New thread. Woke (blooming cat) to find it’s nearly full.

ps. Remember to keep all communication with the seller within the eBay system, as that way eBay can review everything, including her obvious fabrications!

Stravaig · 04/11/2024 16:24

@ScottishMouse I know how shitty it is - the hassle, and suspicion, and loss of the item, and always when I've been most desperate for the money! Good luck x

Stravaig · 04/11/2024 16:24

ps. I meant buyer above!

ScottishMouse · 04/11/2024 16:26

Thanks @Stravaig. eBay CS is useless. Apparently I can deduct a small % of their refund when it is returned. What use is that to me?? Grrrrrrr, I am so mad. Looks like I am just going to have to suck this one up and stop selling on eBay.

AFingerofFudge · 04/11/2024 18:08

@ScottishMouse what is your feedback score? If it's decent then perhaps asking ebay to side with you as you're a reputable seller??
It happened to me, someone pulled a shoulder seam out of shape in order to return it. Initially ebay sided with them, but when I spoke to someone on the phone, asked them to look at my good feedback and also supplied photos of it looking perfect then they did side with me.

IlovePond · 04/11/2024 18:37

@ScottishMouse - how annoying and frustrating for you. And to damage your lovely jumper to make a point - outrageous! If she’d been honest - that it wasn’t right for her, you may well have agreed to a return. Or she could have sold it on.

This has also happened to me on eBay and to my DSis and I have never known eBay to refuse a refund to a buyer. The most my sister has ever managed was to get them to remove the buyer’s bad feedback.

With me, I supplied pictures of the perfect jumper, plus stock photos of the original item in store for comparison showing mine was also in perfect condition. EBay still gave her a returns label with my address, (I hadn’t given it to her), and refunded her ‘on my behalf’. I suppose I was lucky she then sent it back. If she’d kept it, as well as the refund, I’d have had no comeback.

My DSis has had similar problems with Vinted.

I came off eBay for ages after my experience. I hope you get your jumper back and that whatever damage has been inflicted, it can be mended.

Poplinskirt · 04/11/2024 18:45

That's so annoying@ScottishMouse
Horrible behaviour
I've not used ebay for a while now.
I think the prices are too high and the use of stock photos so you can't see the true condition of item annoys me.
It's just so clunky compared to Vinted.
I like the fact you can check feedback before accepting an offer and I've blocked a few dodgy ones with poor reviews.
No returns means no returns and Vinted CS are pretty good IMHO if you have clear photos
They zap the scammers !

ScottishMouse · 04/11/2024 18:54

Thanks all. I have just told her to send it back. I will see what condition it arrives in and then decide whether to contact eBay. I can’t really be bothered with a fight. I have just been to a boxing class and got my frustrations out there so unless it is truly trashed on return, I will just chalk it up to bad luck and move on.
I have been selling on eBay for 20+ years and recently started to sell on Vinted too. The only problem I have had so far there is a parcel going walkabout for 6 weeks and Inpost being very difficult to deal with. It all ended well, but I thought I was going to lose quite a lot of money. I now only post using RM.

IlovePond · 04/11/2024 19:02

Just to clarify my post above - I sent stock photos to eBay with pictures of my jumper to show they were identical-when I was challenging the complaint- I didn’t use them on my listing. Basically, the buyer was claiming my mohair jumper was old, worn and bobbled - I provided the shop’s pictures to show it was supposed to look as it did. (It was brand new with tags!) I still didn’t get anywhere.

Hope yours comes back @ScottishMouse

Oh I wasn't referring to your post @IlovePond I didn't read it before I posted Smile

It's the general use of Toast photos when the item is years old .
I prefer the Vinted categories also -it just seems more transparent .

Snowyowl78 · 04/11/2024 19:24

@ScottishMouse if it’s any help, Toast will repair the jumper for free if you send it to one of their stores with a mending service.

ScottishMouse · 04/11/2024 19:26

Yes, my local Toast has a mending service @Snowyowl78, so I may need to do that. Maybe I can then repost it on eBay as a one off “renewed” piece for twice the price! 😂

Haha good plan!😂

Snowyowl78 · 04/11/2024 19:35

@ScottishMouse yes! They will either do it invisible or with a contrasting repair. I’ve had a few done and it’s all been very pleasing!

faustina · 04/11/2024 20:07

@ScottishMouse - I've almost always found Ebay really helpful with disputes when I am the seller, but it can take a while to sort out. It's great you have the photos you took, so you can prove the seller damaged it. If you've already sent a return label to her, contact Ebay once you've received it and tell them (and you can show them!) that it's been damaged. then Ebay will refund you.

I used to use Ebay all the time but find Vinted much easier now - mind you, I just bought a coat I've been looking for for AGES on there so am hoping it arrives in good shape!

btw, is MN unbeliveably slow for anyone else? It's taken me about ten minutes to type this - very annoying!

IlovePond · 04/11/2024 22:32

I’m finding lots of sites slow today @faustina - it’s weird.

I didn’t mean to get defensive @Poplinskirt x

ScottishMouse · 05/11/2024 14:32

Can I ask opinions about something non-Toast? I asked my dh but he is generally useless.
I tried on this Danton coat last week and can’t stop thinking about it. It is a cocoon shape, very oversized but drapes well, it is a lightly insulated water resistant fabric. Even in the smallest size though I wonder if it looks too big from the back. I am very aware of having put on quite a lot of weight in the last few years and because I have extremely short hair, I feel like my head looks like a wee pinhead when I wear oversized clothes. But oversized and interesting shapes is my happy place. I’ve attached some bad blurry pics, but maybe you stylish ladies can tell me what you think. Thank you!

IlovePond · 05/11/2024 15:23

@ScottishMouse - I like it and despite being oversized it looks good from the side. Could you balance it out with a hat? I am also short, with a small head, so I know what you mean about the o/s look.

ScottishMouse · 05/11/2024 15:28

Thanks @IlovePond. I’m not sure if I have a particularly small head, just the ever expanding waist and lack of much hair don’t always work well together!
I have visions of a a massive wide-brimmed number, but it’s definitely getting into woolly beanie weather here so that might do.

IlovePond · 05/11/2024 15:33

Sorry @ScottishMouse - I misread your post as you thinking your head was small 🙈 and thought I had found another small headed person! Your head doesn’t look small/too small with your coat.

Dud you buy it or is it still in the shop?

ScottishMouse · 05/11/2024 16:46

It’a still in the shop @IlovePond. Still thinking about it.

Countmeout · 06/11/2024 10:37

I think @ScottishMouse if you have doubts now you will have more if you buy it. I am trying not to buy anything I am unsure of as inevitably I always regret doing so.

This is excellent advice @Countmeout. I shall leave it where it is and keep looking.

Bimblesalong · 06/11/2024 11:55

I say to myself “if in doubt, miss it out”, chiming with @Countmeout
