New thread. Woke (blooming cat) to find it’s nearly full.

This may have been mentioned before, but there is a preloved Toast Facebook page. I've only used it once but it was all very smooth. They use PayPal and the rules are quite strict and it's well policed. I'm not sure I'm allowed to link it here but they are Toast UK buy and sell (Unofficial).

PrincessofWells · 06/11/2024 19:05

@scottishmouse have you seen this in Cos, very similar but quite stylish? I'm waiting for the sale . . .

ScottishMouse · 06/11/2024 19:15

That does look nice @PrincessofWells . wonder why there’s no photo on a model though, that always puts me off things.
I am on that fb group and have bought and sold there. It’s great and I have only had good experiences.

Countmeout · 06/11/2024 19:31

Is it just me or is that Cos coat shockingly expensive (for Cos)

ScottishMouse · 06/11/2024 19:46

Oh wow @Countmeout you’re right! I didn’t even look at the price, I assumed it would be about half that seeing as it is Cos. I find Cos really hit and miss in terms of quality and fit, I have mostly given up on them lately.

In Toast news, I ordered the wool bandana in ember today. I have been wearing the tawny one non-stop since I bought it. I also am trying the black herringbone shirt which I haven’t managed to find in store and looks interesting. I also ordered the Hal denim jacket on a whim. I have this in a 10, which was an “upgrade” from the 8 I had for years but outgrew. Sadly the 10 is now feeling quite tight too, and I noticed there was not much stock but there was a 12, so I am going to see if it works.
This is the second item of clothing (other one from elsewhere) that I have loved so much I have replaced with a bigger size once perimenopause hit hard, but that bigger size is now feeling too small. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever stop expanding outwards for apparently no good reason. Sigh.

faustina · 06/11/2024 20:21

@PrincessofWells - the Facebook group was started by someone on this group actually!

That Cos coat is nice but I also think it's VERY overpriced, especially for Cos and 100% polyester, recycled or not. I've found some real gems there though - the chunky cashmere is brilliant. They always seem to do a great oversized wool coat each year too

@ScottishMouse - at least you outgrew something you were able to replace. I sold a tshirt on the Toast group last week to someone doing just that!

faustina · 06/11/2024 20:26

oh ... and nothing to do with Toast at all, but Anya Hindmarch is doing another collab with Uniqlo - some really nice cashmere jumpers in the preview which is on the website now. I know a few of us bought some of it last year. I have my eye on the red one and will size up this time - sizing was really small last year!

IlovePond · 06/11/2024 20:36

Thanks @faustina - I was too slow last year🙀

Stravaig · 06/11/2024 20:54

The Cos coat - it'll be the down filling.

ScottishMouse · 06/11/2024 21:13

Yes @faustina, I’ve been lucky to find a couple of replacements for things I have outgrown. I have a list of a few more things that I would like to upgrade to a size up, so am always stalking all the resale sites for them.

Agree that Cos knitwear (especially the cashmere and the chunky wool) can be great.

Bimblesalong · 07/11/2024 12:26

Just an update that my plümo order came and I love it. Posters are absolutely right that not all products are their own brand. The Jack sweater is, and absolutely great. They Hoyland dress is sold via a French Company and I’ve noted their shop in the Marais for my next visit to Paris when my chemo is over. With the discount and avoiding postage/ import costs it’s worked out as a reasonable comparison altho will be more straightforward to shop in person.

The customer service was excellent. I bought using a lower discount code than the couple I had in hand (chemo brain!). I emailed them to explain and they applied the extra.

Looking forward to to the other side of treatment so I can travel to Toast places and browse. There’s nothing like seeing a piece and handling it.

IlovePond · 07/11/2024 13:25

That’s good @Bimblesalong - hope the rest of your treatment goes well.

Bimblesalong · 07/11/2024 13:55

Thanks @faustina - looks like it although mine is labelled Plumo. Cheeky lot!

If I find anything else sold by plumo I’ll know to ask here. I still love the garments but it’s annoying now I’m aware of the markup and lack of accreditation.

faustina · 07/11/2024 13:58

I'm sorry @Bimblesalong - I didn't mean to make you feel bad about it. Now you know your size and how nice they are you can buy other colours and sign up for their sales?

IlovePond · 07/11/2024 14:33

Ooh, those are nice jumpers @faustina and @Bimblesalong !

ScottishMouse · 07/11/2024 15:43

My Toast parcel arrived. The ember bandana is lovely, as I knew it would be as I have it in tawny. The black (well, it says slate, but I think it looks more like black than their slate items usually do) herringbone shirt is also lovely. A nice neck that isn’t deep, lovely soft fabric, could be worn also as a light jacket. A keeper.

@Bimblesalong hope your treatment goes well. Be gentle with yourself, it’s a lot.

Bimblesalong · 07/11/2024 15:53

@faustina no worries you didn’t and it’s good to see where I can get them from! I probably wouldn’t have ordered them separately and with the faff with paying p&p import etc it’s a risk when I don’t know sizing. Interestingly plumo’s is labelled as one size whereas the other gives options - however, I can measure! I do love the Paris dress shop range though and am looking forward to an eventual visit.
Enjoying the Toast chat. We don’t have a shop anywhere near us so it’s good to hear thoughts.

Countmeout · 07/11/2024 16:10

Hope your treatment is going well. Toast is a nice distraction. Interesting chat re Plumo.
