Yes @AmethystMoonShine I had some sales purchases on my account on the 14th last year.
I haven't purchased much this summer as the weather hasn't been good 😕
But there's a jacket or two I have my eyes on from spring and hoping they might go to sale.

IlovePond · 12/09/2024 19:39

Oh, I could do with a Toast sale right about now, (well, I could - not my bank balance 🙀)

ScottishMouse · 12/09/2024 19:43

I was hoping for a sale tonight too based on last year’s dates. But the summer sale this year was a week later than last year, so maybe next week? Nothing in particular I have my eye on, but hoping for some homeware bargains (I mean, I say bargains, but we all know what that means in Toast world).
Totally agree @AmethystMoonShine about the sweater. I cannot stand pilling. I have put up with it on a wool cashmere cardi, but it means I rarely wear it, which sort of defeats the purpose. I need my knitwear to be sturdy.

mizu · 12/09/2024 20:40

@AFingerofFudge drove past TOAST Cheltenham today and it is definitely looking more alive than it has done for a long time - almost a year?? It has had a fresh coat of paint on the outside and clothes rails are up inside.

AFingerofFudge · 12/09/2024 21:14

@mizu excellent news!! Also I have just finished work so checking the emails from the day (I started at 6.45) and there was an email from Toast at 7am titled "your exclusive kindred styling session" and there's an event in Cheltenham on 27th September - I have signed up as I've got a day off that day!

Countmeout · 13/09/2024 08:02

I love that bowl @Theteapotsbrokenspout . I bought the breakfast bowls in the green but now tempted by that shade of blue/grey.

Disappointed to hear about the bobbling on the roll neck sweater. Although once I washed my Mira in the washing machine the bobbling definitely went/lessened.

@AFingerofFudge hope you’ll tell us all about the styling evening.

OP posts:
Poplinskirt · 13/09/2024 09:14

Bobbling isn't a quality issue it's to do with the long fine fibres which naturally come loose and form little bobbles.
Cashmere is renowned for this and all thats needed is a debobbler.
I have lots of cashmere and I debobble every wear.
I also wash after the first wear I know because the excess looser fibres are removed faster that way.
Also avoid belts, straps, cross body bags on cashmere that can cause friction

It's just a bit of extra work/ care which I appreciate some people don't have the time or energy for.
I.love a good debobble!Grin
Waiting for my current toast parcel

ScottishMouse · 13/09/2024 12:34

@Poplinskirt I have a very well used debobbler, and appreciate that cashmere requires debobbling, but I really don’t have time for debobbling every wear. Especially if it is extensive and not just areas where there is extra friction. I also don’t want to have to be thinking about bags, lining of jackets, and other things that might cause friction. I guess I was hoping that only 10% cashmere in the rollneck would mean less pilling but it doesn’t sound like it.
I am learning to embrace scratchier wools because the upkeep is much less.

Countmeout · 13/09/2024 12:37

The long shirt thing arrived. I really like the idea of it but I ordered the cream colour. . It’s thin for poplin imo and you can see through the cream one. I felt a bit flour sacky. It was creased like Billy oh. I didn’t iron as I knew the colour wasn’t right for me in this instance.
However I think I would wear it as I like it and have reordered in ink. I ordered down a size after looking at the measurements and I didn’t want a lot of bulk round the chest. It can be tied at the back. Am attaching a couple of pictures. I know it won’t be everyone’s taste. I will report back when the ink comes and determine if I truly love it . I am 5.4”. I have it over a pair of indigo Alix which was what I had on this morning. I think the ink will work over the crinkle pinafore to give an Apron dress effect. I think it might work as a beach cover up too what’s in your parcel @Poplinskirt ?

Not sure why image is sensitive again. Promise I’m not in my knickers!

I think what I’m curious about @Poplinskirt is why my Brora cashmere doesn’t bobble? I understood it was to do with cheaper shorter cashmere fibres being more prone to shedding/bobbling. That with longer more expensive fibres this is less likely? No idea though, just what I’d heard.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 13/09/2024 14:08

@Countmeout Goodness that is creased, I must say I get fed up with how creased some of the Toast clothes are when they arrive. It does also look quite thin.

However, surprisingly, I think it is a piece that could work, I can certainly see the attraction with the way you’ve styled it. I look forward to seeing the pictures of the ink colour way.

IlovePond · 13/09/2024 14:36

It really suits you @Countmeout and you have styled it really well.

However, I see what you mean about it being thin. I will be interested to see what it looks like in Ink - the cream really looks nice on you, btw.

mizu · 13/09/2024 15:24

@Countmeout I really like it too.

I've delved into the homeware / kitchen section and there are some lovely things. I do not need more TOAST bedding but the new apricot / blue stripe is a dream!

faustina · 13/09/2024 15:50

@Countmeout that looks amazing on you! Much better than the people who wore it in the live (a few lives ago)

@mizu - I was also taken by the new bedding but I'm on a bedding ban - I have more toast bedlinen than anyone could possibly need

I would love there to be a sale - could do with the complete distraction of it. Hopefully one of our resident super sleuths will find the secret link

mizu · 13/09/2024 16:45

@faustina a bedding ban Grin

Stoic123 · 13/09/2024 19:49

Just popped on to say that the charcoal colander I mentioned upthread has arrived and is larger/even nicer than expected.

This season's clothes aren't calling me to me but lots of the home stuff is.

Toasties can we go on chatting forever? Looks like it!
Theteapotsbrokenspout · 13/09/2024 20:25

Loving that colander @Stoic123 .

IlovePond · 13/09/2024 20:54

Very nice @Stoic123 - I also like your wooden counter!

faustina · 14/09/2024 08:07

@Stoic123 - that's so beautiful - and the colour really makes the fruit glow

Countmeout · 14/09/2024 08:07

Thanks for all the comments about the long shirt. Very thin. At least Ink shouldn’t be see through.

Thats a lovely colander @Stoic123 and great to be able to judge the size with the pears in it.

I doubt it must be next weekend for the sale. .

OP posts:
ScottishMouse · 14/09/2024 10:49

I’d imagine next Thursday for the sale. I will be away, and maybe unable to get online until late that night, which is potentially a good thing. I don’t think I need anything (famous last words!).
Yesterday, I received this fab sweater from Cos, and have been wearing it around the house this morning and loving it. It’s huge but in a good way (bigger on me than on the model). I know it’s not Toast, but thought others who prefer more neutral coloured knitwear than most of Toast’s offerings (also hopefully less likely to pill):

Nanasueathome · 14/09/2024 12:38

I ordered sale items 22nd September last year
But then ordered reduced items on 29th November…..before my Christmas madness
ive got things in my basket already planning for the next reductions

faustina · 14/09/2024 14:56

@ScottishMouse - that's a great jumper - I really like Cos knitwear (and their cashmere doesn't seem to bobble either!)

IlovePond · 14/09/2024 15:40

Hi all, not a Toast topic, but in case anyone is interested, there’s a ‘seconds’ sale on this weekend:

https://www.supersecondsfestival.co.uk/

Lots of Etsy sellers, but also some independent potters and jewellers. Some of the pottery in particular is very nice and ‘Toastworthy’. I have just got my DH, (aka ‘the smasher’), to buy me a mug, (with free bowl thrown in), from an independent potter.

Some of the stuff on offer is perfect - just samples or old stock, other bits are clearly identified as seconds with - hopefully- minor faults.

HOME | Super Seconds Fest

Super Seconds Festival is an online sale where lots of independent makers from the UK sell their seconds/ misprints/ samples at discounted prices (up to 75% off!).

https://www.supersecondsfestival.co.uk

IlovePond · 14/09/2024 15:42

On a Toast topic - has anyone been to a Circle event with the new ticketing system and ‘hand your stuff over at the door before being able to see if there’s anything decent on the rails’ events yet?

If so, what was it like?

Thanks
