New thread. Woke (blooming cat) to find it’s nearly full.

The ember colour looks lovely @Countmeout. I have one of my Jo Gordon ones on today, although having worn the huge yak shawl the last couple of days in the freezing north, my neck feels a bit chilly today.

FitzLea · 09/09/2024 15:18

@Poplinskirt if you don’t mind me asking how tall you are? I had a disappointing experience with my Annie’s and now I’m in need of longer length jeans - I’m wondering whether the longer length ones might be better.

@Countmeout the fawn bandana looks like a nice neutral option - would you say it’s warmed or cool toned? So tough to tell from the photos. I find it so tricky to find light neutrals that don’t drain me.

@ScottishMouse I’m wanting to try the short boiled wool coat, so thanks for the feedback on your try-on session. I’m wondering whether that coat or the indigo pea coat would be a better option for me…

ScottishMouse · 09/09/2024 15:28

I really like the boiled wool coat @FitzLea. I know I will probably try it again at some point to see if I was right about the sizing, because I really want it to work for me.

FitzLea · 09/09/2024 15:34

It’s so elegant in its simplicity @ScottishMouse. I really do like the look of the pea coat too, but if it’s similar in cut and size to the green one of earlier this year it would be too overwhelming on me. I’ll have to try head into my local and hope they have both to try.

ScottishMouse · 09/09/2024 15:56

I love a coat with no collar @FitzLea as I have a short neck and it allows for more scarf options.
Report back if you do try them on.

Poplinskirt · 09/09/2024 17:53

@Fitzlea

I'm 5 ft 8 but hoping they will be long enough
What happened previously?
I've got several pairs of cropped Annie's and I live in them.

FitzLea · 09/09/2024 18:41

Ah okay @Poplinskirt, I’m only 5 ft 4 and thinking the longer Annies will be too long then. I do want something longer than the cropped Annies though, but I love their shape. Unfortunately, after one wash they kept losing shape upon wearing and their knees went terribly baggy.

Countmeout · 09/09/2024 19:54

Goodness I am not sure if warm or cold @FitzLea I just know it’s fairly grim on me. I think it’s darker than in the photos. Probably good accessorised with the right things. To me it’s not that light coloured. I would need a head transplant to wear it.

Oh yes I remember now.
Still baffled, perhaps a dud pair?
Mine are thrashed, my most worn Toast garments and with a good press they look like new.
Will order the full length again in a smaller size and report back( sized up and cba to reorder in the summer)

FitzLea · 09/09/2024 21:08

Yes who knows @Poplinskirt, but I’m willing to try again, as it seems an isolated case.

@Countmeout seems like a tricky colour maybe, and the green one too, which is a pity. Hoping to have a try on when I pop in at the store (hopefully this weekend).

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 11/09/2024 14:17

I received my Cotton Linen Twill Shirt today in a M. It did arrive very creased which was disappointing. It fits really well everywhere, and I thought it was a nice weight, however, as I suspected, the button placement means it gapes slightly at the bust even though it’s not tight. I’m going to try it with different underwear but, at that price, I'm not prepared to keep it unless it fits properly.

The chambray shirt in a S also fits everywhere apart from the button above the bust, which pulls - this seems a really strange place to me as it fits well on the bust itself. I’ve managed to order a M but I suspect that will be too big everywhere else.

On the plus side I also ordered this Pouring bowl which is absolutely lovely, bigger than I expected and a beautiful colour.

ScottishMouse · 11/09/2024 15:22

That’s a shame about the shirts @Theteapotsbrokenspout. I often have similar issues both across the bust and above the bust/across the shoulders. Hopefully one of the bigger sizes works for you.

ScottishMouse · 11/09/2024 15:26

Does anyone have this sweater?
https://www.toa.st/products/roll-neck-wool-cashmere-sweater-charcoal

I am very tempted as it looks nicely long and oversized. What puts me off (apart from the price!) is that I have experienced terrible pilling with the wool cashmere items in the past. Although I feel like they might stop pilling after a while…have I imagined that? I notice though that this one is only 10% cashmere and I’m wondering if it might pill less than the other 30% cashmere items. Reviews are all good and don’t mention pilling, but I’m sure when I looked at it in store previously it felt much the same as the other wool/cashmere knits.

I love that bowl @Theteapotsbrokenspout - the only reason I didn’t buy it when I saw it in store was I don’t have anywhere to store it😿

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 11/09/2024 17:33

I’m not sure I have either @IlovePond but it’s so nice, and so useful to have a bowl with a pouring lip, I thought I would worry about that later.

Stoic123 · 11/09/2024 17:37

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - gorgeous bowl.

I bought a few of the breakfast bowls and they are lovely too.

IlovePond · 11/09/2024 18:05

The bowls are nice too @Stoic123
@Theteapotsbrokenspout - I fantasise about having the sort of kitchen that has space for beautiful pots to use/display. Sadly mine does not fit that description 😿

Stoic123 · 11/09/2024 18:59

@IlovePond - I am now getting FOMO over the pouring bowl but the charcoal colander is already on its way and I still need to find space for that one.

And I want a patchwork quilt....

IlovePond · 11/09/2024 19:58

Ooh, that’s nice too @Stoic123 !

AFingerofFudge · 12/09/2024 07:25

Morning all! Hope everyone is well.

Apologies for my prolonged absence from here- lots going on for me in RL and it has actually distracted me from looking at/being interested in the new seasons offerings.

There isn't much to tempt me either. I am mindful of money at the moment, we are having some unexpected costs at the moment and so I can't really justify spending their prices. I do like the new denim pinafore but at £185 it will be waiting to see if there's any left come sale time.

I am looking forward to the re-opening of the Cheltenham store as that is my (not so) local store. I would definitely like to see it in the flesh.

IlovePond · 12/09/2024 13:47

Hi @AFingerofFudge - welcome back x

AmethystMoonShine · 12/09/2024 15:10

Just here to say the over-size roll neck jumper which I think is wool with a small % of cashmere…. Bobbles quite badly judging by the one being worn by the assistant in the Toast shop I just visited. I tried on the olive which is lovely but I didn’t buy for this reason.
I did leave with the crinkle cotton dress in brick and black check. Love it!

ScottishMouse · 12/09/2024 17:07

Thanks for that info on the rollneck @AmethystMoonShine, I think I will pass so.
I was due to go to the exchange event in Edinburgh tonight, but I won’t be able to get out of work in time now sadly. Although I didn’t have much to swap, and my previous experience of the exchange events has not been great (as opposed to just browsing the rail that Edinburgh have in store permanently, which has been quite successful).

Stoic123 · 12/09/2024 17:58

There has normally been an end of summer sale (short and limited stock) round about now? I've not got my eye on anything but I wear a lot of linen dresses so could be tempted. The cooler weather the last few days has got me a bit excited about knitwear but I'm already overstocked with jumpers.

@AFingerofFudge - welcome back. Hope RL settles down for you soon.

AmethystMoonShine · 12/09/2024 18:05

I was hoping for a sale today @Stoic123 as there was one the equivalent Thursday last year.

Glad the sweater info was helpful @ScottishMouse. A shame as it’s beautifully oversized, fab bum coverage! I’d be tempted in a sale if it was a big reduction but at full price I’d be cross! I was surprised the assistant was wearing it clearly not de-bobbled as it wasn’t a great advertisement. She looked great but the bobbling isn’t for me; I know it doesn’t bother others.

The other lady as rocking a Kantha gown as day wear and looked fab too.
