Thank you @Experiment627 this thread has helped my resolve to use 100 products up this year!
On that 79/100

Nivea blue lip balm - love it, wouldn't be without it.
Setting spray - I liked the rose water scent, happily use again but have another brand waiting in the wings.

Some more bits from me too:

Sashajuan hair cream - lovely scent but didn’t seem to do much.

Sebastian hydrate hair mask - made a big difference, will buy again when other masks are finished.

Dr Jart pore remedy - bought a whole beauty box just for this. A bit meh. Watery and slightly sticky.

Sol de Janeiro cream - scent lasts for ages. Have a few more.

Soap and Glory scrub - nice! Generally like everything from this brand.

Thank you for the shiny new thread @Experiment627

Hello folks, I have been lurking for ages and would like to join in. I have a spreadsheet! I’ve just finished a 30ml Aurelia Cell Repair Night Oil. My post menopausal skin loves it, however I have another one in the stash and want to move on the Votary Night Star Serum to see how I get on with it.

@Fraaahnces @paristotoyoko – I love Rice Toner. I’m sure someone on here recommended HaruWonder and I bought a small container of Amazon. My skin is drinking it up!

CorneliaStreet · 23/10/2024 17:20

Thanks for the new thread @Experiment627.

Hi @Tarragon123, I’m impressed you have a spreadsheet! I love the Haruharu rice toner, it feels so lovely.

BlueLimeRun · 23/10/2024 17:27

Thanks for the new thread @Experiment627

@Tarragon123 I love the votary products too. And welcome - love a spreadsheet!

stanleypops66 · 23/10/2024 17:42

I've been nicking my teenage DD's glow recipe toner and I've noticed a real difference. Now I need to buy her a new bottle!

CorneliaStreet · 23/10/2024 18:21

@stanleypops66 Is that the Watermelon one? I’m using it at the moment, it’s lovely. The bottle is really pretty too.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 23/10/2024 21:56

@Experiment627 Thanks for the new thread!

Am posting a few body splashes that we managed to finish over a 3 year period. The amounts are massive, hence why it took me so long.

What I can’t explain is why I held onto them for so long after we used them up.

Regarding the Glow Recipe toner... somehow I find it a bit slimy. I really liked their Dew Drops Serum, so thought I would like the toner, but no.

I've been doing really well not buying things I don't need. I got a Biossance face and eye cream mini set as either gift or bonus points thing at Sephora. The face cream is thick, but I can't be bothered doing two different creams on my face and eye area. For the price, I'll stick to my L'Oreal Rosy Tone Day cream.

For a travel weekend I used a few different foil package samples into a contact lens case. I had a few L'occitane samples. Again I liked them but wouldn't re-purchase for the price.

MorrisZapp · 23/10/2024 23:23

Sachajuan! I've had a few bits from them, smell divine, do literally fuck all. Hard pass next time.

I'm liking the Living Proof Restore shampoo and conditioner.

Too much Bum Bum to mention, and a few cheapies too. The viral fragrance that will not die! Some Brazilian somewhere never needs to work again.

MorrisZapp · 23/10/2024 23:26

Love Sebastian, will check that mask out.

Experiment627 · 24/10/2024 02:52

Welcome new and not-first timers!!!

@ITookYourJoob may I be so bold as to ask what type of hair you have... am wondering if the Sebastian product would be good for me to try.

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel impressive colonia usage! I sprayed myself yesterday with some stuff I got about 3 years ago in Denia - still full on and lovely!

Speaking of rice toners I saw a TT the other day where someone was making it at home - actually looked really easy to do... maybe I will try.

@Experiment627 I think we have polar opposite hair types😅 My hair is quite dry both at the roots and ends. Roots rarely get oily, ends remain dry even with very heavy oils. I do colour the roots regularly though, so that’s where the damage is from I’m sure.

Experiment627 · 24/10/2024 07:35

@ITookYourJoob yes!! Very different! I dye my roots regularly too but they still remain vair greasy.

I’m taking a bottle of the Glow Recipe Toner Mist when I go into hospital. It’s absolutely not my go to formula, but I love the scent, and I find it refreshing without being drying. I just wish I could refill it.

clary · 24/10/2024 10:27

oooooh new thread thanks @Experiment627

@Tarragon123 I love that Aurelia cell repair oil too (see pic) and @stanleypops66 I have enjoyed the watermelon toner. Must RP.

Anyway some more empties from me - calculate this takes me to 106 for the year so far!

  • Oh sadness – and yet joy – I have finally actually finished a lipstick! The sadness is bc it was the Victoria Beckham one in BCB AC some years ago – Pout – I loved it
  • Aurelia cell repair - HG and already RP through a great offer
  • Davines champoo - liked this a lot – good in my swim bag
  • Chr Robin shampoo - liked this less
  • REN eye cream - wow I also finished an eye cream! I think this one is really good actually
  • Mascara was Benefit Bag Gal Bang – sorry to say I didn't rate this as it smudged really badly and left me with panda eyes by the end of the day A colleague uses it and her lashes look amazing!
  • other items used up in various ways from my stash. Blusher brush I don't want so offering it at work

Not bad – getting ready for Advent season – actually my stash is hugely reduced, so much so that I needed to BUY a cleanser and am almost out of day cream as well. This however is largely bc I have put a ton of yummy stashiness in an empty F&M AC to bulk out my December joy :)

Just popping on to say m and s advent available.

I’ve changed username slightly.

Fraaahnces · 24/10/2024 11:28

Ooh - forgot to say thanks for the new thread @Experiment627. This one is behaving itself, too. I think my phone simply doesn’t like the very, very long ones.

AguaLavanda · 24/10/2024 11:42

Long time lurker too so thanks for the thread @Experiment627. Badly needed as I've got so much stuff already and have just bought the M&S AC. I'm another person who takes recommendations from this thread (especially HGs).

I like the idea of a spreadsheet. Not just for counting how much comes in vs goes out but to actually document what I currently have, the effects of different products and if they are worth buying again.

OvaHere · 24/10/2024 11:51

I think I should join this thread after discovering beauty advents, boxes and k beauty this year.

I've barely used anything up yet this month but this is what I have finished.

SDJ Bum Bum cream 25g - Still have a medium and a large of these to go at so not exactly an impressive empty. I do like it and it's something I might purchase if on offer but it's so ubiquitous in Adevent Calendars, boxes and GWP I might not need to.

Glow Recipe Avocado Cleanser mini 20ml - I bought the GR minis set to try out this and the watermelon toner. I loved this and repurchased a full size, it's good for dry skin as I hoped it would be. Not finished the other minis yet.

Beauty Pie Plantastic Apricot balm cleanser - not really an empty but had to pass on to a friend as it irritated my skin badly (rosacea).

Kerastase Discipline Shampoo and Conditioner - again not an empty but it didn't suit my hair at all so I tried it twice then passed on to DD.

A couple of sample sachets of Dior Prestige face cream. It felt nice but at £350 for 50ml it won't be purchased.

Sample sachet of Tatcha Dewy Cream. I do really like this and plan to try it longer term.

Sample sachet of Tatcha silk sunscreen. Wasn't a fan of this as I felt it pilled under make up. Was a one use sample so maybe not a fair test but not in a rush to purchase.

OvaHere · 24/10/2024 12:01

Just remembered one more. A Rituals hand soap, can't remember the scent but possibly a discontinued one as I bought this and the hand balm at the outlet earlier this year. The hand balm will still be going for a while. Always happy to re-buy Rituals soap but usually try to buy at the outlet. I have the Rituals AC and I think there will be a hand soap in that.

This is a good idea. Some products take ages to finish even with a solid attempt. It does me good to remember this when I'm tempted. Hand creams seem to take forever. I have one on my desk whilst I'm working and have been diligently applying several times a day for what seems like months now. If I keep going it might be empty by Christmas.

CorneliaStreet · 24/10/2024 13:25

I can get through hand cream pretty fast as I have stupidly dry hands. Also get through lip balm as I’m an addict. After that, the easiest things are probably body lotion, shampoo & conditioner and face moisturiser as I use that on my neck and upper chest too.

Shower gel takes longer than I think and it’s my favourite thing to buy so I end up with loads. Ditto face cleansers.

The things that seem to take forever are serums. Also random face stuff like masks and exfoliating toners etc, mainly because I hardly ever actually bother to use them.

Worst of all is make up. I bought a replacement for my favourite concealer literally months ago but decided to finish the old one properly and dig the remaining product out of the component with a brush. It’s still going strong, probably got at least two or three months worth left, so will be a total of about a year since I bought the replacement!

Tarragon123 · 24/10/2024 15:56

My spreadsheet serves several purposes. I now have information at my fingertips about how many eye serums, moisturisers etc that I have and absolutely do not need to buy more. I also like to see how long it takes for me to use various different products. I travel quite a lot and I never get it quite right with what I need to take for a couple of nights or two weeks! So I’ve started to make notes eg neck gel, 5ml, used day and night, 13 uses in total. I’m really bad at remembering how I felt about products, so it’s a useful tool for me.

Its also helpful to keep track of gifting. I used to be terrible for grabbing some stuff and then chucking it in a gift bag. I gave my niece £146 of lovely products for her birthday 🙈Normally I’d spent about £30, eek. I’m also thinking about Christmas. I’m thinking about what I can give away from my stash. Also, stuff that I am definitely not going to use and would be a bit random to give as gifts, I can give to Womens Aid.

I have a finished product. Emma Hardie Protect & Prime SPF 15 15ml. I would happily buy again. It’s a lovely texture, absorbs well. I prefer Emma Hardie Midas Touch, but as I have at least 10 full size moisturisers and 10 minis, so no need for any purchases any time soon.
