have a massive get together with family and yes, we all dress up. It makes the day feel even more special. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We don’t have a roast on Christmas Day - no one likes it. We have about 20 family members and have a cold buffet. Easy to prepare - no one gets stuck in the kitchen and everyone helps clear up.

Thank you! I hadn't even thought of it as 90s. This makes me like it even more ❤️

I'm pretty sure it is going to be this 20 quid green velvet short dress from Asda. Was pleased with it, nice and comfy! I wore it for a meal out this week for my 40th and put it to the stretch test. It passed!
I've also got a primark novelty Christmas dress if I decide to go full on cheesy! Who knows!

I currently have a Boden addiction and bought this jacket for the festive season. Also thinking about getting this dress and shoes but not sure yet

I don't care but it will be a size lower than I was 4 weeks ago - twirl
Might even be 2 sizes lower by the time Xmas comes around so I'm going to wait until the last minute to buy something.

Walkley18 · 08/11/2024 22:05

Crushed velvet midi red dress with small sleeves which I found at a vintage stall. Thrilled as love red (and perfect shade for me), covers top arms and won't need to wear tights which, as I'm hosting, I don't want to do. Our family usually desses up to some degree on Christmas day, makes it special, but blended with some comfort. This fits the bill perfectly!

MrsWidgerysLodger · 08/11/2024 22:08

I bought a gorgeous knitted dress from Sainsbury's last year. Bottle green with a bit of a shimmer but not ott. Midi length knit material with a drapey slash neck. It's ridiculously comfortable and it seems to flatter.my shape quite well. Wore is last Xmas with black suede boots and will probably do the same again.

Fuckthecamelyourodeinon · 08/11/2024 22:33

I don't know what I'm wearing tomorrow. Unlikely to be sequins or velvet....

Nope but I get dressed to have fondue in the evening with 8 people.

MemphisBluesAgain · 08/11/2024 22:37

Silver velvet long-sleeved midi, purchased for £15 from Vinted

Plus tights and some lippy. I never really understand why people want to wear tracksuit bottoms at Christmas, it's a special day!

I have a velvet t-shirt dress from next that about 5 years ago. It's this one and it's much nicer in real life

Ooh I have something v similar! I wear it with gold flats and fancy gold hammered earrings and necklace if I can be bothered :)

TheTigerWhoCameToEatMyArsehole · 08/11/2024 22:41

We have a family PJ competition for Christmas Day - three generations and taken very seriously with scoring sheets devised by my BIL. Will be about 20 of us. Last year I bought these so need to start looking for this years pair.

Love these pjs

RabbitsRock · 08/11/2024 22:51

I didn’t dress up last year but I’ve lost 3 stone so feel like making an effort, even if it’s probably only going to be me & DH. I have a teal velvet patterned dress that I bought for a wedding which never happened so might wear that on Christmas Day. Think it was from Monsoon.

Anicecumberlandsausage · 08/11/2024 22:53

Going to my brother's house. I'll probably wear a festive jumper & jeans. My neice will probably attend the dinner in pyjamas. My parents will wear whatever they normally wear. My sister in law will wear a disaproving look on her face. 🤣
