New thread. Woke (blooming cat) to find it’s nearly full.

@ScottishMouse I’m sure there
are less expensive items, I didn’t stay long. It really is out my price range and it was all
too tempting. The clothes are beautiful, I was drooling. Beautifully cut jackets and trousers, real investment pieces. Staff were lovely too. Small selection in the shop. Most of it is
online.

I don’t know if any of you have seen the Carrier company clothes https://www.carriercompany.co.uk/. I now have three pairs of their Dutch trousers and have just ordered the cropped wool jumper in the lilac. They have quite a few lovely wool jumpers that are very Toast. Clothing made in Norfolk mostly (not sure about the jumpers) and they have info on where the material comes from etc. Not a huge selection but what is there might work for some of us. In terms of recent Toast purchases I have only bought the cashmere half sleeve jumper in the orange/burnt ember. No sale items for me for the first time in years.

Thanks, interesting. Those seamless jumpers look lovely. Looking at them, I think they might be made by The Croft House. I have this jumper in lime, which I bought from Croft House directly a couple of years ago and I love it, it's my favourite jumper: www.thecrofthouse.com/products/womens-shetland-jumper-lime-green-seamless-saddle-shoulder-sweater.

In fact, I bought it because I really wanted a seamless jumper, saw a similar one on Toast that I felt was too expensive, searched online and found that one. I'd never heard of The Croft Hoise before but took a risk and have been really pleased with it. I do hand wash it, but it looks like it will last a long time and I absolutely love the colour.

And I think it's this one: www.carriercompany.co.uk/collections/womens/products/copy-of-superior-lambswool-jumper?variant=32180160299061.

Also, looking at the Toast British wool jumper, it wouldn't surprise me if that is either made by The Croft House or Harley of Scotland, but with a Toast price tag and label added. The Harley of Scotland seamless ones have slightly fewer ridge patterns in the neck that the Croft House ones, which are more like the Toast ones. But it's my guess that they are being made for Toast by one of those companies.

@TheDeepLemonHelper I know, it's a bit of a shame, I know buy cheap buy twice but £600 could be put toward better use. They are so beautiful and obviously made from sturdy materials but not sure I can justify it

Has anyone tried on/bought the new grey herringbone wool coat? I think it is gorgeous in the online pics. Interested to know what it’s like in real life.

Have tried it on and it's to dieee for. Super warm and chic, felt like a million bucks in it (if only I had a million bucks for it). Bit of a shame about the dry clean only

AFingerofFudge · 07/10/2024 11:10

@ScottishMouse I have a Harley of Scotland jumper. I absolutely love it and the quality is fantastic. A little boutique in our town in Gloucestershire sells them and they have a really wide range of colours.

Ooh, do they sell online? Maybe you’d share their website if so. Thanks!

My latest order arrived and all keepers.
The loop back jersey set is lovely, I now have 2 cropped and 1 full length set.
The trousers drape really nicely without bulk at the waistband which I find uncomfortable.
The Carrier Company looks nice and good that they offer different lengths-even Uniqlo does this now.
However the addition of phrases like " won't emphasise your hips" and " flatters the tummy" really piss me off so I won't be ordering.
Women have hips and my tummy is fine as it is thanks .
It's 2024 not 1950 😡

Exactly! I think my post menopausal round tummy is here to stay. I've lost a stone and a half over the past year after a big effort to eat more healthily and exercise more and my BMI is now 19.1. I have no intention of losing any more weight, but still I have a tummy! Well, DH says he likes it.

Yes, not only do you add dry cleaning chemicals to the nice natural fabrics, it also adds even more cost and hassle.

It's the shaming of women for having women's bodies , suggesting we should hide bits of ourselves .
Nope

Popplebop · 07/10/2024 17:37

@Poplinskirt - I just tuned that out! You are right though but it really didn't bother me that much. (For me) the trousers fit really well. Does depend if you like the wide leg style.

Until they start writing that sort of blurb on men's clothes it bothers me
I just want clothes that fit properly not to be told a garment will hide bits of me I don't have an issue with!
So old fashioned

Poplinskirt · 07/10/2024 18:05

Quite pleased that Toast have brought back the Annie cords this year.
I've lost count of the amount of Annie's I have now
I think 2 denim cropped
1 ecru cropped
1 black cropped
2 denim full length
I black/ slate cord full length

I will be going after the blue cord full length
I do get what you mean @Popplebop about finding a style that suits .
I think its Annie's for me , although I'm different sizes in different lengths .
I would love something like the cord Gabis with a longer leg but nothing around, I might have to make some.

Popplebop · 07/10/2024 18:10

@Poplinskirt i also love the cropped denim Annie (am shortarse so an excellent length on me). Haven’t tried the longer ones but am very much tempted with the cord ones. I really must not purchase!

They are beautiful thick soft cord but quite long which is great for me but might swamp you!

OftenOrange · 07/10/2024 18:47

@Poplinskirt Laughing my socks off at the idea of men being subjected to such bigoted sales pitches!
I think Annies are the only trouser I’ve enjoyed wearing for the past 4 yrs or so , can’t match your selection yet , I have 2 dark denim cropped ( one smart pair and an older pair , one ecru.
I only feel really happy if I’m in jeans and no other Toast Jean fits me properly

OftenOrange · 07/10/2024 18:53

Just arrived back in UK to 3 big brown Toast packages from recent sale:
Keeping …short sleeve patchwork pattern shirt .Its flared and so fresh looking , love it and so glad I ordered on a whim.
Also the blue linen cotton herringbone workwear jacket , it’s a good blue this time and fills a gap.
Lots of fails : Button front dungarees too neat and so not comfy , fish print kaftan looks like a hospital nightie, Asawa balloon trousers….I have the shirt and worn together I look like I’m in pjs .

IlovePond · 07/10/2024 19:00

I thought that about the blue and white combo that was in the recent sale @OftenOrange - both the trousers and the Dhuggie style top/tunic/dress were lovely. However, even separately, they just screamed nightwear!

(And I say this as someone who has been known to wear Toast pj tops as summer tops with shorts!)

Stravaig · 07/10/2024 19:03

Netcam · 05/10/2024 10:53

@Stravaig, the silk birds collection looks lovely. Only thing is, I wouldn't buy something silk that I couldn't at least hand wash.

Good point! I often ignore and hand wash anyway, although I have had a couple of disasters, where wetting the silk unleashed a nasty smell which never went away. At that price, it's quite the risk.

IlovePond · 07/10/2024 19:04

I got my refunds on Sunday, btw. (Possibly not totally unconnected with my chasing up on Saturday).

I was a bit annoyed that I had to pay my cc knowing money was coming back in afterwards. (However, it’s not like I am not going to spend it again 🙀)

mizu · 07/10/2024 19:12

@OrangeyLemon just to let you know my kick flare jeans arrived from Vinted like new and I absolutely love them! A pair of jeans that fit.... I rarely wear trousers these days but these are perfect.

Haha can you imagine?
Buy these chinos they will make your 40 inch waist look 34 inch 😂

I keep one pair of my Annie crops for everyday and one for smarter occasions too!

I love that Bird print silk shirt but being expensive , Im messy and it's dry clean means it's a definite no 😥

Netcam · 07/10/2024 21:44

Well.after all that faff with the Gabis, I'm keeping the rose madder and returning the wax green after thinking I wanted them for months and waiting for the sale.

The waist on the wax green is bigger and they just feel too big for me, despite them both being an 8. The wax green feel like a 10 to me. Plus I actually prefer the rose madder colour.

Big risk I'd say. I have a few silk shirts (not Toast) which I love but they are all hand wash. I actually wash them in the wool hand was cycle in the washing machine in a mesh laundry bag and they survive.
