I have an empty to report:

  • Moschino Toy 2 Pearl eau de parfum 5ml: was ok but nothing I would buy. I feel there is a gap in my life as my Ride or Die perfume Stella by Stella McCartney is no more. Hopefully, one day I either find a dupe or another scent I fall in love with.

@Experiment627 – I subscribe to a monthly Beauty Box called Time of Your Life. It oftens has Temple Spa products. I do have someone local who sells, but its usually full price or there is a small reduction. One of my pals is a big fan as well and she tends to buy me something for my birthday.

@AguaLavanda – that’s good to know. I have sooooo many moisturisers I probably wouldn’t have bought another one, but as it’s a dupe for one of my favourite La Roche Posay ones, I cant make any promises lol. Plus the Lacura La Soie Serum is gorgeous and is working so beautifully for me.

@LilyJessie – yes, I’m waiting on a Scentsy delivery today. I think I’ve got a hand wash and some melts coming. Very excited about my Advent Calendar lol.

I have got rid of the Votary Star Serum (rrp £140). I found it far too drying for my skin, so I have donated it to one of my younger pals who will hopefully be able to tolerate it.

I have a quiet weekend planned and hope to use up some of my face masks/eye masks/hand masks. I have too many!

Eeek! My TOYL box (£39.99) has just arrived and I forgot it has the TS Neck Cream in it this month. I'm sorry, thats not helpful. We are supposed to be cutting down!! xx

Fraaahnces · 31/10/2024 22:38

Another couple of empties…

Rituel de Fille Eye Soot in Half Light. The most stunning satin, one and done taupe ever. I don’t need another one, but it will be missed. I had it for YEARS. This formular works. The eye gloss, not so much…

The next one was the remainder of the Rohto Mentholatum (Hada Labo) Gokujyun Alpha Anti-Aging Lift Cream
This stuff is great. Gentle, effective, beginner-strength retinol. Perfect for sensitive areas like neck and décolleté. Lovely gel-cream texture. Never sticky or heavy. The packaging is boring, but so what? I have sterilised and kept fancy packaging and can swap it out if necessary. When I get to the bottom of my stash, I would consider repurchasing this.

Enjoy your box @Tarragon123!

I have an empty to report (sorry if I have already reported this!):

  • Sali Hughes X Revolution skincare Better in 5 express exfoliating face mask: only thing not keen on here is the smell (slightly vinegary/snotty). But great at keeping dead skin cells off.

86/100

L'occitane bath cube - herbal cleaner scent, I'm not keen on pine in bath products as it always reminds me of the industrial loo cleaner I used at a job. These retail at £3.50 each which is mind boggling. This one was a hotel complimentary product that came home with me.

Neom pillow spray - I actually bought pillow spray and have another lined up to replace it. Lovely but I'll go less expensive next time I buy.

Chantecaille luminous fluid - gorgeous, tricky to get out of tiny sample bottle as too viscous for the pipette but fabulous on the skin.

Malin Goetz cilantro conditioner- no better or worse than many others. Wouldn't seek it out.

giving you an EXTRA discount at YesStyle.com! Shop using my Rewards Code: LZSB2S www.yesstyle.com/en/botanist-botanical-shampoo-scalp-cleanse/info.html/pid.1127196832?rco=LZSB2S&utm_term=LZSB2S&utm_medium=LinkShare&mcg=influencer Botanist ShampooAnother empty… Botanist Scalp Cleanse Shampoo. An impulse buy in a Japanese supermarket when I was desperately waiting for a Stylevana delivery. (Like waiting for Godot…). I would never have normally considered anything labeled “scalp cleanse” for fear of nuking my terrible hair. (We have dreadfully hard, chlorine-treated water and I have toddler-fine hair that will not behave… ever.) Anyhow, apart from being aesthetically pleasing in the most beautifully minimalistic way, this is “lime and leaf green” scented and utterly delicious. It is also more gentle than any baby shampoo I have ever used and made me realise that the shampoo I had been eagerly waiting for was actually waaaaaaay too heavy. (Lucky DD2) Now of course I am halfway through the conditioner and need another shampoo. That never happens, btw… normally it’s the other way around! My hair is very, very soft and flowy!

BTW, Japanese supermarket was MUCH cheaper than YesStyle

Fraaahnces · 03/11/2024 13:36

God, I hate it when you share a link and then it comes up with an ad like above… Please ignore. Buy it anywhere BUT there, ffs…. god knows I did.

wheresmyshoe · 03/11/2024 14:09

Great recommendation thank you @Fraaahnces as I have the same challenging water/hair combo as you.

CorneliaStreet · 03/11/2024 17:42

That shampoo sounds lovely. I’ve got the fine hair and hard water combo too.

Some more empties:

Lush Ultraplant cleanser - 10ml. Didn’t get on with this at all. Didn’t get mascara off properly, it was hard to wash off and I didn’t like the scent.

Dr Jart Cicapair foaming cleanser - 30ml. Really nice. I thought it might be a bit stripping as it’s foaming, but it wasn’t at all.

La Roche- Posay Redermic retinol - 5ml. I’m a bit scared of retinol but this didn’t cause any issues. No idea if it’s actually doing anything yet, but I’ve started on another of these little tubes and then I’ve got various other retinol serums to try, so I’ll keep going with it.

Mario Badescu caffeine eye cream - 14g. Didn’t like this, it stung really badly if it got in my eyes so had to be very careful putting it on.

Avant Vivifying night cream - 50ml. This was pretty good, quite lightweight for a night cream but still moisturising. After finishing this I started a night cream by Flanerie which looks, feels and smells exactly the same. I looked them both up online and they have the same ingredients and the two brands have the same street address in the UK. So maybe packaging up the same cream with different names and alleged price points to flog via beauty boxes?

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit sunscreen - 50ml. This felt really lovely to apply. It’s very moisturising, to the point that it was a bit heavy for my normal/combo skin. Think it would be amazing for anyone with dry skin, or maybe better for me in colder weather.

Pixi Large Lash mascara - loved this mascara, didn’t want it to end. Went on evenly, didn’t flake or smudge and had a nice soft brush wand so I didn’t keep jabbing myself in the eye.

Le Petit Marseillais honey shower gel - 250ml. The shower gels from this brand are great - feel lovely on the skin and smell gorgeous.

Sukin lime & coconut body wash - 500ml. I’ve got a ton of shower gel and this lathered a lot so I mainly used it as bubble bath. Smells great (more lime than coconut).

Organic Shop pumpkin spice latte body scrub - 250ml. Ok, but I prefer Tree Hut or Soap & Glory scrubs.

Organic Shop almond and honey body mousse - 450ml. The body lotions from this brand are much better than the scrubs or shower gels. Really good, fast absorbing formula and some lovely scents (if you like gourmand).

OvaHere · 03/11/2024 22:24

@CorneliaStreet I've got a mini of the Dr Jart cleanser to try. I wondered the same as you so good to know it's not drying.

I suspect you are right about Avant and some other brands.

I've also been eyeing up that sunscreen to try. I have dry skin so sounds like it would be a good fit.

MyRabbit79 · 04/11/2024 16:06

More empties!
Herbal essences shampoo - a cheap buy which was fine but nothing exciting
Glossier matte eyeshadow- there's probably some product left in here but it seemed to pass its best and became more creasy and clumpy than before. Not worth the spend
Soap and Glory the Real Zing - smoothing body lotion with a nice fresh smell. Would rebuy
LRP smoothing body lotion - used in conjunction with the above, really moisturising

Oh also, I've just downloaded an app called recycle:me which enables you to send off empty packaging in return for credit with Cult Beauty and/or Look Fantastic. I haven't tried it yet so can't vouch for it but thought it'd be of interest!

Minnie123456 · 05/11/2024 23:29

Few more empties:
Lacura Q10 day cream- I like this though I have to order off Amazon as we don't have an aldi. I will rp, although I might try lidl's version to see if it is similar.
Nature spell rosemary oil- I used this on my scalp to promote hair growth, not sure if it really worked as I wasn't very consistent. I found it made my hair greasy even after double shampooing.
Oribe bright blonde shampoo- This did brighten my hair without drying it out, although it was only a sample size. I do have a bigger bottle to try.
Soothe soft cashmere and tonka handcream- I think this was from Asda. It smelt amazing, unfortunately it did nothing for my hands.
Kiehl's midnight recovery concentrate- this smelt lovely and my skin was really soft. I might rp once I get through my stash. It is a little bit pricey but I think a bigger bottle would last ages.
Votary hyaluronic serum- I think I got this in a beauty box. I really liked it and I noticed a slight difference in my skin. I don't think I will rp as it's very expensive.
Cerave moisturising cream- small sample, I used it on holiday would probably rp to try a bigger size.
Cerave sa smoothing cream- I used this on my face which I probably shouldn't have, it made my face blotchy 🤦‍♀️
Wild deo sample- I loved the smell of this. I used it at night time, I wasn't brave enough to try it out during the day. I wouldn't rp- it went clumpy when applied and I felt I smelt of sweat in the morning.
L'occitane foot cream- smells quite weird, probably wouldn't rp.

Also had to chuck 2 Soap and Glory original hand creams as they had went off

Total 47/100 almost 1/2 way!!

Two dead mascaras - Clio Kill Lash Volume Curling Black. Without a doubt the best mascara I have ever had... It would stay on in a hurricane... Quite possibly a nuclear holocaust. Rather difficult to remove, but worth it.

The other was Romand Han All Fix Mascara Long Ash. I didn't initially like it, but after a couple of weeks, it was great. Also bulletproof, and the colour was amazing for blondes. An ashy, natural, not black, not brown, not grey.... Taupe? Deep enough to be visible, but not weird. Again, an oil/balm remover required. I use one every day anyway, so not an issue.

Now for the sad news. Fenty Body Sauce in Pearl Swirl. This was the second one of these that I finished. Bloody enormous tube. I used it instead of foundation and each tube lasted about 18 months. Even though it was designed for the body and not the face, it gave a natural, even tone, lasted all day, didn't irritate my skin and did not look remotely makeuppy. It was my perfect shade and it's been bloody discontinued. I have purchased the Charlotte Tilbury stick thing and it's not at all the same. Bummer.

Fraaahnces · 06/11/2024 07:21

Do any of you lovelies regularly use skincare devices ie Nuface/Ziip? I’m contemplating purchasing the Medicube Age R Booster Pro…. just wondering if you see much benefit from regular use.

MyRabbit79 · 06/11/2024 21:33

More empties which I've sent off for recycling via the app I mentioned above.

Garnier body lotion. Purchased several times, smells like yoghurt and does have a lasting effect

Nivea night cream. Boring and does the job

White stuff face cream sample. Very old and I can't remember what it was like

Max Factor blusher. I actually scraped out the remainder of this as I realised it wasn't a great colour for me and I was making myself use it up when I didn't like it.

Pai hand cream. A lovely present which smelled really nice and citrusy / bergamotty

I have more empties scattered around the house but I can’t get to them now.

In the picture:

mamia toilet training wipes. Do the job nicely. They don’t break but they have never gone in the toilet, always in bin. Used for freshening up.

Dercos stimulating shampoo. Good size sample for a couple of washes. Not sure about the claims but it was a nice texture and the smell was fine too.

Neutrogena clear and soothe moisturiser. Gel consistency. Great fragrance. It has reminded me of something that I used a while ago. Nice trxture. Might rp.

The Body Shop banana shampoo - smells like banana 😁 otherwise nothing special.
HE cleansing cream - did not like it. Very oily, impossible to wash off.
Glow Recipe face wash- quite nice, but there are better alternatives out there.
Lip oil-didn’t like the applicator.
Soap & glory body wash and cream - both lovely.
Ted Baker body spray - quite nice smelling, but I think it’s more for teens.
Kingfisher toothpaste - loved it!

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 13/11/2024 17:36

I have some empties:

method french lavender habd wash. Really pleasant smell and noce texture. I would RP if I manage to finish whatever I have first

hey duggee 2 in 1 shampooo and conditioner. Terrible stuff . Akin to my archenemy the Mason and miller hotel minis. Would not buy again.

Talking of which… a mason and miller shampoo. Very bad. However, their body lotion is not as bad. I would not say I like it but considering the hate they get from me the body lotion wasn’t that awful

Ritual of sakura body cream. Really nice texture. Not too thick but it absorbs easily and is very fragrant. I would rp

I fell off the last thread a couple of months ago - I haven't bought any beauty products during this time though which is good! Some empties from my hiatus:

Beauty Pie quillaja cleansing melt - I really liked the texture and scent of this, but I didn't think it worked in a pot, to the point it would put me off buying. This was an 'insider product' and I did actually read they are going to add it to their range in a tube, but I've not seen this yet so not sure if that's right. If it comes back in a tube I'd probably buy (depending on price).

Philip Kingsley elasticizer booster - meh, wouldn't buy.

Lee Stafford dry shampoo - this is super old but I liked it so pleased to see it still exists. I'd buy again.

Origins ginzing energising gel cream - quite nice, super fruity. Didn't like it enough to buy but it did the job.

Hotel mini shampoo - always find these terrible and this one didn't disappoint. No idea why I used to always take these home, I stopped a long time ago and thought I'd used all the ones I had stashed but found a few lurking in a cupboard. Should have just chucked but I hate waste more than I like having nice hair apparently.

The Seated Queen cold cream cleanser mask - OK, not really my thing so wouldn't buy (feel like TSQ may have been discontinued anyway?).

Plantastic orange and rosemary body wash - I didn't really want this but the only way you could get the above BP cleanser was to buy as a set with this. This was actually quite nice and I'd happily use again, but I'm equally happy with cheaper options so unlikely to buy.

Sunday Riley luna sleeping night oil - LOVED. Used on nights I don't use adaplene or tret. I have some other products to use but am likely to come back to this.

Sunday Riley ceo afterglow - fine but didn't think it was anything special. Wouldn't buy.

Beauty Pie Japanfusion moisturiser - loved this as a night moisturiser and will probably repurchase in future.

More empties!
Hada Labo hyalauronic cream cleanser - usually a fan of cream cleansers for 2nd cleanse but this felt slimy. Did the job but won't be a rp
KS goat milk cleanser - love this, a staple. Used this when we went away. Have a full size ready to go and just ordered a beauty edit which as a travel size so happy with that
Laneige lip balm in berry - like this lip balm a lot but this took so so long to finish so I was bored of it. Lip products are my favourite so I have many different to try so this was only used before bed really. Have two more mini sizes in different flavours to try
Maria Nila shampoo & conditioner - got this in the Liberty beauty drop. Nothing special, wouldn't rp
Clinique black honey almost lipstick - LOVE this a lot. My baby somehow got hold of this one and destroyed it (was in the change bag) so will be binned but I keep another in my other bag. Always rp this
